I don’t understand it either, and quite frankly, I hope I never do. Anyone who enjoys inflicting pain and suffering onto a vulnerable being, whether human or non-human, just for “fun” is defective and deeply damaged. Maybe it seems to happen more frequently these days because we are all global citizens now, but it saddens me and makes me less optimistic for our future. How can we grow into our better selves if we still have people who harm others for no reason other than blind hatred or boredom? Even typing that last sentence out makes me sad…

What a terrible ordeal this young monkey has endured. The gentle, patient and highly skilled carers give so much of themselves to support and nurture Zac's recovery. He certainly seems to show the will to live and is eating enthusiastically. I guess the question will be regarding his expected quality of life. Sending hope and strength to all residents of VMF. ❤

I don’t know if it’s because we hear & see more through social media but why does it seem like case numbers of animal abuse & brutality by humans have exploded. I am shocked at the cruelty inflicted on wildlife in South Africa. Yes I know it happens in many other countries too. However, these youths and their parents should receive prosecution from the law. If examples and education are not presented to the public, how will this behavior ever end? Will these youths do the same to a child who is down, injured, or any fellow human being? The lessons have to start somewhere. Poor innocent little monkey. I hope he survives to join a troop at the foundation. I did not see this first episode with Zach. My heart broke! And to hear people/kids no matter where behaving so atrocious to an injured animal makes me sick. That is why I am so grateful for this foundation. It proves there is still humanity in the world. This little guy was abused and left for dead but your foundation decided to try and left this baby at least feel some true human care and give him love, no matter how long he has. But when I watched him move more and actually go for his food I had a feeling he just might live a longer life than anyone expected! The focus of the carers is sometimes so intense, with knowledge of what has occured to this juvenile- Gently stroking a will to survive which has been kicked into hiding.. The occasional flickers of horror - could be me. Still..Good Lord,, Neuro-rehab gently between seizures. You people are an amazing in the way you have been born with certain talents. They are blended to present to these creatures a good dose of the best of primate humanity. I enjoyed spending this morning these stellar rehab techniques and the sometimes gruelingly slow moment to moments recovery which is so distinctly neurological.. Proud to be watching

I can't believe the cruelty that some people demonstrate! Kids kicking an injured animal speaks directly to the quality of their parents. They undoubtedly raised them with that cruelty and disrespect. My mother called it a "mean streak". Do they reserve that "mean streak" for just animals? Probably not. My mother was an animal lover and all of my siblings and I grew up with a total respect for animals, with empathy and compassion. We all should teach our young that respect. Not just by words but by example as well.

She arrived a long time ago, I'm not sure we have any videos back then but let me see if i can find some photos! She used to live in an introcage alongside Robert troop with 2 others monkeys. When they passed away we decided to give Skylar a chance at joining a troop and moved her to H&B, eventually being integrated in Aug 2021. Really great to see her and Harmony as foster-mums 😁
