What is the future for Ukraine? Unfortunately it doesn't look good. The US Government has run out of money, Ukraine announced over 500,000 soldiers have died and there is little optimism left for a future that doesn't involve Ukraine giving up territory to Russia. To make sense of Ukraine in 2024, I'm inviting former US Army Colonel Daniel Davis to the show to share his insights about the Russia Ukraine War.
0:00 - Intro to Ukraine and Colonel Daniel Davis
1:56 - Why Ukraine is similar to Afghanistan War
4:38 - How Ukraine Counteroffensive Failed
8:38 - How Does the US Government Make These Mistakes?
11:54 - Why Ukraine Should Have Negotiated Earlier
16:23 - How People Are Waking Up to the Truth
19:22 - Does the Military Industrial Complex Control the US?

Yeah, I second this, being a German citizen. Our American "friends" simply destroyed the North Stream Pipeline in the Baltops 22 "exercise", then our government is too cowardly to address this. (2)to take over the energy market for American companies (3)to kill the budding movement of “strategic independence “ in Europe (4) to weaken the competition to the USD, namely, the Euro With the cooperation of the German and the EU governments, I think the Americans have succeeded in all its goals in spade!!

As a Russian, I think this war is unnecessary but inevitable, the United States pumped Ukraine with hatred against Russia for more than 8 years, and as Putin correctly said, "if a fight is inevitable, strike first." Ukraine had military options for attacking Crimea and Donbass, they were waiting for joining NATO and, already being members of the bloc, they wanted to implement this scenario by unleashing, in fact, the third World war.

This is why 60% of Taiwan the other day voted against the DPP, USA supported government (the DPP now only has a 40% minority Government). The citizens of Taiwan saw what happened to Ukraine that was used as USA's proxy war against Russia. Ukraine's modern country has been turned into rubble, with hundreds of thousands of their citizens dead. What for? Because USA promised them that if they joined NATO, then USA would support them (USA wanted Ukraine to be a NATO country so they could build USA Military bases only a few hundred kilometres away from Russia's major cities). If Ukraine had remained neutral, then there would have been no proxy war. Now, with all of Ukraine's destruction, they still are not a member of NATO.

@@UYT7715Flower Mate, you ignore the intersection, very convenient for you. Let me help you with basic Year 8 Maths. The focus for USA has been the DPP. USA went all out of their way to fund and support the DPP. The people of Taiwan have a literacy rating of over 98% (not 56% in USA). So they know what USA was doing. As a result, they turned their backs on the USA supported DPP and voted elsewhere ... any where. Hence why you have 60% migrate away from USA's constant interference with their province. Taiwan have a 3 Party political structure, not 2 like in USA, hence why you're confused. The 60% anti USA interference was spread across the other 2 Parties that support the Status Quo of Taiwan (aka the Republic of China). The ROC Taiwanese people are happy with their life styles and their number one trading partner, the People's Republic of China (aka Mainland China). Now USA needs to nick off and leave them alone. The whole world is sick and tired of USA military provocation, just to make profits for the MIC (tell me, why do many USA Politicians buy up shares with MIC every time they declare conflict directly or indirectly with other countries. Is that humane with millions of human beings being killed?).

Which is ironic, since the US politics, installing a pro NATO, anti-Russian puppet after the bloody murder revolution to get rid of the old, pro-russian president, is totally responsible for the whole war. The NATO narrative that Putin was just greedy and wanted to rob Ukraine, is utterly ridiculous. They have their own resources and have better things to do than starting a proxy war with NATO lunatics. On the hindsight we can also see why the Ukrainian puppet was playing a president on Ukrainian TV, it was all orchestrated. @@brotherjerry4767 Ukraine and Afghanistan not comparable tbh. Afghanistan was never ever Russian territory in history... Russia and Ukraine is intertwined, as well as Belarus. All 3 are deeply tied culturally and historically. Afghanistan had noting to do with Russia, just because Afghanistan had a communist government doesn't mean they are close to Russia. Also back then, Russia had extremely weak leadership.. Brezhnev was kind of like Biden, old and senile, he didn't really care what was going on... then Gorbachev, who was even worse, was a corrupt and naive politician, who believed the west that they were trying to help them... But yea you know how the story goes later.

I think there is a Misunderstanding regarding the beginning of the conflict and Russia's performance on the battlefield. When Russia crossed the border, they did so with only 190k Troops. The strategy was to kind of shock Ukraine into negotiating. Putin and Russian Military Command thought Ukraine would be willing to negotiate early on. When Russia realized that wasn't the case they had to pivot to a longer term strategy and bring up more hardware and Troops.

Great interview. I listened to a fascinating interview recently with Emmanuel Todd (famous for predicting the collapse of the USSR) on the real causes of this war in Ukraine. NATO expansion was a big part of this, but there is another factor: Germany. Germany was getting too close for the liking of the US, UK and NATO to Russia. That was the reason that blowing up the pipeline was so important. The war gave them the opportunity to close off Russia from Europe. Russia, Todd argues, never wanted a war with NATO and its actions have always been defensive.
