Okay lets think about the benefits or plusses and a scenario using the arena site....Let's first name the hypothetical new ground "Aramco Scotswood Park" or "Aramco Banks'o'the Tyne Stadium". It could have it's own metro stop which runs along the existing unused old line adjacent to the arena and could extend to a park and ride facility at Lemington business park (the roads are already partially in place now). This park and ride would be easily accessible from the A1. This line could also extend the metro way beyond Lemington. There is easy access from the Central station and the city centre along Forth goods yard and the arches are ideal for a mixture of cafe and souvenir businesses etc. all of which would thrive on matchdays. There is also plenty of easy access from the Quayside along Skinnerburn road where the stadium frontage could extend down to the riverside with terraced bars overlooking the river. There is also access along Pottery lane which is also convenient for Forth Banks police station where the compound carpark backs onto Pottery lane. On the Gateshead side of the river directly opposite the arena there is some derelict land which could be turned into a carpark/ coachpark for visiting fans and maybe a possible walkway attached to the lower part of the Redheugh bridge legs for easy access across the river and directly to the stadium. Again this would also be very convenient for access to the A1. The existing heliport adjacent to the arena carpark could be turned into a proper facility attached to the stadium used to bring in VIP and VVIP visitors and the land to the east of the Redheugh bridge could be developed into exclusive hotel and visitor facilities for visiting players and officials especially during international tournaments. These ideas, along with many others, would make it more acceptable for me for a new ultramodern, increased capacity stadium and would keep the stadium itself in the city centre where it belongs. Just a thought.

Top stuff Eddy. This is my opinion I think one of the reasons that I can't see our owners wanting to build a new stadium away from SJP just yet is that they want to build a great relationship between them and the supporters so if they moved away from the city centre it would hit multiple small local businesses really hard which would leave a sour taste within the fanbase and also those that own these businesses. By 2030 to fit in with Vision 2030 I think our owners will have weighed up all of there options about how to expand SJP and if not how they will create a super stadium just like Tottenham's. So let's see what happens over the next 8 years. I wouldn't rule anything out yet as anything is possible.

Another well thought out video. But with regard to the first point Mehrdad made that statement before the clamour for the extra 1000 season tickets. The reported 30k applicants for ST's and the take up of membership, may be prompting a re-think in the boardroom. I genuinely think a move, whenever that may be, has an air of inevitably about it. The fans will be pushing for it which will give Mehrdad a get out clause.

The Arena/Calders Yard is a brownfield site, great transport links and infinitely better chances of planning permission that a rebuilt SJP. The regime should do everything they can to acquire both sites, and move quick as Eddy says

@@andrewswift9039 Hi Andrew, for clarification, I wasn’t in anyway encouraging or suggesting the owners should move quickly. I was pointing out that if they want the hand they’re forced to move quickly. @TynesideLife2 жыл бұрын
It’s not big enough. Based on the clubs desire to have world class training facilities and based on The Etihad Complex and Leicester, we need a minimum of 60 acres, probably closer to 80. Benton is just over 50, plus they want somewhere out of the way in a rural setting. They won’t want world class players getting caught up in the school run traffic
@taherajenz2 жыл бұрын
No disrespect or offence to Man City or Leicester City but the fan base of NUFC is much larger compared to each of those two clubs so PIF would naturally want something that would eclipse both Man City and Leicester, tbf Leicester isn’t their concern it’s more like they want to be bigger than Man City and PSG their Middle Eastern counterparts by showing them that they intend to have the worlds best and elite stadium and training grounds, you have to understand that PIF have a huge ego aswell.

I don't think there is any other site within the city boundaries that is practical apart from the arena site, the city has all the transport links to feed fans in and out on a match day that you can't replicate in any other location outside the city ruling out places like Kingston Park, I also think that expansion of the ground is going to be monumentally difficult, the engineering challenges alone are massive let alone the cost, if you are spending £100/£200 million to get an extra 10 to 15,000 seats is it more practical to spend £800 million on 80,000 seats elsewhere along with a host of other features that a new stadium can be built with. With regard to the 5 points raised and in particular the first one all I can say is that as with any business that makes a definite commitment, plans change.

Surely the "easiest" solution (nothing is easy granted) for increasing capacity is the reintroduction of terraced areas. Playing devil's advocate ok. Yes the owners have said that they don't want to move stadiums but to help with the progression of the club a new stadium is a real possibility in my opinion. We have now at least 30 000 people locked out of St. James Park. The extra revenue that that would bring is enormous and would assist the club immensely from a financial point of view. Can you imagine other clubs coming ti the new St James Park with 80k plus of fans, the intimidation factor would also help us win more games. The land at the Arena looks perfect to me, even with the caviats you've mentioned. I believe that we must move to a new stadium and I realise that will not be popular with everyone. Hi Eddie, great videos. I certainly don't think the owners purchasing the land would allientate many fans, and it would be a good investment to buy the land and if there is no expansion plans at St James', atleast the option is there. There was 30k ppeople wanting a season ticket when released, so the demand is definitely there. The land will hold value and they could themselves build housing or the training complex plus hotels even. How large an area is parklands in acres. Not 100% sure of the boundaries of the land, so I can't measure it myself.

A state of the art mega stadium & training facilities is going to happen under PIF make no bones about it even if it means PIF have to take the unfortunate decision to move away from SJP and the traditional city centre but if PIF and fans want NUFC to become like an elite club than these tough decisions have to be made but I guarantee in the long run it will all be worth it. Elite facilities means more income, gate receipts, fanbase, world class players, coaches. This would also very much please FFP strict demands due to the income coming in. PIF is a business like any other business, it’s job is to think about their investment and to make it grow organically and that is to make NUFC a world class club. PIF are day and night business savvy than the owners of Man Utd & Everton, it cant be compared, PIF are much more superior and fans will see what I mean by that soon.

@TynesideLife2 жыл бұрын
There isn’t a waiting list as such Mike and there are several significant reasons why a new stadium is the least likely thing to happen. I’ll summarise two. 1. The owners have told us they’re not going to build a new stadium, or Compromise the history of the club, or city. 2. It makes no economic sense to an investment fund to splash out around £2bn just to gain 25-30k seats. The Saudi PIF bought a premier league club to generate and stimulate economic revenue streams in Saudi Arabia, not (primarily) the other way around. A modest expansion of St James’ Park to around 60k is achievable and is in keeping with significant global economic turmoil and insecurity. Oh go on… 3. There’s nowhere in the city to build a new stadium anyway, within the timescales necessary to secure any potential land.

I think everyone would love to stay at At St.James and we can enjoy it.long term can we lock out new generation fans or existing fans probably not in a decade I think we will move unless pif and council come up with something to keep us at home

Eddie this would be an ideal opportunity to invest in a local lower league club whose ground could easily be expanded to whatever the Toon fans think they'll need! Excellent transport links to Newcastle city centre too! We might even let you put a few black'n'white seats amongst the pink ones (if the price was right of course!). Just need to renegotiate that name.....😅

Why not buy the land and build your training ground you can do a lot of training on 26 acres.
@TynesideLife2 жыл бұрын
I’ve done a comprehensive video on the training facilities the club want and need. They’ll need an absolute minimum of 60 acres but probably 80-100. 👍🏻

Amazing how easy Sunderland found that free land so close to city centre ,for the stadium of light in saying that st James already bigger capacity .

Everybody likes the idea of a massive stadium. But the bigger a stadium the more of those fans will be further and further away from the pitch. The affordable seats for most people will be miles away. How can you enjoy a game when you can barely see what's going on.

Nothing to stop them buying the land for a training complex

What about hunters Moor up beside the BBC surely the council could sell them that bit land there it looks big enough then they could take st James Park over and have quite a few pop concerts on and make a he'll of a lot of money for newcastle Council so everyone would be happy

Definitely won’t happen Ozzy. That was tried in 97 under Sir John Hall on Castle Leazes next door and there were huge protests. The owners are definitely committed to staying at St James’ Park 👍🏻

Hi Eddie, Newcastle could have a new olympics sides stadium. named something like, Newcastle Quayside Olympics Stadium. If this happened it could bring M£$£Y in too the city.
