Using a Ring Filer on my Mahle Rings

In this video, I discuss my technique for filing piston rings to achieve the correct gap. The target gap for my setup was 0.018" for the top ring and 0.016" for the second ring, and I achieved the following results:
1: 0.018, 0.017
2: 0.018, 0.017
3: 0.018, 0.017
4: 0.018, 0.016
5: 0.018, 0.017
6: 0.018, 0.016
7: 0.018, 0.016
8: 0.018, 0.017
As I mention in the video, the 2nd ring is made of softer metal than the top ring, so the material came off a litle quicker than expected and I went 0.001" further than desired on several of them. Not perfect, but well within Mahle specifications.
