That was the ABLS engaging that is a brake assisted limited slip, works while in 4 low with VDC off. When tires are spinning while you have a constant light throttle, the brakes will modulate on and off on the slipping wheel stopping it from spinning and transferring power to the wheel that's not spinning pulling you forward. Actually works really good when people know how to use it, every bit as good as my TRDs A-trac.

Vdc is equivalent to stability control, it works mostly when sliding sideways in wet or snow, ABLS is nissans limited slip by braking traction control system. You were using ABLS not vdc, just FYI!! Sick vid and sick rig brother ✌️

Similar to the setup my frontier has. The first time i used my vdc and descent mode i was a little shocked by the noises the abs system was making. It works great though just don’t be concerned by the sounds and sensation of it doing it’s job it’s all normal.

Wow.. can't wait to get my '06 looking like that. First I have to deal with P1731 code for intermittent transmission slipping/shudder before I go out and put a ton of money in new wheels, tires and the "Alger" lift (that's right, its officially coined lol). I especially loved how the wheels look!! What did you do just scuff up the indentations to give that "spokes" design, it looks super dope!! I was a bit iffy on the wheels at first, but now I'm 100% sold on this exact same setup.. it looks sick!!

Da_Q-ban_one, thank you I appreciate it, but I can't take credit for it. I got the rear lift idea from the guys over in azxc forum, theonepathfinder, and thupertrooper, if you have a chance they have some sick builds. I didn't do anything to the ProComp wheels that's the way they came and they are a good deal when I got them, around $100. I Totally agree about fixing your trans issue first, I did a quick look into it. A few people have similar problems and it's a loose tcu circuit board, don't know if that's your same problem but I hope yours is an easy fix. I would like to know what the issue is and the fix. And of course how your Pathfinder looks when your done with it.

Chris Elwell, i was very surprised the first time i used it how well it works. Yes, vdc off works in 4-Hi and 2wd. You just have more control in 4-Low. That should be a fun trip. About 5 years ago my wife and i went to Colorado and did a week of offroading with our group. We camped on the river just outside of Silverton and hit all the trails around it, but we didn't have the Pathfinder then.

Great videos! I'm thinking about getting a Pathfinder and I'm curious about the auto 4wd setting on those LEs. Have you had a chance to test it out on snowy roads? I understand how the system works but wondering about real world usage. Any idea how it compares to typical AWD or the full time 4wd that 4runners used to have? Thanks!

Chris Schmittle, I used it once in snowy conditions, all i can really say is that it worked. I was in 2wd and got on the gas and the rear started to come out so i put it into auto and got on the gas again and it kept it straight.

I live in Canada and have a Pathy with auto 4x4. It is true 4x4 with clutched center transfer case. It's not like having a center did that you need to lock like on the V8 Toyotas. I feel like it works better. You don't even have to think about it, cause it works flawlessly on snowy roads.

Hi there, so did you disable or enable VDC? VDC is enabled by default, so wondering if you turned it off. Because in mine, when I enable 4L it turns VDC off. So this was off? Thanks
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 4 жыл бұрын
4L should turn it off. whether it's on or off the apply-brake-to-spinning-wheel still applies. all VDC really does is kill power when you're coming in too hot and it senses slippage. in a sketchy situation you wouldn't want to lose power so in 4L it's off. 99% of the time if i'm on any dirt i'm in 4L so VDC doesn't affect me.

VDC is traction control to straighten the vehicle if you lose control. Xterra, Pathfinder, Frontier and Titan have "ABLS" feature that only works in 4x4Low with VDC turned off.

Nissan has vdc and.... Traction control on their 4x4 models. So it didnt matter if the vdc was turned off cause the traction control took over. Kinda confusing.... But according to nissan they have both and they are two separate systems... Kinda seems like reduncy. They say the vdc should be kept on but turned off if stuck in snow or mud. Idk lol
@algeradventures4891
@algeradventures4891 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is lol, one is for cutting power if you lose traction in wet and slippery conditions, and the other applies the brakes to the wheels that don't have traction if you are on a dirt road

My experience has been totally different in my 2008 V8 R51, with VDC being off you have one wheel peel deals on each corner. Leaving it on in off camber situations like with a tire in the air just free spinning, VDC activates the brake on the wheel that's spinning and allows the wheel NOT spinning to get some power. I'd do that same test with VDC on and see what happens. Only time I turn off VDC is when I need some power/speed coming out of a mud hole.

Lucky Thirteen, I agree, I should make a video showing the difference between having it on and off.
@algeradventures4891

When the VDC is turned off all functions of the VDC is off except for allowing one wheel to slip. In my experience with my vehicle, with the VDC off it works better. But that is just my experience with my vehicle, with VDC on it may work better for your vehicle. And you have the 5.6 so I'm pretty jealous

@@algeradventures4891 Not trying to get into an argument here, but I believe you have it backwards. With VDC off it ALLOWS the wheel to slip/spin because it has deactivated the VDC brake force to the spinning tire allowing it to free spin even more (our differentials are open). With having VDC on it senses the wheel free spinning and activates the brakes to transfer the power to the wheel NOT spinning (the one with traction) allowing you to keep the vehicle moving. Which is why in your video the pathfinder had trouble moving at first until the tire that was free spinning gained some type of traction. Basically VDC works as "like" having a limited slip differential except using the brakes to do the work instead of the differential. Would be cool to see more videos tho to do more comparisons.
@algeradventures4891
@algeradventures4891 4 жыл бұрын
@@luckythirteen2631 I agree in not trying to argue, it's just a discussion. I double checked my owners manual before my last post. It may be that Nissan could have changed something in the control unit since mine is a 2012. When I leave VDC off I get wheel spin then loss of power and no simulated limited diff, with VDC off and light pedal it locks the tires and you can hear the abs actuator working. But next time I go out I will definitely have to test it with VDC on and off.
@luckythirteen2631
@luckythirteen2631 4 жыл бұрын
@@algeradventures4891 That is correct, even with VDC off, ABS kicks in at a higher wheel speed, with VDC on ABS kicks in at a lower wheel speed difference between the wheels, so in your video not needing high speed having VDC on should have worked better, light throttle and the VDC activating the wheel spinning and transferring power to the wheel with traction/wheel not spinning.
