Wonderful. My father played both clarinet & saxophone in an army band during WW2. He also knew how to play the violin. He played in a string orchestra for twenty five years until he was 100. He passed last year or made his transition as I like to say at age 102. He blessed many with his music.

These guys, whatever they do, they always give it a 101%. They could have done this in their current uniforms and still would have been fantastic, but to actually dress in their Army Air Corps uniform - perfection to details. That lead singer, the looks, the voice, seems like she traveled through a time machine from the late 40's. As expected, the performance and the musical arrangement is impeccable. USAF Band is truly the best military band in the planet.

Dad left for the Army in 1942 and the sad lonely times begin for her until Dad returned in late 1945. They loved to listen to Guy Lombardo every New Years every year for the next 77 years together. I watch this every year since I first found it on KZbin. I love that, a little more than half way through, those strains of Moonlight Serenade. This is doubtless a tribute to big band leader Glenn Miller. During WWII he served in England as a US Army Air Forces band leader, entertaining troops there, especially at US military convalescent hospitals, attaining the rank of major. In December 15 1944, Major Miller boarded a plane to fly Paris in advance of his band. The plane disappeared over the English Channel.

As it can be remembered, the original US Air Force band was directed by the famous band leader Major Glen Miller who disappeared over the English Channel during WWII. The new Glen Miller Air Force Band came marching-in one unforgettable evening when I was a new Airman at Keesler Air Force back in the mid-50’s. The Base Commander led the march in front of the band with flags flowing and the band following him into Arnold Hall for the most sentimental musical concert I ever attended. We still had a lot of WWII veterans in active service, including the Base Commander and the whole evening turned into a tearjerker!!! Unforgettable to see so many people that sacrificed so much to keep us free, in one building.

+Alton Accola Just like how they record live concerts or live albums and shows. Microphones all over. Singers got their individual microphones as well as most of the individual instruments. At 1:41 you see the oboist with the microphone wire hanging from his oboe and a transmitter at his belt. The double bass player and the guitarist attached wires to their instruments before they started. The brass section were literally dragging their microphone stands, violins are equipped with remote mics as well, and so forth. At 4:44 you see a guy on the far right sitting down in front of his computer controlling the sound for the sound box. Some mics are so small these days you can hardly see them. The wires and transmitters are usually concealed on their clothing. You'll be surprised when you go to a live broadway show and learn that the actors/singers mics are attached to a strand of their hair and you wont notice it unless you stand right in front of them and look for it.
