While American politicians and corperations will take advantage of others, I believe the majority of Americans want everyone to do well. At the moment the Philippines is important to the non Chinese nations as a limit to China's expansion for everyone's safety. That makes support for the Philippines needed and makes the US presence there a backup to limit how hard China can bully the Philippines without triggering a war they cannot win. (China relies on imports over supply lines they cannot protect and know it) Once China's threat goes away, the US may/will leave, especially if asked. (the economic costs of keeping forces in the area long tern may be higher than the US wants over time.) The Philippines is a small country that needs friends to protect it from larger threats but also friends that will not take over the country. It is a delicate dance that the USA and the Philippines, good and bad, have have done for well over a century. It is hoped that the Philippine people and Americans see each other, personaly, as good people and friends who each hold other in high reguard. Pea has certainlly helped. China, Japan and Korea have declining populations, In the future the Philippine (and other nations in the area) population may be in a position to help those nations with the problems that will bring. But that is twenty/thirty, or more, years away.

I always avoid conflict and stay polite, but I had to put my foot down. Filipinos are often very shy on camera, and as you’ve heard me say many times, it can be difficult to get them to agree to an interview. They sometimes struggle with English, which embarrasses them (something Filipinos avoid at all costs). The last thing I need is someone showing up to put another camera on them, which they didn’t consent to. This just makes my job even harder, as the person I’m interviewing gets increasingly nervous and flustered. On top of that, when vloggers film my interview, they often post it on their own channels before mine is even released (I actually put work into my videos, with intros, outros, and editing, which takes more time). I don’t think I have to explain why I don’t like to see a portion of my upcoming video appearing on someone else’s channel before it’s even been released on my own. But the biggest reason is common human decency. When someone repeatedly asks you politely not to film them, and manages to keep a smile on their face (despite having been up at dawn to start looking for interviews), and the response you get is a rude comment from someone who obviously doesn’t know the culture or laws of your country, then it’s time to calmly stand your ground. We love foreigners, but we love it even more when they respect our home 😊 Thanks👍

Exactly whats happening right now in Ukr and Middle east. How about Americans sacrificing their own troops , own civilians on their own soil for a change??

China and Philippines have been neighbors for thousands of years.. When did China ever invade Philippines? Even when China at its peak (Han/Tang/Song/Yuan/Ming/Qing dynasties), China never invade Philippines, which they could easily if they want to. It took the US and Spain a few years from visiting to colonizing them. Subjecting Pinoys as their subject.. (a.k.a slaves to do as they please). Put that in perspective..

Hi Pea, I agree that the other vlogger was being rude. Excuses like it's a public place are the usual excuses that rude people like that use. You should have told him that being annoying is a crime in the Philippines (you mentioned that in a video before 😁) Regarding your main topic you just need to look at a map of the territory China is claiming in the South China Sea to see how ridiculous it is. The area they are in conflict with the Philippines over is closer to Vietnam than China. International standards show that the area is within Philippines territorial waters.

The 1734 Murillo-Velarde Map predates the so-called 9-Dash Line map (1947) used to assert China's claims over the West Philippine Sea (and so much more) by almost 200 years, invalidating China's claims. The PH's claims have been reaffirmed by the UN via UNCLOS. China is ridiculously throwing its weight around and trying to intimidate its neighbors.

China wants to rule the world by force or threats of attack and other methods. Don't look like an easy victim. I'm american, and the USA can only help other countries protect themselves. First, make laws that will discourage other countries like China from causing trouble. Small incremental punishments as they try to increase tensions with your country. Trade tariffs, travel bans or other restrictions they cause to happen by intentional acts. Like crashing into your ships cause them fines and repair costs as well as time ban on any other visits to your waters, etc.

I wonder how much the people of the Philippines are aware of sneaky U.S. pro-war propaganda. The U.S. is very interested in projecting its military power all over the world, and has military bases surrounding China. The resources of the Philippines are under U.S. control, and that is done with military powers. If they do use the Philippines to instigate a war with China, as was done using Ukraine to attack Russia, it will be very bad for all the people of the region. I pray this will not happen.

The Chinese Communist Party's management of the perception of ordinary Chinese people certainly causes tensions between China and the Philippines to be hushed up. At the same time, Filipino political elites who are dependent on the US are publicizing even minor conflicts in order to prepare ordinary Filipinos to enthusiastically participate in a possible systemic war between the US and China. China is primarily a threat to the US's global primacy, not to the semi-colonial position of the Philippines.

I can understand that You stand with the Philippines and Taiwan. China today is an arrogant great power that claims almost all of the "south china sea" disregarding international laws regulating this matter. But Ukraine is a much more complicated matter. For one there´s been an ongoing civil war since 2014 after the undemocratic coup in Kiev when nationalists from western Ukraine in cooperation with the CIA and Victoria Nuland overthrew the democratically elected regime. Myself I consider the ruling government in Kiev as illegitimate for this reason. From this perspective I also consider west Europe´s transfers of huge caches with weapons to "Ukraine" as an act of war against Russia. This does not mean that I am against the west Ukrainians. On the contrary they have my sympathies because I also know they have suffered severely under Soviet rule. But that war today is a proxy war between Russia and USA and the people of Ukraine is paying a terrible price. I am totally against that. I simply don´t want the people of Ukraine to suffer and I am pretty sure a majority of the people in Ukraine share my opinion. The problem is the regime in Ukraine that is kept in power by USA and EU.

Why are Ukraine? They instigated the war by oppressing the Russian people settling in the Donbass area of which Ukraine invited them to be there by offering them many benefits, but then only to oppress them instead. For 10 years, Russia warned them of an invasion if they didn’t stop murdering the Russian people they invited to immigrate to those areas, and Ukraine ignored that completely, as well as Ukraine building a dam to the one and only water source to the Crimea area and trying to starve them out. Of which Russia Destroyed that damn giving back Crimea their water supply. I don’t want to put you down by saying so, but there’s a very important reason to make sure you verify the history by crosschecking all the news from the mainstream media to make sure you know what is the truth and what is fake news propaganda. In that I am with Russia. All the mainstream media since then has been saying many things that have not been happening. Especially at the beginning of the Ukraine war where they showed many battles of Russia, being defeated and Russia war crimes were all stock footage of things that didn’t happen during those times. They happened years before and they just used that video to say it was happening then. Even to show an abandoned hospital that was bombed by Ukraine themselves because the hospital was destined to be demolished anyways, and then saying that it was Russia who did the bombing. When Russia wasn’t in that area at all to be able to do that for whatever reason the western mainstream media is trying to instigate a war with Russia. Same thing that’s happening in China. It makes me think that China and the USA are on the same side, only pretending to be mad at each other because nothing has actually happened physically, just words. All scripted like it’s a play on his stage. So that the world will be scared into compliance and submission.

Don't be naive! It's Taiwan and Ukraine that are on your side. Also note that the American elites have long since sacrificed Ukraine on the altar of American interests. In a moment you'll come to an agreement with Russia, and Ukraine will half disappear from the world map. I wonder who your American elites will sacrifice next in the fight for US hegemony with China: the Philippines, or maybe my Poland.

As an American Expat living in Valencia, Philippines and having a Filipina girlfriend (and her entire family) I would be honored to fight alongside the Fiercely Patriotic Filipinos who defended their country from the Japanese in WW2. It pains me to see this issue as i know it causes anguish and frustration for allot of Filipinos who are normally peaceful, happy people but they also are NOT to be messed with or underestimated as they are used to sacrifice and hardships and they see the Chinese as "Bullies" and trying to buy and push their money and weight around as they try to buy up everything. There are some good people but it is the Government of China that is being arrogant and pushy while the Philippine people have been VERY Patient and taken allot of rief but just one person losing their temper could cause a Major incident, as China needs to "Back Off" or Lose face. Big Virtual Hugs to ALL Filipinos as I am impressed everyday being here and while I'd like to help it is best for expats to stay out of political issues

Interesting segment, Miss Pea. If we study history, Japanese Imperialism from 100 years ago. is a good lesson that the Chinese have learned. They will test the boundaries of territorial control. The Philippines will be pawn in the grand scheme of things. Skirmishes are good, but China will not war with the Philippines. Taiwan is the real prize. A direct war with the US is bad for both. Too much at stake in both of their global economic interests. It's a no-win sum game. ✌️❤️

President Bongbong Marcos made a state visit to Australia in February this year during which he made an address to the Australia's Federal Parliament. Australia and Philippines have now signed a joint declaration on a strategic partnership that includes maritime security cooperation. As well as participation in joint military exercises and training. Australia has a long history of military cooperation with Philippines that goes back to WW2. My uncle served in the Royal Australian Navy during the war and his ship and other Australian ships helped to land and provide cover for US forces during the liberation of Philippines from Imperial Japan. More recently, during the battle against ISIS in Marawi there were Australian military observers on the ground and two Royal Australian Air Force P3-Orion surveillance aircraft were sent to operate over Mindanao and assist the Philippines Armed Forces with intel on the movements and location of terrorists.

Lack of "proper water boarders"? It's BORDERS BTW and they (200 NM) have been established internationally since 1982. China is a signatory to that agreement but doesnt honor it. It was an unwritten rule of the seas before that as far back as anyone can remember. China unilaterally decided to build fake islands on shoals within Philippines EEZ under the guise of simple fishing outposts then promptly built Radar stations, deep water ports, and military capable airfields. Its for the fishermen don't ya know?! Since then they claim those man made islands give them the EEZ rights to the entire eastern South China Sea, AKA the West Philippine Sea. They constantly attack and harass the Philippine fishermen and Coast Guard and continue to build more military bases.. errr... um, I mean fishing stations. It's like if we were neighbors and you came home one day and found I had installed a concrete driveway in your front yard and parked an old RV, think Christmas Vacation movie😂 and now claimed the land is all mine because I built on it. And just like the international courts have ruled against China, I refuse court orders to leave your yard. What ya gonna do about it twerp? That's Big bully China's attitude towards little Philippines. As Paul Harvey used to say, "and now you know the rest of the story."
