I have been a huge fan of Sir since early 80's till now, have been admirer of his composition. One thing i have observed in him is he is a bit arrogant/not humble, takes whole credit for the song..atleast i have not seen him praising vividely in any public functions/programs unlike SPB. Being a hardcore fan of SPB, it gives me great sadness that Sir never praised SPB with whom he has got inumerable # of hit songs and he has never been reciprocative to SPB's mutual admiration of Sir!

ILAYARAJA bestowing SPB with 1200+ songs thereby adorning the singer's career (the most SPB sang for a single music director) is a HUGE appreciation and love for the golden voice. That is the MAXIMUM (REAL) praise any composer could give to a singer! SPB's cousin quoted SPB telling him "Whatever I have today is because of Ilayaraja's music. I owe my career to him". What is so wrong if IR is "not humble" in YOUR baseless opinion?! You have quarter-baked eggs nowadays dancing in mid-air after participating in a mere TV show.

Would you have been happier and praised IR, if he had showered mere "fake words of praise" on SPB, BUT only gave him 10 "trending hits" and 10 not-so-good songs (which is what usually OTHER composers do)?

As @BC99 said it, each person's way of appreciating an artist is different and we must honor that. Raaja's very giving thousands of super duper songs to SPB and SJ says it all - to make you feel better, I watched a Telugu TV interview in you tube in which he was asked why he gave so many songs to SPB/SJ - Raaja said without hesitation that he is madly in love with their voices/talent. But we cannot expect or force him to say this everywhere, just to be politically correct or to please others.

He is a genius and a real achiever who has produced original music! No harm in having " Thalaikanam" when you see that people who are mere pygmies in terms of talent and achievements before him are behaving as though they are great!

Raja Sir, definitely you are one of the greats there is no doubt about it ... I have enjoyed and lived in your music in my teens almost till my mid 30s... But the problem here is you are blowing your own trumpet, but I don't see U giving credit to your musicians,, don't make it only yourself and your creativity all the time; how many musicians have you created/given opportunity to?

"It is HIS trumpet"; he has the right to blow it infinite times! You are so myopic that you cannot / chose not to see others doing the same! Has any other composer prior to IR, or those came after IR given "credit" to musicians?! IR has given opportunities to SEVERAL, and also groomed flautists like Sudhakar, Napoleon etc. YOUR PROBLEM is ILAYARAJA, his indelible name and immortal music. If at all "someone" credited some names in an obscure CORNER of CD label*, it is ONLY BECAUSE artists' INPUTS / ideas (what 90% of musicians said, who worked with him) were "incorporated" into "his" music (*similar to movie end credits which no one bothers to read)! There are interviews by several musicians who worked for that person saying "they composed" certain parts of the songs, but CREDIT WAS NEVER GIVEN as "composers"; and even in those RARE instances where he did credit, people only perceive it as "his" music!! So, WHAT is the POINT? Is it even feasible to incorporate 100 names in a humble cassette label that sold for Rs.10?! Are your "demanding" questions reserved ONLY FOR IR, or have you asked the same to other music directors as well? Hope you are still sane after your "30s"!
