Using the BMUMP myself and went for the full accessory stuff (shoulder mount, SSD recorder, EVF) for I do all kinds of stuff (press, concerts, industry film). With everything put on the BMUMP is at 8000$/€ + battery + storage. To get an idea: at the highest possible recording format RAW/Lossless you go by 500GB/33min. Do you need RAW/Lossless? Most of the time you probably don't! The one thing the really started to get me annoyed is people complaining about things they don't even need. In one video one guy was complaining about the SSD recorder having just 1 slot. At 4K/ProRess 422/ 16:9 you get 500GB/121min (1TB = 242min). Why again is it a freaking drama to have "just" one slot SSD? Just to set all those people straight. A fucking analog film reel usually records just 30-60 min! Man, I'm so sick of non-professional poeple complaining about "professional" things that never existed! Just like "this is not a low light camera"! Yeah, fuck you - there has NEVER been a low light camera since the very first camera ever made. Probably the first and only camera that can be sonsidered a "low light" camera is the Sony A7s series. As for ALL other cameras, well , they are not such. Talking about the Sony A7s, did I mentioned that I hate working with Sony cameras?, well however. Haven't I just seen a video with a guy complaing about the non 180° flippeble screen on the BMUMP and then talking about his fancy Sony A7s that doens't have a fucking flippeble screen AT ALL! Please, shut up! And another thing, most of you guys probably never had the pain of using used cameras otherwise you would know that 180-360° flippeble screen really, really, really suck shit beause all the electric and cables inside the connection from screen to camera get fucked up and become broken ... which is very annoying. Thank you Black Magic for getting cables save. By the way, a cameramann doesn't need a 180° flippeble screen because he stands BEHIND the camera ALL THE TIME! And everybody who tends to shot himself really doesn't need a BMUMP! hmmm ... that makes me wonder. If someone is shoting himself unsing flippeble screen, how close do you have to be to see anything on those tiny screens?

Great video man! But after watching many videos about this camera and many others, I need to say: people will never be satisfied, it is a trend for some years now, and this trend is to find any and every possible "flaw" that cameras have. This is a professional cinema camera, not a C300. Thanks for sharing.

I totally agree and I honestly don't think there will be a perfect camera for everyone. It would be impossible for any company to meet the needs of all it's potential costumers. These were just my opinions and some other people may see something different. That being said had we not spoken up about what we love and dislike about the camera we may never have gotten the Ursa mini pro which is a huge improvement over the original Blackmagic Cinema Camera. I love the conversation. Thanks for the comment. :)

myvideoversion you have a point. Blackmagic showed that they are listening and changes were made because of people's needs. And thank you for responding! all best!

greetings. Great video. I have a question, I am planning to buy a camera. I am confused amongst C 300 Mark 2, C 200 Mark 2, FS 7 Mark 2, Ursa mini Pro. I have cannon 70-200 USM II 2.8 and 24 - 70 F4 L glass. I already own a 80D. I want to know how good is the autofocus on Ursa mini pro with cannon L glass.
@myvideoversion6 жыл бұрын
Dr. Maruti Sharma auto focus doesn't exist on the Ursa cameras. I would call it more of a focus assist because you hold down the focus button and it sets the focus but it will not auto focus while you are moving around the frame
@DrMarutiSharma6 жыл бұрын
Thank You for your prompt reply. 1. Does that mean that it won't lock on to the subject? 2. There is Ursa broadcast version out? Is that better, since I am planing to do more live workshops in future. 3. Since most of my work is live workshops or sometimes I shoot for my vlog on my own, do you recommend buying a URSA. If not, what would be your recommendation for a good video camera that I can use for at least a couple of years. Thank You for your time. I appreciate your work.

Hey. Question. What are the stops on the built-in ND filters? Is it the typical ND 0.6, 1.2, and 1.8?
@myvideoversion7 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's the 2, 4, 6 stops of ND so those would be the correct correlating numbers.

Hey Micah, fun video. Was hoping to hear your thoughts. I'm torn between the URSA Mini Pro and the C300 Mark II. I've been a fan of Blackmagic camera's and their colours, right down to the Pocket Cinema and I'd be happy with the URSA Mini Pro for narrative and commercial work but I also shoot events, mainly weddings which I'm worried this camera isn't the best choice for. I had the C100 Mark II in mind for quite a bit as well but I'd really like to future proof myself at least a little bit with 4K even if I don't have 4K deliverables right now just by looking at the way technology is headed. If only I found a hidden pot of gold to buy all three, lol.
@myvideoversion7 жыл бұрын
That's a tough choice. The biggest advantage to the URSA mini Pro is the RAW capabilities but I would never personally shoot weddings in RAW. In my opinion technology changes so fast and future proofing isn't always the best way to look at what to buy. The c100 markii is a third the price and what I would do is save the money you wanted to spend on the c300 and using the c100 for a few years. In that time a ton of new cameras will come and the price will most likely drop on all of them. Than when you need the deliverable of 4K you can upgrade to whatever camera is out at that time. Now this is just my opinion and I don't know all of the considerations but that is what I would suggest. Hope that helps and makes some sense.
@MarcBangera7 жыл бұрын
Yea makes sense. It is hard to future proof these days but still definitely a tough choice. Thanks for replying, cheers!

in Australia it cost 2x as much as a secondhand ursa mini 4.6k. would you still say it is worth it at that price gap (is the sensor improved in your opinion?)
@myvideoversion7 жыл бұрын
legendp2011 when I compare my 4.6k to pro the sensor is slightly better but at that price gap I would just go with 4.6k

I wanted to pull the trigger on this camera so bad up until yesterday I saw someone post "ursa mini pro nd rainbow flare" mostly shows up when you shoot with ND 4 and 6, there's a couple videos of that problem surfacing Vimeo. Would be great if you can do a test! Hoping the problem is just with some cameras and not all.
@myvideoversion7 жыл бұрын
I shot a ton of stuff into the sun using NDs and didn't notice any rainbow flaring. I noticed the flares were slightly more magenta but nothing like the ones on vimeo. I watched a few and didn't see that in the ursa I had.

there is a forum about this. blackmagic are looking into the issue (even heard one pr person say they could fix it with firmware). but so far people with the issue have been able to send there camera back and get it fixed by blackmagic

So I am noticing 2 things that bug the crap out of me in my pro 4.6k and tempted to send it back. 1st crazy bad fixed pattern noise in any under half stop underexposed. And the lcd had horrible screen burn in when switching from clean feed to text overlay and back to the menu.
@myvideoversion7 жыл бұрын
jared jaynes I did a low light test on the pro I had and didn't have fixed pattern noise in ISO 800. Also the screen worked fine. I would contact blackmagic about that.
@danmathis73417 жыл бұрын
I am having the same issue with the LCD screen on my mini pro.
@overnightclassic26 жыл бұрын
If you're 1 stop underexposed at 800, that's the same as shooting 1600, hence why you have fpn. If you underexpose by 1 or 2 stops at 200 or 400 ISO you won't generally have issues. BUT blackmagic does seem to have slightly more FPN than other brands, but not anything that's unusable.

Three big reasons why people aren't completely satisfied with this camera. 1. Lowlight sucks-Yes, the lowlight is trashed. But, it's just because this camera is a Digital Film Cinema Camera. This is supposed to replicate film as best as possible (But I agree, the noise patterns at 1600 is complete trash) 2. Sensor Crop-Not sure why this is such a big deal. Even the RED cameras crop the sensor when you are changing certain compressions. This is, actually, a really good thing. If it wasn't cropped, then how could it be RAW? It must be cropped in order to get every single pixel across the screen from the sensor, otherwise you will end up with disgusting moire and aliasing, and a lack of 4444 in your footage. 3. Flipping the screen-... Okay. I'm not too sure why this is number three in the biggest reasons people aren't completely satisfied with this camera. I just.... Okay. Whatever.............. Lol, this camera has 2 SDI outs. I'm positive you can set up a monitor so you can see yourself when you are fixing the lighting, geez. This camera is a production camera you would get on set. In fact, this camera belongs on set. I can see it used for a documentary, but really why? Wouldn't you just use the C200/C100mkii? It's mainly geared towards budget filmmaking on a set/controlled lighting.

How fast is the autofocus?
@myvideoversion7 жыл бұрын
The Electronics Show it doesn't really have an autofocus like the canon c300 it is a button you push to find focus I found it really slow and unreliable when I used it a few times. Haven't really tried it sense

Great review!! Did you notice any issues with the Green/Magenta flare (Rainbow Flare) that many users including myself noticed with the built-in ND's? I had to return my Mini Pro because of this. BMD is aware and there is a whole discussion on it on BMD forum. Here's the link forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=57845
