Vandal has a great backstory and the potential to be one of the most interesting villains in the DC Universe, but he’s usually portrayed as a generic tyrant. Regardless, considering how the DC Universe is home to several characters that live in specific time periods such as the Easy Company, the Blackhawk Squadron, and Jonah Hex, Vandal definitely has a lot of metaphorical flexibility as a character.

The most underrated and least used villain, also I believe anti-hero in all of DC comics. He has stood the test of time and his knowledge forgoes all of which, including Bruce Wayne. what would stand against him is just his megalomania that gets in the way of his objectives but I see Vandal Savage as being the Savior but first he has to play the Antichrist and I would love nothing more than to see that play out, it should have been him as the main villain in justice league dark apocalypse war instead it should have been called The Savage war. And in the end Savage would have had well and good intentions based in evil and mass genocide which would have threw the characters into a conundrum of deciding whether or not to defeat him in the short run in order to Doom the world in all galaxies in the long run. Vandal is a rare opportunity to accomplish many of viewpoints both political and also socially, while also exploring his hero/antihero/evil objectives only for it to end up in the end being the good of humankind. I truly hope we find a writer who can see the potential of Vandal Savage because if you ask me he is the most dangerous villain in all of DC because no matter what takes place he will survive and be around to be able to counter that type of attack and any other in the future. The most valuable power is experience and he has it in abundance!

Early young justice vandal is the best. So much planning for someone who lived so long. That's how he should be portrayed rather than getting beat all the time. Close second is justice league vandal savage who helped superman get back in time and ended the series himself thanking him as a friend. While savage is crazy in his beliefs. I think he has some credibility in wanting the earth to be able to defend itself against alien threats as you see how many come in to earth each week. I hope the end of young justice shows all the meta humans protect earth themselves showing the universe we aren't so weak

Unfortunately it seems that DC is plagued by uncreative writing and too many chefs. How could a 50K year old tyrant ever come to see the 'error of his ways' and be written into the role of an Anti-Hero? The changing of how people perceive comics and how sales must rule stories dooms all villains from "He's the most evil being ever conceived to......He's just misunderstood". Pardon me while I retch! The worst part is that when they have the opportunity to allow him to be evil.....the heroes fail to recognize his obvious weakness and play into his hands every time. (very bad writing). He's immortal, he's unstoppable, he's impossible to defeat! - unless you have a brain. 1 - He's had 50K years to hone his physical skills and strengths - Don't pit your measly 15 years of hand to hand combat against him. Use range attacks. 2 - He's had all that time to learn strategy - Always believe he has a plan, a plan within a plan and a contingency plan just in case things start to go sideways for him. 3 - He's immortal...Don't wimp out. Don't pull your punches, don't be concerned about killing him and don't turn your back on him when he's down. 4 - He's been around so long he's probably injected "Squeamishness, Chivalry, and Honor" into the human culture either as a joke or because he knew we'd fall for it. When you defeat him (because it is possible), freeze him solid, break his body into pieces with a wood chipper, dump the pieces into vulcanized rubber destined to be hockey pucks. That will keep the human race safe from him for at least another 10K years - but he will be back. So you can sleep at night peacefully content that you didn't 'kill him'! Your 'hero vow' is intact!
