uk: banned in uk. us: "not here baby, not here"
@algb31143 жыл бұрын
Meh, just because it's banned in the UK doesn't necessarily mean that it's actually bad for you. I personally don't know enough to have an opinion, but pretty important to realize that the quantities taken up by the lab rats was probably a ridiculous amount that nobody could ever take in during a lifetime even if they tried. Just b/c it's the US' rules doesn't necessarily always mean it's bad. Thalidomide was approved in Europe and caused a bunch of birth defects...but never made it to the US because they refused to approve it. And I think that the argument that BHT is used for genital herpes (it isn't. a couple studies found that it might have some use for it.) somehow meaning that it cannot be used for anything else makes no sense. Aspirin is used both for pain and for preventing blood clots...because they have these two seemingly different indications for use automatically means we should stop using it?
@xosexyanimagamergirl69xo463 жыл бұрын
Banned in the uk? What is banned lol
@algb31143 жыл бұрын
@@xosexyanimagamergirl69xo46 BHT. its an additive commonly used in bread and other foods to keep them fresher. It is controversial because the FDA has recognized it as "generally safe" while the UK and other EU countries have banned it. Research on it has been limited and inconsistent. It's one of those chemicals where people go 'well, it's used in other random applications like fuels and cosmetics so that means it shouldn't be eaten!' which is a ridiculous argument because by that logic we should all stop drinking water.
@koogle54103 жыл бұрын
algb3 BHT has been proven to cause cancerous tumour in rats.. very quickle! Banned in UK for that reason.. google it.. 😳😳😳
@algb31143 жыл бұрын
@@koogle5410 at massive doses. Any drug that's given in massive doses can cause serious issues. The reality is that hardly any studies have been conducted to come up with a serious conclusion. I don't need to "google it" I was looking at the evidence to even write about it in the first place. Many common medicines are produced from poisonous substances, but we give them in the right dosage so that they are more harmful than not. Is BHT harmful or not? Nobody can truly say at this given point in time, and anyone who does is being overconfident and not an expert in medicine. What I can tell you is that having a subway sandwich a couple times a month or something is not something to massively worry about.
