Hahaha, man it's been a rough summer. I depend on fishing to feed my family. I need to catch 40-50 keeper drum and striper to get me through till spring. We eat fish twice a week, and a 5-6# fish can feed 5 mouths 1 meal. Trout are fun, but they don't keep well. They get mushy after freezing and thawing. Not only is it fun, but we eat good, and save $3-400 a month. Striper goes for around $20 per # here.

@@TRICKEDTINS Brother, I was a commercial fisherman for 8 years starting when I was 15 with my BFF's pops. Trout will keep fine, as will others that tend to not keep well but to do so you need to freeze them in ocean water. Not sure if that river is salt or brackish, but if it's salt, take home a cooler full of fresh water and freeze your catch in it. We used to sell had our shrimp fresh and freeze the other half and when the season was over the only place to buy them was at the store and it was like $7 - $10 per #. We'd have hundreds of pounds frozen in salt water and when we'd thaw them out they'd be as fresh as the day we caught them and the line in front of the house went around the block and we sold it at $5 per #. Try that with that white trout and see if it works. We have those same white trout here in Florida and they can get decently big. 4 pounders aren't that difficult to catch.
