@@MichealKeys16 A 600 is more than enough for anybody that isn’t 6’6” 300lbs+. I ride a 1000, and still enjoy a 600 very much. A 600 is plenty, and if you’re “too comfortable” its time to find the limits on a track with it.

Hey Peter, I ordered the R1 last week. In anticipation of them being discontinued I jumped on ordering on. Who knows the used ones down the road may become expensive. Ive ridden tall my life but this is my first 1000cc bike. Looks really nice in your video.

Yeah, I think some of these true liter bikes are going to retain a lot of value for some people. I can predict the future, so never take my word on future values, but these types of bikes aren't going to be around much longer, especially the inline 4 cylinders.

443lbs is kinda heavy to worry about putting in a smaller display to “save weight.” Each trim/package of the current S1000RR is lighter than that with a huge screen
@PeterLoweOne10 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's probably fair. It's small because it's old is probably a more realistic guess.
@ChokolateSushi2310 ай бұрын
@@PeterLoweOneI think that’s more accurate. At the time I remember it being pretty slick. Nobody really had anything like it except for Ducati. Everybody has finally had time to catch up and Yamaha probably figures since there will be no new, updated R1, it’s more cost effective to focus efforts elsewhere. That’s just my opinion at least. Still an excellent machine and I’ve been pondering one. The sound is intoxicating

Discontinued in Europe, emissions are good till 2028 in USA. Most likely be same bike till than in US but Canada doesn't always follow suit Example Honda cbr600rr not available from new in Canada but it is in US
@moremoney27 ай бұрын
If true, your point us well taken concerning emissions, but try finding a new bike at a Yamaha dealership. I would guess that Yamaha, just like Suzuki, has already decided which direction they are going. It may continue to be sold in North America, but production numbers will be limited if they haven't already stopped. IMO, the R1 is dead, unless the political climate changes and the restrictions are lifted, but change comes slowly. If you own an R1, enjoy it and take care of it.

Your statement re the brakes is NOT true ....these are floating Rotors (NOT "floating calipers" like you said around 4:13) in fact they are only SEMI floating ROTORS not even true full floaters basically I think of em as pretend floaters because those "rivets" are very TIGHT not loose like true floaters on race bikes and any wel appointed european Sportbike... bikes you can spin the individual "rivets"and they spin with your fingers and even rattle ....BTW the slop in TRUE full floating rotors is much more about the ability of the calipers to grab the rotors efficiently and precisely despite the warp and wander allowing more of the friction to convert to actual stopping power than pretend floaters can...the OEM types are quieter I understand but not race spec....BTW I replaced my damaged MT-10 "road bike" forks with R1 forks and guess what? pretty much identical to the MT-10s forka if you compare individual part numbers of all the components in fact all sorts of other things are the same between the models. The R1 is a price point cheapo version of an R1 race spec bike.....faster than MT-10 for sure because lighter engine internals allow hp to develop via rpm where the cheaper still MT-10 forgoes the titanium rods and valves and caps the power at 165ish rather than close to 200hp Average street rider is better off with MT-10 and will save a ton of money too! and even more on insurance! Typical street rider will NEVER exploit what the MT-10 is capable much less the R1! Especially if you are never gonna take to do racing or just track days! OR you live in the many many areas where there are NO twisty roads to even enjoy a sport bike to begin with! One sacrifices so very much to ride a full faired liter sportbike simply because one likes the way they LOOK ....

It doesn't come witht a fuel gauge! I cant belive it... Squids will tell me "its for saving weight" or whatever, but IT COMES WITH A BLOODY SIDESTAND AND LIGHTS, AND PLATE HOLDER ETC... Yeah its a Superbike I get it, but its a STREET superbike, so where the hell is the fuel gauge?? Sucks that if you own one you´ll have to "calculate" the remaining fuel. Pain in the ass.
