Thank you for the holiday wishes. I have been a subscriber for near the beginning when you had less than a thousand... I did not know then that I would find myself traveling solo, but following you and about a dozen other women that are traveling solo and making wonderful memories gives me hope that I will start to come out of my grief at the loss of my life mate and have many years of joy and adventures. I am so thankful for my late spouse and the family we reared together, but sad that we did not get to travel to all the States and the world together as we had planned. Because he passed just before Christmas last year it has been a bit of a struggle to rekindle the joy that was so much a part of the season. Tom loved the holiday season because of the gatherings were we spent time with family. At least family time has not changed. Solo travel time in the vans makes me realize I can continue the travels we started together and the joy and fulfillment will still be there. Thank you again for all your videos and I wish you are wonderful holiday season. I am looking forward to seeing your content next year.

I’m so sorry for your grief. I know the holidays are especially hard. My mom used to love Christmas. She had a collection of all these Santas dressed in different attire from different countries. I miss her enthusiasm for decorating and making her home so inviting. It’s been 5 years now and I miss her every day. But I feel her with me in very powerful ways. @@LadyBugout Thank you, and yes, a few times I have felt his presence, especially when I have been in the camper van we purchased almost a year before he passed away. In 9 months we had some great trips in the big van together and he seemed to be really happy when we were using it. He was not comfortable driving it, but I never had any issues with how it drives. I don't drive it if it is windy though and even though it can easily go over 85 mph, I prefer to drive it between 55 and 65mph, just because the fuel economy is up to 35% higher at lower speeds. I'm glad we found this Van instead of ordering a new one, because we would not have gotten to do the trips we did in it, because he passed away before a new van would have been delivered. I think we would have only been able to pay for 90% of the new van with the cash we had saved. We had cash left over to travel after buying the older camper van. It was built one year before the OBC systems came out in trucks and vans, but we both loved the engine and transmission in the Dodge Ram 3500. I am so lucky my Mother is still in good health and lives near my homebase, she's in her 90s. I will keep you in my prayers that your heart will heal from your Mother's loss.

Very interesting. Spending an extended period of time with yourself can have many different outcomes. Some find they don't like themselves very much and opt to change. My recent 6000 mile solo, car camping trip(haven't made it to a small van) was so empowering. I didn't know what I was capable of at 72 years old having never travelled that far alone. I feel like a new person with a boat load of new confidence. Had a bunch of challenges on the trip like sitting out a hurricane in my car...but I made it. My solo run business of 36 years has kept me from any serious travel but I was determined to make this trip happen. The beauty I saw and people I met far surpass the fears and challenges. I thank people like you who share their helpful advice and hints..what a blessing!

I miss doing holiday things with my teens, but we are meeting at a coffee shop tomorrow to exchange gifts-mostly pins and patches, and finds from my travels, a deer vertebra, some cool transparent quartz. And, what will bring smiles: giant stuffed banana slugs! My hope for the coming year is to actually meet other van lifers, and finding community. Peace and joy to you!

Preparing for the New Year ~ 2024: well...I had just had the following experience when I sat down and began to watch your video. Today I stood in the doorway of my van, not in any hurry to get out, enjoying the 66 degree warmth, and my eyes beheld the most beautiful view! I saw a firebush, brilliant in dark crimson leaves, surrounded by lush green grasses, and bold green bushes. After a light rain, the road/or drive that was overhung by trees and near the firebush, was topped in green algae, soft and full of life. And the sky was a beautiful medium blue sprinkled with lots of white drifting clouds. And I began to think on the goodness of the Lord: on His kindness and graciousness to me, spreading His peace and warmth upon me. For me this is like preparing for the next moments ahead, as I am assured the New Year will be filled with Him!

Reason being is that past relationships made me feel like I wasn't "lovable" and therefore it was hard for me to love myself. It took being by myself to find out how much I love "me" and being with "me" that I've just only wanted to be with "me" and Bella (previously Buster before he passed away). I love me so much that I never want another person in my life who can see "me" for who I am. Thank you for sharing and love your channel. You've been my inspiration. Hi Dee. I think it's great that you want to share your feelings with us. This testifies to an inner strength. I too am like a yo-yo with emotions this time of year. My brother suddenly passed away. So I'm still in mourning (aorta burst. TIP for everyone, have an ultrasound done every year🙏). I was also blessed this year with my 3rd grandchild. We welcomed the first boy into our family. What a blessing . Life amazes and surprises us in good and bad moments. A school to accept things as they are. And love for yourself teaches you to love. You are a beautiful soul and worthy of self love. And it is very emotional when that realization hits. I have learned to give myself a break with my time on the road. I don't need to be perfect - I need to be happy. Perfection is not happiness. Happiness is being able to laugh at your own mistakes, brushing the dirt off when you fall, and knowing it all is a learning experience. I give everyone else grace - I'm learning to treat myself as good as I treat others. You were a huge catalyst for the directional change in my journey. I live in a tiny tourist town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. Like you, I drive a 2012 TC cargo van, but silver. There aren't many TCs around here but the ones that are, are either silver or white. This past summer and fall the occasional red TCs started showing up and every time I would perk up and look for black dots only to have a momentary twinge of disappointment when they didn't have any.
