You should do at least one song from Van Morrison's album Astral Weeks. Just pick any song from that album. Start with the first song on side A. You can't go wrong. Thanks for your show.

That was the first song of his I ever heard, back in 1971. It was just the beginning of a long road with Van as my companion, extending even into today and concerts of his that I STILL go to. He may be a bit slower, but all that soul he ever had - he draws the audience in and lightens their load for awhile in the amazement of the space this performer gets into.

I would say for a "Van Fan", I am on the rather young side (35 years old). But for most of my 20s I lived my life with Van Morrison running through my head. I would fall asleep to his greatest hits, and they would wake me up each morning. He is by far my favorite singer/songwriter to ever live. Although I love them all, my favorite song is "Summertime in England".

Mr. Morrison is a class act, offering precision and looseness in his delivery of letters and music, and the fact that the electric guitar amplifiers and perhaps electric keyboard are as modern as it gets, the rest are instruments that require an uber level of skill and mastery that gives a completely new dimension to the music he offers, an extremely dying bread, that reminds me of Billy Joel another musical craftsman seeing either master live will leave a permanent indelible mark in your soul, by the way, that is a very good thing, it offers a feeling that you are able to access any time you need to be grounded or simply feel a little better. You may want to give Into the mystic a try, you will not be disappointed.

I think he's reacted to most of that album, but it's definitely my favorite.

Another banger by Van the man. Try Jackie Wilson Said, Crazy Love, or Domino.

I adore Van Morrison! I have two favorite songs of his that I don’t typically see recommended. One is the title song from his album Wavelength. And the other is from the same album - Kingdom Hall. Both songs always get me singing along!

Man, so glad you found Van! I was wondering why you haven't reacted to Sweet Thing from Astral Weeks, yet? The lyrics and mood are just incredible. It's arguably one of his most covered songs. Really enjoy you're attitude and reactions. Peace

Van (George Ivan Morrison) is a Belfast Irishman and soul singer who once said "The Irish are The Blacks of Europe." and I think he's right. 800 years of oppression. Don't know if there are many Irish mourning the death of The Queen too heavily. Not that they dislike her as a human being, just that they are not too keen on the Monarchy in a historic sense.
