I just made the list she mentioned at the end and it was unbelievably impactful for me. I teared up when I wrote down the self truths I harbored; it was a valuable moment of being brutally real with myself. This changed my life, because my perspective of who I am just changed. Thanks for motivating me to motivate myself!!!

I agree with the ten tips for the self-motivation... Most about the affirmations and I think we can achieve this with self-acceptance (Be - Do - Have :) ) Also, I think these tips work a lot for thirds' motivation as well (like class/workmates, relatives and friends) To understand more about motivations I suggest learning about gamification from the Octalysis Framework (author: Yu-Kai Chow). This Framework helps tons with the understanding of human behavior :) Thanks for your content, Vanessa.

Ok, and how do I do all that? I have to deal with depression, anxiety and a deep pit where I don't even know what I want from my life anymore. How do I fix that? Meds are barely helping :/
@rubyblu215 жыл бұрын
Work on the body first then on the outside stuff. Try exercise, yoga, meditation, eat clean, social media detox, sleeping well and friend detox for a month. The stimulation we're bombarded with these days makes us overwhelmed.

@@rubyblu21 No, not at all! Due to my state of mind, I've already cut social media drastically, and even the work I used to do, which was making me literally sick, I stopped completely. I totally understand that, you're fine, tyvm! ^_^

Hello Jean, I read your post. Been there and fought my out. I would like you to consider listening to Michele Lee Nieves on youtube. Her focus is on narssitic abuse, not that you suffered that, she is very good at helping you explore your inner person. Your question is right on. To do what Vanessa is asking us to do sometimes needs to be preceded by you allowing you to feel and articulate the pain. Then we can tackel the problem of " ok now how do get out of this dark place". Please remember I am not a Dr and the advice is free. I hope you find your way out. Best regards.

What if the self talk is both true and negative...how does one find evidence to the contrary?
@jenlotus175 жыл бұрын
Can change your focus which will change your thoughts. R.a.s. the rectcular activating system is basically our brains Google search. So what you want to think about or focus on will make your R.A.S. automatically filter your surroundings to pick up more evidence for you.
@JoyceEchessa5 жыл бұрын
You don't necessarily have to start by finding evidence to the contrary. You start by changing the belief and as the belief changes, you will be acting differently and producing the evidence that that belief is true and so this will be your new truth. Whatever you believe in is the truth for you. It might not necessarily be The Truth, but it's true for you because you believe it. So what you always have to start with is figuring out "what is it that I believe about myself" and deciding what you'd rather believe to start getting different results in your life, then working to change the old belief or working to adapt the new belief. There are different ways to change beliefs, you can do a google search (or read books) on it. Some common ones I've seen from different people are: using self talk and constantly affirming the new belief, starting to act as if you were someone who has this new belief (if I believed X about myself, what would I do in this situation? Then do it. Again and again, until you truly become the type of person that always acts like that. Even if you fail a lot, just keep trying and you'll get better), and visualization. I listen to Tom Bilyeu (of Impact Theory. You should check him out) and two things he constantly says that are relevant are that he believes that which empowers him and moves him closer to his goals (even if it might not be necessarily true) and when he is trying to change a behavior or trying to adopt a habit, he is constantly affirming the new belief with self talk. He is constantly telling himself "I'm the type of person that X" and he also backs it up with action-when a situation comes up where he would usually behave in the way that he is trying to change, because he has been constantly telling himself that he is the type of person that behaves in X way, he'll have an easier time holding himself accountable to behave in the new way, otherwise he has to call himself out for his BS. You do this enough times where you are constantly using self talk and trying as much as you can to behave in this new way, and you will eventually become the type of person that X and you will have the evidence that backs up this belief.
