For anyone who doesn’t understand safe, Euclid, and keter classes, essentially use the box metaphor: - If you can put it in a box and either just leave it or maybe if it’s a person give it food and comfort, it’s safe. - If you have to put it in a reinforced box or consistently have either a camera or a person monitor it, with a procedure in rare case of escape, it’s probably Euclid. - If you can’t put it in a box thanks to something like teleportation, eating the box, or rapid expansion, it’s probably keter. Other classes: Thaumiel, where it either helps the foundation or is the box. Apollyon, where it’s literally unstoppable, and more listed on the scp wiki.

correct, safe means that it does not pose much risk of escaping unless something goes terribly wrong, usually require a level 0 (button)-2 keycard to enter the containment area. Euclid means it is either not fully understood and it is hard to come up with an optimal containment procedure or it is simply difficult to contain, usually require a level 2-4 keycard to enter the containment area. Keter means it is very difficult to contain, and advanced procedures are necessary to contain it, usually require keycards 4+ to enter the containment areas.

Ok so I see a lot of people getting this wrong- so I am gonna clear this up, as someone who has been around since very early on in the SCP community then left and has came back only recently, a lot of people have been saying recently (as if correcting others) that the classifications of safe, Euclid, and keter and so on and so forth are the difficulties of containing the scp and not necessarily what it's results may be if it does escape and while that may be true as of now- ik that at least is not how it was originally. Originally the distinction between each class was *both* how easy/difficult it was to keep contained and how good/bad the scp escaping could be. Like scp-173, if it escapes, has the same level of deadly-ness of some "weaker" keter scps like "the old man" and "the hard-to-kill reptile" (forgot their scp designations at this time) but due to how simple and easy it is to contain 173- I would argue that 173 is nearly as easy to contain as some "safe" class scps- 173 is a Euclid class scp. And for that same reason since "the old man" and "the hard-to-kill reptile" is much more difficult to contain- they earn the rank of "keter". Note: by "weaker" in this I didn't mean the scps were "weak" or "not powerful"- I simply used the term "weak" for lack of a better term- what I meant is that unlike some scps they most likely can't nearly instantly kill the majority of the planet within a maximum 24 hour period of time off of purely their own abilities.
