Just a *minor* point - they're already cooked & can be eaten cold - you're just heating them up. And a pro tip, take the cardboard box & tear it in half then slide the foil packet into the bottom half so you can hold it while it's hot.

The concept behind the American MREs are to give energy to soldiers who are actively moving around in the field for weeks on end. Its made to where one or 2 meals should be enough to meet daily nutritional values. Its also meant to boost energy instead of sapping them like certain meals do. Another benefit is MREs are made to prevent soldiers from having the runs. If a soldier got the runs in the field, its probably from the hot a's because MREs have the opposite effect sometimes making you constipated.

As a Canadian CF member who has consumed many IMP's, the meal you chose for breakfast breakfast was good. However after that you chose two dinner entrees. Lunch is where it's at, you almost always get a Chocolate bar, such as Coffee Crisp, full sized. Sometimes Jersey milk, depending on the meal. Usually any of the Pasta dishes are where the safe bets are. I have eaten American MRE's before as well, they are good, generally I like them as a change of pace. Just My thoughts.

Why are people taking this video so offensively? Stop being so overly sensitive over something meant for entertainment. How is this offensive..? This video is literally about how the food tastes it's not an actual representation of which country is better... On the side note of that , taste wise, I bet they're all delicious/edible. But to be honest, the Canadian MRE in THIS video did show more actual food over liquidy slop and "imitation" pork. If this really WAS a representation of all MRE's for both countries' soldiers, why would fellow U.S. citizens be mad at this video, when your country made these MREs. If it was the other way around, U.S. comments would say things like "canada sucks, our MRE's are better with real food, and delicious side dishes". Everyone just gotta relax...

Furious Pete, out of the US MREs, you had the most sought after one when it comes time to issuing, Sloppy Joe. However, you got to eat it like we do in the Marine Corps. You take your cheese spread and heat it up with the sloppy joe packet, once heated mix the cheese spread in with the sloppy joe plus the tabasco sauce. Nothing better than that.

When I was in the Canadian Forces we still had the Magic Pantry "Boil In The Foil". 1 Pressure Cooker and a bunch of Meal Packs and you could quickly and easily cook for at least 2-12 Man Platoons...they also fit perfectly into your Mess Tin. They would mix and match the packets, so you had to settle with what you got. Everyone would hope it would be the Sweet and Sour Pork. Packaged differently back in the 1980's-90's but still pretty much the same. To be honest...I find both Canadian and U.S. Rations to be equally good but for different reasons. No matter, in a Battlefield...any food will taste good no matter who's MRE's you're eating!

Why fighting? Because people are dumb. People just want to fight. It is not just Canada and USA, it is all over Earth. For no reason. you have to remember that the majority of america's tax money goes to the forces while canada's doesnt. its just that america uses a lot of that money to develop technology to help their army out, while canada mainly buy a few of americas tech instead of developing their own. Your acting like they have the same amount of money. If America used the money they give to the military to nasa, we'd be on mars. Also im in the canadian cadets and ill say this as a fact. The hashbrows and bacon taste like shit, so i think hes quite biased towards canada.

You got to admit that Canadian stuff looked much better. I can't comment on the taste but just looking at it, the food looked higher quality with big chunks of savory meat etc. I think the fact he declared it a tie was actually pandering a bit to the US viewers in that desert is not anywhere near as important as the main course and weighing them evenly like that in order to make it a tie was probably a bit of a cop out because he didn't want to piss anyone off by declaring the US the loser. I'm from the USA for the record, not that it really matters.

Hope Marsh the reason the United States MRES are trash is because they have over 1 million enlisted personnel which is way larger then Canada's so obviously the US is going to spend less on food and spend more on stuff such as protective equipment and rifles because after all it costs 15 grand to put a infantry man on the ground to fight for the US so they aren't going to spend much on MRES which will be a every day thing whereas equipment will be needed once for one soldier

I also gess that the fatigue, being away from your family seeing dead rotten body and everything doesn't affect moral at all no and the only moment you can rest is during your meal so yeah meal taste are important for moral. War isn't fun and all color full war is hell .

Couple tips. #1 use the tobasco and salt, that’s where all the flavor comes from. #2 don’t tear the heater bag so low and stick it in the box so it heats faster and more thoroughly #3 roll up the bag to use as a bowl. I suggest spicy penne pasta one or vegetarian lasagna. Usually the vegi ones come with more goodies.

Bobby Paluga most of us in the field simply break up the bread a little at a time and toss it into the entree then eat both with a spoon. The bread absorbs all the moisture and flavor. Also only putting in a little at a time means it doesn’t even overly soggy and texture is preserved. I never ever saw anyone make a sloppy joe sandwich successfully without a different bun being used than what comes in that mre. With that said there is a lot of horse trading between soldiers & mre’s. I’ve traded a burger bun or a gorilla cookie many times.
@nycreloader
@nycreloader 6 жыл бұрын
DOnkeyshyt clearly you can make it from a grocery store, but a grocery store doesn’t come in an MRE. Only what’s in the bag or what you can trade with other soldiers.
