HI, my name is Hannah and I used to live and travel in a van but the engine died and I decided it was time for an upgrade so I purchased a Ford F250 and a Lance 865 truck camper.
Van life was great but I was tired of unsuccessfully driving my van in the snow and shivering to keep warm. I decided it was time for living in a van to come to an end and living in a truck camper to begin! The truck camper is perfect for living and traveling in both the Sierra Nevada mountains and Southern California beaches!
As a female traveler, my little tiny home has all the modern conveniences I could ever need. I find it much easier to live and shower in my truck camper than it ever was to shower in a van. These are just my personal preferences at the moment, I still really love living and traveling in a van and will very likely buy another one once I find the right van for me!
Follow along and take a look inside as I give you a full tour! Thanks so much for watching!

I lived in a lance 1170 for a few years and absolutely loved it. I recommend using the dry-z air de-humidifiers or some sort of dehumidifier since moisture/mold can kill these things. I am a fan of the froli spring system for under the bed to keep it fresh under there...I killed my fridge by running while not level - cost 1k to fix....

I love living full time in my 2018 Lance truck camper model 850 and 2018 Ram 3500 dully truck. I stay in the north east PA southern NY area. Fully self-contained and no freezing water issues. Thank you!!! I really took the time to make sure the truck could handle it. Considered an F150 eco boost with added payload but knew it wasn't the right choice, went with the bigger 250 and haven't had any problems! I do know some of the larger rigs definitely need the 350 or higher though.

Truck campers are very practical. The only thing I don't like about them is having to exit the vehicle in order to enter the camper. With a van or small motor home you can park and go straight to your living quarters. This is especially important during stormy weather or potentially unsafe areas.

Nice demonstration of the Lance. I've been looking at Lance trailers, which are very well designed, if expensive. One thing that always bothers me about RVs is all the wood (used in counters, drawers, etc). It looks nice but adds weight, so of course I prefer aluminum framing, etc. ... This would be a good setup for excursions of a few weeks as the small quarters would be tough for long-term use. ...Very upbeat young lady. Good camping. 😘

Congratulations!! I'm about to get my 3rd camper. 1st was a pop-up actually stored real close to whare this video was filmed. On a f150, 2nd camper on a 94 7.3 f350 dually it had a wet bath like yours, I really want a dry bath now. My pop up had a refrigerator like yours, now I want at least a 6 sf, separate freezer and fridge. Both I've used for skiing and from Mexico to Canada east to west coast. Love slide in campers see you on the slopes 2020, or at a deserted cove on the sea of Cortez, one of my favorites the San Juan's in Washington. Cheers

@evamaria644 4 жыл бұрын
All the things you mentioned I think are musts. Although, slide-in is supposed to be tight when not in use I like having the option. The ONLY reason I wouldn't buy a truck camper is there's not a large enough pass through. Most likely I wouldn't be anywhere I would need it but what if I had to stop somewhere because I'm really tired then I would have to go outside my truck to get to my camper. I have a fear of facing wild animals, snakes, alligators, or whatever. If I need to leave quickly I want to slip in that driver's seat and go.
@dhincks1
@dhincks1 4 жыл бұрын
@@evamaria644 Interesting, That hasn't been an issue....yet. The full size truck's window is just big enough most slide in campers aren't. The reason I went the way I did is, dual purpose with the truck & I like the 4 wheel drive I have. It's also a work vehicle. I've got my new used big foot 3000. Added 300 watts solar adding 2000 watt inverter. Actually have done a lot of upgrades to both the truck and camper. Cheers Duncan

i will keep a long story very short. oct 2018 paid 35k for a new lance camper. november 2018 torrential rain and my new lance camper sprung a LARGE LEAK in the bathroom vent. drove to the dealer and that one leak turned to 3 leaks. the dealer spent four hours resealing all the vents. one month later torrential rains again and one of the "fixed" leaks sprung and i mean 1 ounce of water on my floor every thirty minutes type of leak. two days later i dumped the new lance camper on the dealers shop floor and demanded my money back. he said he cant b/c thats not how it works. i then drove to heaquarters Lance (lancaster, california) and spoke to the ceo. i had a check for 35k in my hand two weeks later. i have heard MANY OTHER horror stories about ALL RV'S and not just lance. good riddence lance. i hope you have better luck and happy trails. ps. google lance sucks and read the horror stories but maybe true for artic wolf rvs too.
@TheBigdaddy9448
@TheBigdaddy9448 4 жыл бұрын
@@TimothyVincentStBarts-ls7ii Wow! Lance gave you your money back? That says a lot about them! What started out being a horror story turned into a happy ending. I have had two Lance campers. There customer service is above board. My latest Lance had a leak due to a cracked skylight. Lance replaced all of the skylights and vent covers. No more issues. There is no such thing as a Perfect RV. If you are not prepared to deal with issues with your RV, you may want to choose a different lifestyle. The fewer the issues the better, but there will always be some. It's the nature of the beast.

This is so wonderful. I have been looking at an 1181 forever (no longer made!), which I chose mainly because it has nearly wrap-around windows in the back. But no way could you haul an 1181 on an F-250! It's always just over the line for an F-350, unless it is one of the largest chassis cabs, especially if you want to carry some cargo (water, food, clothes) or another passenger or two, pushing you up to an F-450 chassis cab, which then needs an enclosure. Before I set my sights on an 1181, I was hoping for one very much like yours. It looks so sweet; a comfy and practical, and very mobile, moving home. I am happy for you, and you seem like a very nice young woman.
@DrHannahStraight

I would love wrap around windows in the back!
@Mcfirefly2
@Mcfirefly2 4 жыл бұрын
@@DrHannahStraight They aren't exactly wrap-around, but there are windows on all three sides of the kitchen and dining area. There's a big slide, and the whole thing's just heavy. So at least yours is not going to be so expensive a diesel or gas hog to move around! Much more manageable. I got tired of researching trucks, since everything I learned always seemed to be wrong, and the location of pickup vs chassis cab truck information always seemed to be changing, and multiply the confusion by all the different years. Then, I'd lose my online or paper notes about them, and have to start over. So lighter and simpler really does sound better to me.

Girl, this is exactly what I thought about doing, except I love the Host slide edition, however, I'm soooo glad I found another female who has done this. Do you mind sharing what kind of work you do when you're in orange county? The only reason I was considering a van is because of the stealthiness of them when visiting Los Angeles.

I've thought of this too, I'm still researching my options. This is a great video and Hannah nailed it, she's awesome. I've seen a few other females, younger and older, who are living very successfully in their truck campers. I'm inspired!

I've got too much invested in a traditional job and living situation to be able to jump ship. What kind of careers besides coding and maybe a virtual life coach support this lifestyle? Guess it's just a mindset choice to commit too.
