@@biggy_fishy If you believe vaccines are safe, you need to listen to the deposition of Dr. Stanley Plotkin (the so-called "godfather of vaccines") by attorney Aaron Siri. The 'safety' studies are a joke and nothing like what is required for every other pharmaceutical ever made. Once you treat MORE than one kid for Opsoclonus Myoclonus - as I have as a pediatric neurologist - within 48 hours of receiving a childhood vaccination, you know the medical industrial complex is lying and has been lying for decades. Vaccines have the potential to cause harm. Period. The healthiest adults alive today are the ones who had intuitive parents that chose not to have their children vaccinated. Once the second dose has been administered then this is the vaccination completed. So in all reality the UK have vaccinated very little folk. They are massaging the numbers big time. Boris Johnson and his entourage are playing with folks lives here make no mistake. First jabs dont count as a vaccination, it is when the recipients have received the second dose that this number should be registered as 1 completed vaccine. Other countries are looking to be slower than the UK because they are registering their vaccinations once the second dose is delivered.

Hey Doc, question for you. You mentioned the prevalence of influenza being down primarily because we are masking and social distancing. How does that affect natural immunity to things like the common cold if we go a couple of years without getting it because we are masking and social distancing, and all of a sudden we go back to not doing that. Will we have the same immune system response that we had before, or will it be more detrimental?
@monykalynf36043 жыл бұрын
Not an epidemiologist but actually concerned about this with the elderly population-immune system needs challenges to stay up to speed (exactly how vaccines work!) so how will this severe isolation play with elderly who already have waning/not as 'fit' immune systems when suddenly re-exposed to everyday viruses? Read or watched something on this-how multi-generational households the older set actually go through the illness the kids bring home, but milder cases than the older set who gets exposed to same stuff but without the constant challenges the multi-gen household has (if that makes sense-essentially multi-gen households the older set gets less sick when exposed to same contagion).

As I understand the data from Johnson and Johnson there is some doubt as to whether their vaccine was less effective in South Africa because of he variant or because of the high level of HIV in participants. We have yet to hear from the UK labs the situation when the vaccines is challenged by the neutralizing antibodies and T cells from the few persons that contracted this variant but who were not infected with HIV, as AstraZenneca have done for the Kent variant. On the claim that a bad reaction is good because it shows the T cells and antibodies are being formed during my life I have been vaccinated against many more deadly diseases than Cov-2 - yellow fever, cholera, smallpox, polio, typhoid etc and never had side effects as bad as with these mRNA vaccines, and I understand the side effects from the adenovirus based vaccines do not have such strong side effects either. So is this really an effect of the mRNA or is it an adverse response to the PEG and lipids in the nano particle carrier. On the question of time between doses the graphic provided by Pfizer shows that the incidence of Cov-2 cases flattens after 12 to 16 days suggesting the full 80% efficacy iis achieved at this point and this is the basis of the UK delaying the second dose much as it has been found that delaying the second dose of the Astra Zenneca by up to 15 weeks increases its effectiveness. Due to thraccines eats by the EU to stop supply of the Pfizer vaccine to the UK and so deny those persons who have had the first shot the booster the UK already has trials under way to examine mixing Pfizer and AstraZenneca and other vaccines manufactured in the UK such as Valneva and Novavax. On masking and social distancing after vaccination there is a lack of logic at play. You are assuming that everyone is at risk from Cov-2 yet we know that only around 5% to 10% of the population are at risk of death from Covid -19 and that the vast proportion of those under 65 are not and will only have mild to no symptoms and so do not need a vaccine, especially as about 40% of he population has natural immunity or cross immunity from prior corona virus infections. So once the vulnerable have been vaccinated with their booster shot life should return to normal with little risk and the Fauci concept of 80% vaccination to reach herd immunity is pure BS. The AstraZenneca vaccine is based on an adenovirus carrier like J& J and Sputnik, just that it is from a chimpanzee and so unlike the others should have a higher adjuvant effect. On the false claims it is not effective in the elderly the serology studies show that this group has a similar T cell and antibody response to the under 55 group and somewhat better than the 56 - 74 group and so is likely to have the same efficacy as J&J and Sputnik. Differences between vaccines in trials probably reflects differences in baseline immunity and challenge by variants as they have taken place in different countries, age profile and presence of otherwise of comborbidities - with Pfizer and Moderna trials being pre variants.

I wonder 2 things. One: Are flu rates lower due to remote schooling and hybrid causing less infectivity due to distancing. The Japanese did an interesting social experiment accidently in the 70s. They had mandatory flu shots to attend school. The death rate was so so low. Then "enlightenment", "you can't make me vaccinate my kid" sentiment caused them to weaken and say, ok no longer mandatory to have flu vaccine to attend school. Ok, the flu vaccinations in school age children dropped off, but slowly. The thing is that the flu death rates dramatically increased. (I'm coming to a point, I promise). The weird thing is, who died? NOT children. It was the elderly. So, if you want to decrease death rates from the flu, who should you vaccinate? Children. So point 2. Actually more a question. Should we try to vaccinate more children to decrease spread of COVID. Is this flawed thinking? We have had to close sections of our schools down due to children who do infect class mates. We've seen it. Would it be better to vaccinate our children for COVID?

I did not say that I had long haul Covid. I do know people who do have it and their lives have been severely compromised by it. I was trying to say that hearing that the vaccine may not be effective for the South African variant worries me and might prevent me from being safely able to travel to see my daughter. That is it. I am grateful for the vaccine. I hope it works. I am concerned by people who have so little concern about the people who have long term illness after mild-moderate Covid. Believe me, as a nurse with knowledge of the hell of COVID-19 patients in ICU, anything that can prevent that is top priority. Gee, I hope my comment is more clear now.

LOVE this interview!! Good gravy is Dr Offit a brain!! I'd like to think I get smarter by osmosis when I listen to him but I often find myself just going-WHY isn't this guy-along with Dr P-the voices for messaging on this whole think? Fauci may be briliant but there IS a reason he's survived so many different administrations (including this last shitshow one). And he's tayloring messages for manipulation-DONE with it and most people who pay attention are too.

The answer to your question of what Paul Offit does for fun these days -> come on your show and have fun. I can sense how he wanted to keep going but couldn’t because of the wack interviews he’s about to go to with CNN, etc.

Dr Z i truly love your and Paul Offit’s optimism but why is it thst Dr Osterholm from university of Minnesota going on national news this past weekend saying we are going to see a category 5 hurricane and worse times than we have ever seen coming soon because of the South African strain.. what gives??

I had a real sore arm after first dose, maybe a bit of warm feeling. After second dose, less of a sore arm and maybe a couple hour period of feeling funny about 2 days after shot. Maybe the nurse missed my muscles!

Do we know yet if you can pass along the virus after vaccination? Is the 95% preventing shedding as well?
@ballboys6073 жыл бұрын
Unless I missed it in the video, pretty sure none of the vaccines are proven to prevent shedding as of now, and I believe the Oxford vaccine showed definitively it doesn't prevent shedding. It's possible they reduce transmission still, and the consensus is that it's unproven but is probably going to reduce transmission.

@ballboys6073 жыл бұрын
@@sallys9632 Ideally, yes, but realistically people are going to do what they feel is acceptable after vaccinating (not that it's stopped some people before vaccinating). If we're just looking at COVID spread, for now we should still continue to social distance and mask up.

I don’t think they ever mention dogs in here. They are going to shed whether you’re vaccinated or not.

Is donating blood plasma after having tested positive for Covid antibodies really as useful as the blood banks say they are? Have any of the politicians, sports stars, celebrities that have tested positive started going to blood centers and donating their blood plasma for people who have covid and could use those antibodies they have in their blood?
@MrJimmyJoe60003 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I still wonder whey all those sports stars, celebrities don't post about giving plasma even if it is still experimental.

Why won't Moderna disclose who paid for their patents?
@JesusCsus3 жыл бұрын
@@flagmichael If this is a public health issue and not political then it has everything to do with knowing who's paying for these patents. Johnson&Johnson is paying a 48 BILLION dollar settlement for opioid dependency and you don't think people have a right to know who's funding this? This is a time for transparency and integrity and not secrecy and politics unless something dubious is at hand.
