Van Morrison was Classic 70s, my high school era. What we really loved back then was that most of the great bands not only had guitar, bass guitar and drums BUT they had an entire Brass section: trumpet, trombone, saxophone and clarinet. We had local bands that were so good BECAUSE they would imitate bands like Van Morrison's with complete brass section. Another band with Great Brass from the 70s is Tower of Power (a Calif band) -- you should review them 👍

I have always loved this song. However, if you really want to hear the flute in rock, you're not going to find much better than Jethro Tull. Certainly other bands use the flute to some degree, and do so very well (Traffic, The Moody Blues, etc.), it is the chosen instrument of Jethro Tull's Leader/Songwriter/Singer Ian Anderson.

Another very much appreciated reaction, Chod! Van the Man was great and I believe Tupelo Honey, Wild Night and Domino should be next up for him, along with Gloria, which he did when he was with Them. It was so nice to hear you talk about the flute because several bands have incorporated the flute into their music including the Moody Blues and Marshall Tucker among many others. But the most amazing flute player you will ever hear/see is the legendary Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull! Start with Aqualung or Locomotive Breath and if you really want to appreciate the song check him out live! His studio cuts are excellent but their concerts were legendary! Back in the 70's would be best in terms of a performance to find. Enjoy!!
