Thank you, Peter! For the cabinet, I used a prefab bathroom cabinet because it was thinner than a normal cabinet and gave me more space. I didn’t put the back on and it fit over the wheel well perfectly. I attached it to van with L brackets and self tapping screws. I use a 500w jackery lithium battery for power and it charges when I am driving. I also have 100w portable solar panel for when I’m stationary for any length of time and need to charge it.

Amazing set up. I’m looking to make a sofa bed in my SUV. I don’t have the height you do. Can you tell me what the height of the sofa is from the floor to the seat. And the legs are those the 4” legs you used. I figured about 14”??. This is with legs and the cushions. Which would give me about 21” of headroom to sit on it. Ouch trying to figure out a build for Honda CRV. Great video
@LadyBugout3 жыл бұрын
Hello🖐🏻 The legs on the platform are 8” tall, so the bed is 8” from the floor and the mat, when it is folded into couch mode is probably 5” or 6”. So, seat is 13” to 14” above the floor. Hope that helps☺️

Aloha, Lady Bugout! Mahalo for so many hacks and tips you've provided. I need to replace my Coleman camp cot for a more rigid bed so that during the day it will serve as a couch. The cot is very comfortable to sleep on but rather unwieldy as a couch. It's too low, has no rigidity and rising from it I need to grab a handhold on the opposite van wall. Your bed set up gave me an idea how I want mine and that will include drawers underneath for gear storage. Presently I store gear in duffle bags shoved under the cot. It's not messy but my OCD needs satisfaction :) I love the convertible pillows, too, and will research the Voited website. Have a wonderful day!

Wow you’re 5’8” i thought you were small in stature to fit in that connect. Hi Dee, I enjoyed both videos & look forward to more. I checked out your links too. There are several items I’m interested in but I really need to use what I have first bc I’m giving up living in sticks&bricks for a while so no buying furniture or new blankets even tho they make pillows & have fleece which I love, love, love... so warm too. I’m actually going to buy a 24” chaise cushion from a local store & test it out on the floor of my minivan first. Your bed at 40” wide is too wide for my minivan which is no more than 48” wide BUT I found a few other floor chairs that make beds about 20-24” wide. I like the idea of the “convertible” bed so it’s a chair by day. I’m going to look at the GLOW live video now to hear some more good stuff from you. Safe travels, Mo in NJ

“This”, “thing” - you move so fast, I don’t know to what you are referring sometimes; “has a lip as you can see” - no, I can’t; “then it folds like this” - but you don’t show how the mattress folds into a sofa. You have so many clever solutions and your build is really awesome, but I would not be able to replicate what you have done by watching your videos. Move slower; give more closeups - slower ones; slower speech; more detail. What is the metal “thing” on the edge of the bed and how/why was it attached? What is the metal bar, where did you get it, why is it there, and how is it attached? Imagine that we are newbies and have never built anything. What is obvious to you is not always so, at least to me. I subscribed because your build is so good that I seriously want to duplicate it. Bravo! Just please slow down, more detail about process, and more closeups - and longer closeups.

I watched in 2x speed and I knew exactly what she was talking about the first time through, even in 2x she wasn’t too fast for me,…. You just have to pay attention; she explains what is where before she shows how it works.

Hi Lady. So glad that you are well. This van is looking a lot like what I’m aiming for including the bed and the toilet, and the shower is brilliant! Deb from Oz

Hello Dee.. I'm having great trouble finding your sleeping mat. I've looked on Amazon and ebay UK. Nothing comes up for papami. Tatami sleeping mats look nothing like yours. Please could you give more specific info on how to purchase one? I'd be very grateful. Thank you.
@LadyBugout2 жыл бұрын
There is a link for the mat in the description for Amazon. I call it a tatami because that is what I was looking for when I found the one I have. It does have more of a futon type filling than anything, but you are correct- it is not a true tatami mat. Here’s the link-amzn.to/2RwqlL4

Wonderful! You mentioned 2 gliders would be better than 1, would you please show close up photo of gliders? Or if they are a product, a link to it? Or did you make wood slides and cover with slick material? Thanks!

I just watched your video where you said you changed your bed. So I am a bit confused as to how it is now in Mid February?

I originally had my bed lengthwise-when I first had my van-before I started my channel.

Love the van! I am wondering about the backrest when it's in sofa mode? Are you just proping it up against the back door or what is happening there? 😊
@LadyBugout3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The mat has a clicking mechanism - one of the reasons I like it because I don’t need extra plywood to prop it up.

Companies should do these kind of small vans for singles. They would sell like hotcakes if sold under 20k euros!

Your bed is nice. However, it is not a tatami mat (tatami mats are straw mats used for flooring in Japan). What you have is a futon. A Japanese mattress meant to be placed on top of a tatami mat for sleeping. It is foldable. Japanese hang it from their balconies so they can get sun in the mornings and rhen bring it inside and put it away in a linen closet 😊. Love your build. Looks cozy.

Yes, I was searching for tatami when I found mine, that’s why I call it that. Mine is not a futon either. It’s comfortable though. That’s the point 😜
