Watched is go by from a field, S of St. Joseph, IL. There were some kids there with their parents and grandparents. I got them some pennies to put on the rail, after someone mentioned it. Took a bit of looking, but found them after 4014 had passed.

I think the "helper friend" locomotive isn't there for power but because regulations require "positive train control" computers on major tracks.
