Non-HVAC person here. I just enjoy watching HVAC people diagnose problems and try and follow you all. Most times I can't, but I try. Wishing you well as you deal with these many different problems. It's almost like the various murder mystery TV shows. I try and guess who killed who and with what. 🙂

I've bee in this field since 1980 and was a Carrier Bryant dealer. I will not sell inverter communicating systems no matter how much rebates or fake savings advertised. Whatever you save in electricity you will pay it all back and more in repair bills. Too much electronics, pricey inverter compressors, ECM condenser fan motors, too much bullshit for what little savings. Buy the way Great Video!

Make no mistake. That homeowner got screwed the minute they said yes to that garbage. It does not and has not ever required that much technology to heat and cool a home.. SHAME
@DonTgurdy14885 күн бұрын
Agreed! Inverter units are totally not worth it. The up front cost is higher, most of the parts are not universal, most technicians don't know how to diagnose them (and that's not their fault most of the time. The training for these is terrible), and once that 10 year warranty is gone, any repairs are going to cost big time.
@john70175 күн бұрын
I agree and will not sell that crap

@@john7017 I'd say the only time I would ever use an inverter system is a self installed mini split. They are Soo cheap that if they fail, you can just install another one

Wow! That's some expensive equipment I would rather for my house. Just have one that is either on or off. No inverters. No fancy stuff. Any energy efficiency saved would be consumed by repair bills by far

Not here in AU. Everything is inverter based. Direct Online stuff went away nearly 20 years ago. Nobody can afford to run old dinosaurs here.

I’ve been in the HVAC industry since the 80’s. My favorite furnace is the 80% two stage. With that said in the last five years I’ve only installed heat pumps with inverters. Once you master them they are awesome. The key is the installation and commissioning

What is the tall base this condenser is mounted on?

Use your recovery machine to pump the rest of the refrigerant in. You didn't show it.....but did you open the indoor EEV for vacuum or put it recovery mode.
@HVACR5596 күн бұрын
I's a Carrier riding on their name. They put a TXV on the air handler of this expensive beast, there not worried about cooling efficiency. The inverter and EEV are outdoors to maximize heating efficiency in heat in heat pump mode,
@YoJewFriend2 күн бұрын
At 15:04 you just showed us the problem and never noticed what it was. That’s a suction filter dryer. Should have pulled it out of the system. Might have been what killed your compressor.

Carrier customer service sucks. In the old days when everything was electromechanical that was okay, but now with all of the electronics customer service is essential. I had them tell me the same thing on the control screen of a VRF system. I get the replacement screen and they insist that is the right part. Customer plastered the hole in the wall where the old screen was, because the new screen went on an arm. Finally get a hold of them because it isn't working, they realised that screen needed another $900 module between the ODU and the screen make it work. 9 months later we were were installing the original screen that supposedly wasn't available. TXV indoors doesn't surprise me. I just installed a NEW R-410A Commercial RTU with a AccuRater's I thought fixed metering devices were behind us SMH. AccuRater's are planned obsolescence!

Been in HVAC/Boilers for a long time. So completely tired of the industry screwing my customers. Many have used standard single stage units in incredible homes and they are money ahead considering everything. They are sanity ahead of having systems last 20 to 30 years. The other customers were warned. (Infinity!!!) if any of you remember that carrier trainwreck. I warned customers to wait... most did, other lost $10,000 when all said and done with discounted new stuff. Still feel upset.
