Mr. Howe, I was in law enforcement for 36 years and I had very few co-workers carry off duty. I constantly reminded them that they couldn't protect themselves much less others without their pistols. This situation is worse nowadays. I have carried a pistol every day for the past 40 years.

Carry whatever you can comfortably carry. The little Ruger LCR in your pocket is better than the Gucci Glock 19/Mk27 you left at home. Too much gun is a real thing. You think to yourself "I'm just going to the store, maybe I'll leave that boat anchor at home today" and that's how it starts. I carry a full-sized Beretta 92FS, but my setup is conducive to carrying all the time still. I feel naked without my gun when I'm in public and you should too!

Honestly Mr. Howe as a retired COP I know many officers who do not carry off duty. Insane to me. However, most of these COPs could not shoot well enough to put a bad guy down anyway. COP recruiting changed to a customer service personality instead of protector personality. Do not count on a LEO saving the day save yourself.

1 cop per 500 citizens is not an active defense plan. 1 in 20 citizens are veterans, so maybe some psych screening and annual trainings could add some formal organic capability - like deconfliction during active shooter events, counter-espionage/counter-sabotage, and emergency management/leadership. A lot of it just comes down to same basic SOPs and communications plans. But, in an emergency, it comes down to having the tools to solve the immediate problem and avoid making things worse. Neutralize the bad guy, don't get neutralized by someone who thinks they are neutralizing the bad guy.

@@brettlaw4346 While I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree that armed civilians are a great answer to the issue ( I live in North Idaho, where most people carry, and teach civilian firearms classes), I have also trained hundreds of deputies, officers, and agents in active shooting response. Almost 95% of the time, the "off-duty" cop was shot regardless of how they "showed" a badge or tried to deconflict with responding LE. While I welcome the help, in an "off-duty" or civilian capacity deconfliction is going to be a nightmare. Think about the Kyle Rittenhouse shooting. Without context, an armed civilian may have taken him out.

Then a pray I have lived my life in such a way that I will be welcomed into the kingdom of God the father through my relationship with the son. I prefer to die as a warrior wearing the Armor of Christ protecting with love than to have lived as a coward. We are all called to live the life given to us by the father and for me to be somewhere where this type of things is happening I find it hard to see that as a coincidence, if not me than who? I have the training, competency, the audacity, and the tools so, if not me then who?

I normally carry 9mm, 380 and 357 daily, I can totally see the importance, of carrying something even 22. Keep the content coming Paul.

Video Suggestion: Drills to maximize the effectiveness of the deep concealment handgun, to compensate for lower capacity and less powerful cartridges than a standard service pistol? Excellent video! I like the format of using actual incidents as training exercises.

In my experience as a peace officer, I have found that those who choose to not carry while off duty (absent circumstances when it would be irresponsible to do so) are the ones that should not have been in law enforcement to begin with. The non off duty carrier is typically a coward while on duty and an even larger coward while off duty. There needs to be good, moral, trained armed people in the world willing to stand and deliver against all evil no matter what you do for a living.

There are people who take the job for the paycheck. There are people who don't carry because of where they live and you can guess where. There are people who do carry but don't practice enough for various reasons. There are people who do carry but think what they see from Hollywood can be replicated. You have to count on yourself and be proficient as possible.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I have been appendix carrying a G17 (that's a full-sized pistol) for about 2 years now with a Raven Concealment "Vanguard" minimalist clip. I can drive/sit without undue discomfort and because of that, I carry, rather than leaving my piece behind.

It seems like all the targets are about the size of a playing card. Would it make sense to just focus on making hits on a target that size? If you miss the card, go slower or closer, if you hit the card go faster or farther?

Playing Cards or Index Cards work well.

@@thecsatway3622I am fortunate enough to have been trained by Jeff Chudwin and company. The use of playing cards/index cards helps focus combat accuracy shot placement where it needs to go. High center chest, head, pelvic region what have you.
