Este es el comentario en español que estabas esperando. Eddie Van Halen se sentía algo frustrado y estancado con el último álbum editado en 1982, Diver Down, que más había sido un EP y no un álbum propiamente dicho ya que la mitad eran covers de otros artistas o bandas. Al construir su propio estudio de grabación, llamado 5150, graba un riff en un sintetizador Oberheim OB-Xa que desde el año 1981 rondaba por su mente con el objetivo de expandir un poco más el sonido de la banda y es cuando el productor Ted Templeman le muestra el demo a Roth quien compone la letra y melodía de la canción inspirada en una situación de intento de suicidio que vio en las noticias por esos días. De todas formas, la canción tiene un tinte positivo al instar a una persona a que debe superar sus problemas ya que todo mundo los ha tenido y la mayoría los puede superar. La canción y el álbum 1984 (de donde se desprende este sencillo), íconos de los 80s, influenciaron de manera sorprendente a otras bandas y fueron un parteaguas logrando que el Hard Rock se hiciera más “mainstream” o del gusto de todos aquellos que prefieren no tener en su gusto un solo género musical, a partir de acá toda banda de Rock o sus subgéneros tendría al menos un dejo de 1984 como influencia. Sin miedo Eddie Van Halen metió sintetizadores al estilo Hard Rock de la banda y el solo de guitarra es considerado por Eddie Van Halen como el mejor solo que ha compuesto y del cual está orgulloso. Como maldición o bendición bien disfrazada, David Lee Roth dejaría la banda para iniciar su carrera en solitario.
