I'm very excited, but also can wait as long as it takes. I also wanted to say thank you for sparking my interest in analysis, and making my Lit classes a lot more fun (whenever someone teaches about mirrors or even just like symbolism, I'm like "ooh I know this and I love this")

Hello everybody, there is something I need to say... When I watched the 4th series for the first time I didnt know about the existence of TJLC, I didnt even ship Sherlock and John back then. And yet for ~some reason~ I didnt like the series at all. My point is- Rebs, your work is amazing and I think you dont have to be so hard on yourself ❤ In my opinion the 4th series just isnt very good in general, no matter if you are expecting a romance or not. And your videos actually help me rediscover my love for the show. Thanks to you I feel the great atmosphere that I miss sooo much in the last series.

SEVEN?! I was expecting a “so I decided to divide it into two” NOT SEVEN. XD Could I suggest releasing it one at a time weekly? Then you have time in between each one to edit and/or write and we’re not inundated with long videos every day haha. I’m looking forward to it!!

I will think about it! I do want them out together so that later videos can still be in the context of the earlier ones, and if I do release them close together, people are always free to space out viewing them however they like.

I'm so glad to know you have not abandoned this! I am very new-as of just this year! (Better late than never, yes?) From the very first episode I saw this series as you do, and was upset when it finally became clear they had back off😨. The great thing I have learned about fandom (again, newby here) is that we ( uh, the creators as I am merely a consumer) can and do create our own reality. I am old enough to have seen ups and downs (A lot!!!) In the ....gay+ community! Hang in there, you are Great at what you are doing...and you are soft on the eyes 😏

How dare you not have… okay. I can’t even write a full sentence of that bc it’s total crap. You should take as much time as you need to put out a product which makes you happy and we are merely the recipients of free, extraordinarily detailed explanatory tapes re Sherlock, John, sexuality, & how it was (and wasn’t) incorporated into BBC Sherlock. The fact that you even think it’s necessary to make an apology is silly bc, again, we are not PAYING YOU for the privilege of learning this information. Also, even tho I’ve had years to do so, I’m still no caught up thru all your videos so please do take your time!! This may come out later in your videos (and I might be the most ignorant and/or naive person on the planet) but until I came across a completely separate video this week, I wasn’t aware that there was an entire asexual, aromatic field of individuals into which I should be familiar. That is to say, I knew the concept of asexuality existed; but I didn’t know that it had branched out into such a large and detailed group. Apparently, if your videos do NOT include a nod of sorts to that group of ppl, they will take it quite poorly (or so I understand). But like I said, I’m way behind on the materials, and it’s been a while since I watched them and for all I know, you DID mention this in the very beginning and it went in one ear and out the other (or I wouldn’t be so surprised now). The concept of one’s identity these days appears to be so much more expansive than when I was growing up, and it honestly feels as if one SHOULD take a class in order to understand all the different classifications that exist today. (I’m not being facetious. I honestly think that would clear some things up for me, and I wouldn’t inadvertently say something inappropriate to an individual who hasn’t chosen a gender & perhaps is pansexual so I (think) I would refer to this person as te and recognize that they’re alloromantic but only with specific individuals w whom they happen to have particular sparks w regardless of the other persons gender. But I only think that’s correct. I don’t know for sure. (That’s why I think a class or something similar would be quite helpful.) Esp’ly as this is the point in time when my friends kids are tweens and starting to specifically lean one way or another ( if they haven’t already spoken w their parents). My nephew hasn’t discussed this w me, but he appeared to like the girls in his class (or more specifically, the girls on the tv, videos, & movies he’s not supposed to be watching yet.) However, since he hasn’t brought it up, I don’t want to look like I’m pushing him in any particular direction and when he was younger (like 5 or so) he seemed to like both genders indiscriminately, so I really don’t want to say the wrong thing when he’s 12 years old. I certainly don’t want to have discussions later in life wherein he says: but you TOLD ME to go after “x” girls, boys, whatever, and then have to explain what I was attempting to say. I just wish he’d talk more and/or look up from his iPad to chat. But I’ve digressed to an astonishing degree. Please take as much time as you need. 🥰🥰🥰

The best thing you can do when you don’t know the right words/terminology is to just tell whoever you’re talking to. Hopefully, this will make sure that don’t get offended by you saying something that unintentionally upset them. I totally agree with you about how there should be required classes in school about it. (I may or may not have taken over one health class or another to inform people about the stuff they weren’t being taught.) It can be really confusing, especially for older people who grew up with simplified narratives to get the baseline of ‘gay people are people’. I am so happy that you are working to learn about this topic. It is so wonderful to hear. I love that more and more people are saying how they are willing to try, even if they make mistakes. One of the most common ways to learn is by trail and error and there should be nothing to be ashamed of, when someone uses it.
@prosen8966

@@emmakane6848 Things might be quite different now but while I grew up in a suburb right outside of Manhattan, it wasn’t remotely as accepting as ‘gay ppl are ppl’. I honestly don’t believe (or didn’t hear about) anything close to that notion until my nephew was in elementary school [in Manhattan]. For me, it was going to college to not only figure out for myself ‘gay ppl are ppl’ but gay ppl are a third to one half of my friends. To my knowledge. Clearly a liberal college. You are seeing things as you and I myself WISH they would be, but gay ppl were only federally given the equal right to marry in 2015. For ex., my mother wasn’t allowed to go to Harvard w my dad; she could go to Radcliffe and use the libraries at Harvard, but as a woman, she didn’t have that right. Mixed marriages weren’t (federally) allowed until 1967. This is somewhat hazier, but women (possibly still but definitely about ten years back) were making 77c to every dollar made by men. And for the moment forget the intricacies of gender identification - I don’t think any LGBTQ+ indl would feel comfortable staying in numerous southern states or suburbs (as well as a whole bunch of western ones) in the exact and/or quite similar way that I, as a Jewish indl, would not feel, let’s say, welcomed in those same places. And it’s a given that people of color would have the same issue. So, while many people may look back and see Stonewall as the true beginning of gay rights, that’s not quite the same thing as acceptance in society (which is awful) but true. Basically, I look back and see my grandmothers as completely unaccepting; my mother as cringe worthy (“you remember my hairdresser Gary - he’s gay you know - yadda yadda”) The “he’s gay” part spoken in the same way as was done in the dinner during St. Elmo’s Fire (google that if you haven’t seen it). Albeit, my mom is now totally for gay rights (my dad was as well; but he passed away just over 2 yrs ago). As far as I can tell, you see me as I saw my mom way back when, except that she merely had one thing to learn & it was so irritating that it took so long for her to understand. What’s bothered me since I was a child is basically why people of color, Jewish ppl & LGBTQ+ indls don’t band together based on similar persecution, but then ppl will start getting into detailed discussions as to how the cases are different or why their religious beliefs stop them from blah blah blah (which to me is their personal and/or their Rabbinical or priests reading of the Bible which is quite subjective and can be read many dif ways… But this is already quite lengthy. Shockingly, I was an English major!) But at the very least, each iteration of learning to be more accepting and more sensitive to gay rights merely fine tunes the most recent and now, most important aspects of somebody’s identity. Are you truly familiar w generations of indls who were taught that ‘gay ppl are ppl’ and should be treated as such, and where in the U.S. was this occurring? My first year of college (a good college) one of my friends who I would ultimately room w in a large group senior year honestly, truly believed I had a horn of some sort on my head bc I was Jewish and her father was a backwards, bigoted piece of shit. So to speak. And also, even tho she grew up in Mass., apparently the suburbs there were quite quite conservative. The one thing that makes me feel better about life (altho I trust my friends to treat their children w the necessary love, etc) is that the one who had a child come out as trans is so perfectly laidback and accepting of her now two daughters, and is doing her best to help her child thru the roadblocks, both outside, and inner, that have cropped up as a result. I think one of the things I’ve loved best about Jonathan (my nephew) growing up in Manhattan is that from preschool forwards, his classes have looked a lot like GAP commercials [except for the fact that for J, that concept doesn’t exist - his class just WAS - and all the others as well] and for the first 7 years of his life, he had the best president he will ever know to guide him in life & by the time the next administration came around, he understood enough to realize they stood against everything, every rule by which he had been taught to live his life. They were intolerant, exclusive, misogynistic, rude, dismissive, cruel, bigoted & just incredibly mean. And, oh yes, STUPID. And until my sister told me to stop showing Jonathan the videos, he used to love the Randy Rainbow videos against Trump. (I am apparently a terrible aunt.) Albeit I’m still not sorry so. I think it would be remarkably helpful to have the schools help out but I wouldn’t count on the school system OR we will have to make a change, as Obama has been saying since he left office, from the bottom up. (Likely you know exactly what that means, but we need to change not just the Pres and Senators; we need to change the local school administrators, the school district supervisors, the Board of Education Presidents, the local trustees, mayors, governors, etc. etc. etc.) Both my parents were involved in this, altho it takes up huge chunks of time if you honestly throw yourself into it and not everyone wants to spend that much of their spare time from full time jobs taking on what can become secondary full time jobs. But since Drumpf stuffed thousands of ppl into these types of jobs, it might not be a choice we can make if we wish to keep moving forward. What CAN be done (and I’m not saying that it should be this way or that it “should” be the LGBTQ+s responsibility to educate the country) but after the last election, I honestly no longer believe in the American ppl on the whole. I did when we voted in Obama. But the idea that AFTER LIVING W SUCH A SCHMUCK FOR 4 years, 70+ million ppl still voted for Trump boggles the mind. And much more than half of those votes came in AFTER he started a coup on our capital. So. Educating the ignorant or naive may come down to the LGBTQ+. It doesn’t have to be an incredibly huge project. Or rather, putting together the teaching materials doesn’t have to be a huge big deal - the big deal will be getting ppl to SEE the project once it’s done. So, either a bunch of regular videos or maybe TED TALKS? (Im not sure how one “advertises” for TED TALKS) And then you get ppl to watch. If you want to have comments but expect derogatory offensive comments, you’ll have to take turns going thru the comments and taking out the truly nasty ones. But it can also lead to awesome forum discussions. So incredibly sorry this is so long. 😢😊😘🥰
