Great tutorial! One wee tip, I never use subtract on the weight tool. There is too high a chance of having verts with no bones connected to them then they will just stay in place and not move with the model. I always use Add with the bones I know should be effecting it and then Smooth to blend it in a little (usually dropping the strength to about 30% on all of them).

Thank you for the tutorial! But I have a question about how to use Actor Core's motion in Cinema 4D? I'm trying retargeting with Mixamo's character and use Actor Core's motion. The problem is that after retargeting, the Mixamo's character's first key is always in T pose, so the result is very weird. But the weirdest thing is, if I use the r23's "Motion Capture" content, the result is great. (Just like your video's 09:48) I would appreciate it if you have any idea of that. Thank you very much.

Extremely useful tut! Thank you. Is it possible to combine several C4D Mocaps (not mixamo ones) into 1 animation sequence for the same character? How? Do I need to make separate characters and use Motion clip or there is an easier way? I want to achieve this simple (not for me) example: 1x Climbing stairs-start + 3x Climbing stairs - middle + 1x Climbing stairs-end
@JonathanWinbush3 жыл бұрын
In my experience for any kind of mocap animations to combine them I've had the best success making them motion capture clips
@philippeheritier93643 жыл бұрын
Thx for the nice tut. I can add to this, if its a walking animation. Add a parent constraint to your character, otherwise it will stay in place. 1. Select your character. 2. ctrl select your motion clip. 3. add parent constrain, in "Character, Constraint" But, there is a problem when i import an animation from Mixamo with the exact same T-posed character. Arms not following animation...

Great video as always. Never have to put you on 1.5 speed. Just got S24 and the Mayafication of Cinema continues. I think this is a good thing but the big problem in all of this is the animation layers or lack thereof. Have you gotten them to work for you. And they don't have override layers, at least what I can tell. Can't get rid of my autodesk habit even with my thousand dollar a year Cinema habit, unfortunately.
@JonathanWinbush3 жыл бұрын
Hmm I'm not sure what you mean by the animation layers do you have an example?
@drewjackson38583 жыл бұрын
@@JonathanWinbush I actually don't think cinema has what I was talking about now. In Maya and Motionbuilder, as I'm sure you know, you can layer keyframes and either add or override previous animation. I distinctly remember reading that cinema had it's own animation layersr. Or it could be one of my delusions. I started with Cinema, went to Maya and Motionbuilder, and now I'm making the transition back so I'm a bit of a noob here. You're a great resource for my denoobification.
