Hydra also has connection to GIJoe. Back in the early 80's Hasbro wanted to do an action figure line called Fury Force with Nick Fury's son as the head of an elite counter-terrorist organization. Their main enemy would have been Hydra. Hasbro redesigned the line to bring back G.IJoe instead and decided to ditch Hydra as the main enemy. Still liking the snake motif, someone in Hasbro decided to call it Cobra instead.

Keep in mind that Hydra is a Marvel thing. As in Marvel Comics. Hydra is the secret society bent on human domination in every Marvel incarnation, ever. Give it all to Marvel Comics, Hydra would probably predate human civilization and force its creation in defiance to its tyranny. Marvel Comics has even hinted at Hydra having roots before the Catholic Church... the organization that actually created the Templars, historically speaking. So, in fictional history rewriting, Hydra wins because it goes back in time far more easily and far more often than the Assassin's Creed Templar's.

I actually really enjoyed Secret Empire. I thought them bringing back Hulk just for him to die again was a bit silly, but other than that, I liked it. It had some great moments in it. Hydra Cap even had Mjolnir re-written, which is why Hydra Cap could pick it up. As Captain America is my favorite super hero of all time (and I'm a Canadian, go figure) I liked the story a lot.

I think I was the only one in my comic group that liked the hydra captain America story line. I saw it as a brilliant look into how one little change can turn a good character evil. I remember laughing out loud when I saw end game. My husband looked at me all confused and whispered (he doesn't like marvel but goes to the movies with me because he know I love marvel) wait when did that happen. I quickly explained it was a nod to a comic. He then asked if I had it on my kindle (I do) and if he could read it (he did and he liked it) Hydra has always been a great villain and I hope the mcu brings them back at some point
