A few things “wrong”. Whilst the Valyrians claim they got their dragons from volcanoes, it’s much more heavily implied but characters investigating that the dragons are artificial and were created with magic to be weapons. In aside time this, other history reports dragons were “given” to valyria either from Asshai (magic city) or even more mystical, the people who live beyond the shadow. However, “given” could easily mean these magical beings taught the Valyrians how to make dragons. And note, Valyria became very very strong in blood magic. They basically set up penal colonies where the slaves would be experimented on. The Vyrians were not good people. The dragon lord families were all intensely perfect looking and married brother to sister whenever possible. They likely had magic in the family. But it was all built upon the sacrifice/murder of many to awaken these powers..
