Update: Arien Is No Longer Homeless in Los Angeles

Arien joined me today as I walked around Hollywood handing out socks to new homeless friends. While we were talking to a group of homeless men in a tent, a man drives by and slows down after recognizing Arien from KZbin.
Arien has recorded four Invisible People videos while living homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. Four videos of the same homeless person over a few years' time is a benchmark I never imagined we'd hit. It also shows how broken homeless services are. If Los Angeles County could not get this young woman off the streets in three years' time something is seriously wrong.

Around nine months ago, I scheduled a fifth video with Arien but she canceled. The night before Arien was sexually assaulted and understandably didn't want to record an interview. I am so glad and excited to share that Arien's fifth Invisible People video is to announce that she is no longer homeless.
When I heard Arien was off the streets and working I messaged her right away. She confirmed what I heard was true and even suggested we record an update video.
Arien is an amazing young woman with a bright future who is very lucky. Someone allowed Arien to stay at their apartment long enough for her to find a job and a place to stay that is more stable. I cannot stress how important this is. Without help, people cannot go from homelessness to employment and housing. Many people think that all homeless people need is to get a job but without a safe place to sleep, food, a shower, and some stability it's impossible to get a job or remain employed.
Lots of horrible things can happen to a homeless person in a very short amount of time. Arien made it because someone gave her a chance. I understand we all can't just open our doors to a homeless person but all of us can speak up to help create more affordable housing and fix a broken homeless services system.

If you're homeless and you're not using drugs and don't have an alcohol problem and you are healthy and able to work, a good way to get off the street is to become an over the road truck driver. You can get Paid while your training by some companies and they put up you in a hotel during training and pay for a minimum of 2 Meals a day. In your truck as an over the road truck driver you will have a bed in your truck you can have a refrigerator and a microwave and they also have small closets to keep extra close. You can shower at the truck stops and do your laundry at the truck stops. Within 24 months you could have your credit cleared up if you have bad credit and in order to qualify for a home loan you usually need a minimum of 24 months of employment and you would be able to save a lot of money in 24 months if you're living on your truck...

I was homeless for almost 2 years. I never speak of it. My family was alive & wealthy, but would not help me (and my 2 dogs). Despite the fact that I was forced to leave my home due to Domestic Violence & divorce. There is no shame 8n being homeless, but it is a teerribly hard life. I’m fixing a room right now to house a teacher who can’t find a reasonable place to rent. Rent here is high also in comparison with wages. I live in a tourism area. Ergo rents are higher than the surrounding areas but there are still schools and teachers who can’t afford the housing- my point is that you can HElP by providing inexpensive housing if you have the capability! I can relate, I was homeless living n my car after my mother passed. I had a job, but it wasn't enough to live on. There were times I couldn't even feed myself. I'm doing a lot better now and I'm extremely happy for her and hope she gets everything in life she wants and deserves.

I really enjoy this lady who has a lot of presence, and shines with intelligence,. The interaction between the host and her is such a breath of fresh air, who are jiving with each other with complementary rhythms. I heard some wealthy celebrities saying that there are so many talents out there, one could have much chance to be as unlucky as a lucky one!

@Wayne M I feal for you. As my family and I are fighting to stay in our home of 20 years. Our Mortgage has been sold 4 times in years I've been here. Last year it was sold again. The this latest Criminal. Jacked up our mortgage.400. bucks month. Wanted 20\000 in fees. Weren't cashing the 1200 month. We send that covers taxes insurance too.for 5 months sent the 5 months checks back. With the info I told you. 9 months ago we came to an agreement with this company. Sent them close to 5000. Payments jumped from 1200 to 1550. Well except that. We paid that. They took that next month send the 1500. Check comes back uncashed. They started the process all over again. This company is on federal probation right now for doing the same to other homeowners. But yet when complaints are filed. Gov does nothing. Rule of law? For you and me. Irony in this is I've never missed a payment.its been 15 months. It's gotten to the point. The wife deals with it. She won't let me help. Sleep in separate rooms. I'm just waiting for the knock at the door from the sheriff dep. I know as you should too. That this POS government that's been captured by Corporate. Has the means money empty structures all over the place. Could end homelessness. Tomorrow. I'm not saying give herion addict brand new house. But we could give them hand up and hope to clean up. Once your homeless and you don't have ,a job. Good luck.there Credit check hires I'm sure the homeless have good credit. So you can see people down on their luck. Can't crawl out the hole they been put into. As the 40 million homeless from other countries. Well that the Gov and CIA work. Over last 50 years. Would you stick around the country your living in. If there's Death Squads roaming the streets. What is not mathematically possible. Is the close to a billion a year Congress gives the MIC every year. So you can see why I've got a bad attitude.Dont know what I'm going to do. 6 o'clock news Here I come. Have empithy for folks.everywhere.

Helping people really is just helping take some of the burden off their shoulders until they are strong enough to do for themselves. Like Arien having a friend’s mom let her stay so she could shower and do laundry so she can be safe, and find a job. And she’s obviously super happy and proud of herself! 💖💖💖 We need community and compassion. But also, we need to change some regulations-the ones that aren’t helping, and the ones that re keeping unsheltered people down.
