Car looking good, in a mean kinda way. A four pinion diff is a great upgrade. I have machined and fitted them from Toyota SUV axles. They tough,have limited slip or locker and can stand all the abuse you could ever dish out. Well maybe not you!
@InvincibleExtremes6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Wilson I'm putting in a ford 8.8 diff later down the road, so I have no plans on replacing the r200. Except for maybe getting a stronger carrier... the 2 pinion shaft is the only real weak link on those things.

Nice video! Only thing I didn't like and I understand why you went that way is the hydraulic clutch. I've had a few slaves go out and leak on the clutch at which point it's a new clutch. I prefer mechanical because of that issue. If a mechanical fails you replace a broken part and go on about your business. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the ease of a hydraulic clutch, but when that slave leaks on the clutch and you have to spend a lot more than you would to replace a broken linkage it's a deal breaker for me. Love the video and keeping you guys in our thoughts.
@InvincibleExtremes6 жыл бұрын
The Goat "One Piece at a Time" it's not an option for a datsun. Plus this isn't the final resting place of that engine. So having a flexible hose makes it easy to move the engine to the rear when I'm ready to do that. Mechanical clutches require the engine to be where it is and so on... And it'd be way more expensive for me. A $50 clutch disc isn't a deal breaker for me at this point.

Awesome videos!!! I believe that's the same Speedway hyd throwout bearing I used on my last project, 5.3/T18 CJ-7, I was a little shocked to read in the directions that you're NOT supposed to leave any clearance so the bearing isn't constantly spinning, did you notice that? Totally backward from any other throwout bearing! I have no expectation it's going to last very long, but I've been beating the shit out of it all summer and it's been fine so far...

Cool ride, I'm wondering why you didn't move the motor and Trans back more and use. A smaller distributor that way better weight distribution and no monkeying around with the shifter location
@InvincibleExtremes6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Cahill because right now it has an aluminum driveshaft that's the perfect length. My plan is to lower and move the engine more to the rear, BUT only after I swap in a ford 8.8 which is shorter than my current datsun diff. See? I'm a penny pincher with a plan... That way I keep my aluminum driveshaft, just move the entire drivetrain back to make everything work.
It would be nice to see the 69 Charger on the road I hope that you do it GOOD LUCK

@InvincibleExtremes6 жыл бұрын
Remedy Z you have to polish the spider gears a bit. They don't just go in. Dunno if you caught the difference between the factory gears and the sanded ones. Besides that, using a clamp helped get the tip in... after that I carefully had someone hammer them in while I held on for dear life.
@caubichon16 жыл бұрын
As the clutch wears the fingers come away from the engine, no? You might find it engaged all the time after some wear with no way to remedy short of removing more shims

caubichon1 yeah, mine has a bit of a gap, so the tiny margin of finger movement shouldn't hurt me too much. But that is a very good point I hadn't considered at the time, I just made the gap bigger just because ...

great video as always man! i have a question for anyone that can answer lmao.. is 2500 a god price for a 280z with a blown motor? paint is rough, interior is damn near perfect and its been sitting for 10+ years.. i have a 350 chevy bored out and cammed, thats why it doesnt bother me that the engine is blown. any help is appreciated. Its my goal to own one i just dont know the market so i cant judge on good or bad prices...
@InvincibleExtremes6 жыл бұрын
Gunzz honestly that's a $1,500 to $2,500 car depending on rust... It's worth it, BUT anything after 1975 is going to be a pain with emission regulations in some states. Great cars though, either way you won't regret getting one of the body is solid. If it's not, then offer a little less.
@SilenTsGunzz6 жыл бұрын
thanks for the reply! The only rust is where the paint chipped off, a little on the fenders and on the hood. its been sitting in a shed for the 10 years it hasnt ran. The area in colorado im in there are very loose regulations on emissions. There is a law around here that you HAVE to swap an engine thats either the same year or newer. I pulled the engine out of a 74 blazer so theres a problem with getting a z car thats older than a 74.
@InvincibleExtremes6 жыл бұрын
Gunzz well that sucks... thing is though, how would they know? A chevy 350 Could be from a 68 blazer too. Same casting number
