@@davinalopez-oz1ez How are they "always in the situation" when they didn't even go to the last World Cup? Also World Cups are short-style tournaments---there can be and often are upsets (heck, Belgium is #2 in the FIFA rankings and they're terrible, so maybe we need to play the games and not just decide outcomes based on historical reputation). I mean, if you want to comment and say "I don't like CONCACAF teams," go ahead and do that. But otherwise you're just coming across like sour-grapes.

The fact that they didn’t concede any goals in open play… AND they arguably dominated all three matches of the group stage… that’s different than past World Cup showings. Back in 2010, the results were similar but back then the style of play was primarily conservative defensive mentality mixed in with a few explosive or talented players. This group of players are all ballers who can play at a high tempo on the ball. I am worried about Berhalter’s second-half mentality, however. He seems to be stuck in the old school mentality, when the team actually look less likely to concede a goal when they are pressing their strengths in the offensive side of things and playing with urgency to get a goal.

US came fired up and aggressive from the go. Iran seemed emotionally out of it until maybe the 65th-70th min. Iran in the past usually plays very physical and direct and they weren't doing either of that. I guess when the gov threatens your fam over politics, it's hard to grind and be fired up to play.

Definitely the better team than Iran. It's always a delight to see the better teams advance to knockout stages. Hopefully Poland can do that tomorrow too because they are clearly the second best team in that group but in a precarious situation.

I enjoyed the match from the USA against Iran. Energy, winners mentality, fantastic to watch. I think our national team from the Netherlands can learn a thing or two there (let's be honest, they're a bunch of spoiled millionaires). However I still want our team from NL to win. I think NL can go different ways, we can have seen the best already. However, good teams also win bad matches, and so far NL has done that. It will be a great match to watch for sure and if the USA wins I'll support you for the rest of the tournament!

I'm a big fan of the added time. It's either that or we stop the clock at a goal, and start it back when the game restarts. So much time is wasted in a game. I think people will dislike added time until it's their team who needs to score.

No chance against the Dutch unless they improve their finishing and decisions in the 18. Netherlands have weaknesses and can be beaten. But they also have a hot striker and the US by contrast doesn't. The Dutch know how to win when they aren't at their best. US gives themselves no margin for error. Barely saw out the win today. I think Van Gaal will manage it better than Berhalter.

The Dutch always seem to destroy their group in group play, then falter in the knockout stage. I don't know the health of Memphis. No doubt Netherlands have to be the favorite, but not an overwhelming, slam dunk one. It would be a surprise if the US wins but not a shocking result

@@GR-bn3xj Def wouldn't be shocking. The Dutch were second best vs Ecuador imo. But Berhalter is now in uncharted territory. Can he put together the proper tactical plan? Can he make the right in-game decisions? Can the US score more than 1? Let's say it's another tight match. I think the Dutch have many more options and tactics from the bench to affect the outcome. But, it's been a wild WC so who knows...

I don't think so. A decent manager first has to send out his best 11 to make sure they can advance to the next stage. How could the US manager know in advance that his team would advance and thus he can keep Reyna or any other player for the next round?!!! Look at Japan: After defeating Germany, their manager decided to not use his key players for the next game against Cost Arica, and it blew in his face.
