Finaly we can use PBR with the terrain generator in Unity ^^ i wait so long for this feature & if it works with regular substance SBSAR !!! it's pandora box for highly optimise map generator ^^ HUGE THANKS For keeping alive the plug in in Unity !!!

This is amazing! Just exactly what I've been looking for. With this, we can definitely create amazing graphics without performance cost for mobile. And Hugh fidelity textures for PC to achieve AAA realism.

Wow! This is a cool update. On the terrain portion, can the substance material be changed at runtime, i.e. add water puddles during gameplay?

Hot pancakes! This is a very cool update, loving it. Also really digging that you went ahead and made it fully bug fixed and compatible with Macs and even Apple Silicon. Does that mean that maybe an M1 native version might come for Designer too? In any case, already got an use case to test it on our current project… years ago when it first came out it didn’t look as robust, now it does! UPDATE: never mind, just updated Subtance 3D and it is indeed M1 ready

I am a bit stuck and I can't find anything on the internet. I cannot add materials to the terrain. The drag and drop works for all other objects but not terrain, am I missing something. I even used the terain tools package to create it but still cannot add materials to it. It only allows me to add textures, not the whole setup

Its different with terrains you have to create a terrain layer in terrain texture tab and assign Albedo and Normal map as for the rest of the maps you have to create a mask map to be able to use them with the terrain as that approach is much more performance friendly Tip: there is a free unity plugin that can create Mask maps for other textures if you want to do it inside of unity its called "Maskmap generator"

The only reason I want to use Substances in Unity is because sbs files are small and textures are generated at runtime. And you can keep your project size small. In this version you can set Runtime only flag, but you can not drag and hook up generated "virtual textures" to another material. It was possible in the previous version of plugin. This is huge setback in workflow and makes this asset unusable.

Alright, second post, as I got so many questions and don't know where to ask for them. It isn't completely clear how a substance's Output textures map to a shader's input... it seems like 'baseColor' usage maps to a shader's "_MainTex" Texture2D parameter, 'emission' usage to "_EmissionMap", so on and so for. However, DetailAlbedo, DetailNormal, DetailMask (and custom shaders for that matter with custom inputs) not sure what's the usage to use on the .sbsar's side so that it picks properly the material's slot Unity's side. If you can shine a light on it it would be greatly appreciated. I guess the second option would be to go "Generate All Outputs", however for 'runtime only' version it creates a bit of a conundrum as I'll have to handle it by hand (I think, pointers on this greatly appreciated too!)

Welp, can't use it. Just get a crapton of ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index whenever I import any .sbsar

HI, you can't import Smart Materials created from Substance Painter. A Smart Material in Painter is a group of layers from the layer stack. However, with sbsar files, you can use parameters to change and vary the material.

How do you import the materials ? I installed the plugin, made sure it was imported, went and downloaded a material, put it in my project folder and it just stays there as a blank file that cannot be opened ? You shouldn't have "skipped" anything in a tutorial... At least show us what you did between the download part and suddenly having readable files in your project EDIT: Turns out this plugin doesn't support the 2019.4.31f1 version. No VRChat Worlds for you boys

Sampler exports to the plugin are broken.
