Love Tyrone Mings but the amount of times I've seen him make a weak pass that gets intercepted is criminal, it happens every game he's played. Almost like he's a bit too relaxed sometimes when moving the ball around and not sensing the danger.

Passing the ball majority of the game at the back. Telegraphed slow passes leading to the long ball as there’s no movement Every player seems to set in there positions no fluidity. Intensity of our football is our issue in my opinion which is the most frustrating because when we’re down a goal and start playing we show we can play.

Torres is a huge loss for the team in terms of his ability to read the game and marshal the back four. He has everything you want from a CB, apart from lacking a bit of pace, which can expose us if he is forced to cover if a player loses possession or passes are continuously intercepted when playing out from the back. We haven’t got enough defenders who are naturally comfortable on the ball and we are vulnerable when an opposition tirelessly harry the back line. It forces errors and the resulting loss in confidence is visibly evident. A top CB and quality cover is much needed. Great channel and content. Great work, well done to you both. UTV.

Buendia may not have the legs after such a long run out in Monaco, but if fit, I'd definitely play him as the 10 and drop Tielmans back to 8 next to Bouba. At least you can guarantee with Buendia a ton of effort, passion, and possibly even a yellow, but he's worth having another look at.

I acknowledge Hannah's points and as usual I mostly agree. However, I do feel Unai should shoulder more of the blame (for the Monaco joke) than he appears to be. Yes he admitted fault with the Duran sub but is clearly calling out the players for not carrying out his plans, which is also fine. But looking at that starting XI vs Monaco 8 of the 11 were there under Gerrard. Unai has bought 22 players since he joined! Admittedly, some are forced due to PSR, some are for the future, but overall 22 players and you're still playing 8 from before you joined... why are you not significantly improving the starting XI? There's always caveats, like injuries and form, and there's zero doubt he has improved every player(!) but from all the new players he's bought, who he's studiously identified as fitting his style, why are they not playing ahead of Gerrard's boys? This is by no means an 'Emery Out' type post! Far from it, I love him and very grateful for what he's done for our club on the pitch, just that I feel there should be more accountability than saying the players don't have the mentality that he wants.

Villa are in a new phase of their development ..Every game has something on it ..this a new thing , keeping the team up every game is difficult .. We’ve been unlucky , because the manager couldn’t change things , Mcginn /Barclay injuries..etc .. As tight as we are on players i want to see bailey sat on the bench, fit but frustrated. He plays like he has just seen a ball for the first time far too often. Malen and Ramsey to give us width, we need more from ramsey. He's so often injured but capable of really being dangerous, convinced malen can bag a debut goal. Happy to see Duran lead the line and stick it on the hammers again, rest watkins but bring him on for last half hour to run them ragged

I think Bailey isolated out there. Mallen behind Watkins and Bailey stay in his place Rogers on the left. Same as last season Mallen replaces Diaby. Run it if he is not fit the Buendia deserves a run 70mins then bring on Mallen to start building his minutes.

Unfortunately as much l love mings he makes far to many mistakes and at the very top doesn't work and now it's costing us in very important games . Konsa is the most constant . And cash does a job . All have come so far from the championship so got to respect them but they are squad players and need replacing in the first team long term l feel . Lets hope we can win as the league may save our season now . The cracks seem to big to win a champions League and maybe a fa cup . Unai is frustrated with the lack of determination and spirit. Especially that Catalan fight, which he is used too, which I witnessed watching CL Benfica v Barcelona thats the standard Villa are up against. Thats the gap we have to close, against teams that have in their DNA a never say die attitude, they strive to win for the full 100 minutes, 45 minutes is never enough in modern football.

Bayern, City, Dortmund all lost away from home.... thought Monaco were a very athletic, energetic side, and they caught us on an off day.....
