He is the epitome of what a great sports talk show host looks like. I’m beyond grateful 97.1 stood by him when the Lions went after him. They won in the long-run. I live in Detroit but I don’t at all consider myself a fan of this team. Like Mike, I will support them when they start to do well, but the staff/ownership STILL don’t seem to care that they should be better, because there are so many fans who continue to blindly support this mediocrity. And those are the fans who are saying “DOES THAT MEAN THAT JERK MIKE WONT BE HERE ANYMORE?” Think about it. The fact that the afternoon show (hilariously and TRUTHFULLY) bashed this organization for their failures (which they totally deserve) for years. And the decision makers were so upset they decided to move from literally one of the BEST sports radio stations in the country to a boomer AM station. That’s not what winning organizations do. This was ANOTHER reactionary move by the Lions execs, because they aren’t getting any traffic on AM. This team doesn’t have my respect. And unfortunately there are still hundreds of lemming fans who continue to side with the org and be mad at Mike and the crew for “being too harsh.” If you want to hear that everything is okay with this dumpster fire franchise, then don’t turn in from 2-6pm. Listen from 10-2 instead.

The last time our Detroit Lions won a playoff game was in January of 1992 against the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional playoffs. We gave them a beat down of 38-6. This was part of the 1991 season. That's a VERY LONG time ago. Very sad. But that's all going to finally change with a new GM head coach and personnel. At least the Lions are trying to change the culture. I think Shelia is realizing that the status-quo hasn't been working. Hiring Speilman and Sanders is a step forward. And coming back to this station, although an obvious move, shows that they're not afraid of criticism. WCF and Martha did the same things their whole life. Shelia is actually starting to use her head. Not saying everything is amazing, but I'm seeing some small changes that I'm liking. And hopefully they rejoined with the expectation that Mike will rip them if they don't do the right thing.
