I saw these bones on an “Uficio Scavi” tour in about 2012, I believe. And when he says “Peter is here,” this is from a Greek Inscription they found on a piece of stone that marked St. Peter’s grave. The four large pieces of marble that were installed by the Emperor Constantine that surrounded the actual grave also remain there.

instead they found Simon Bar-Jonahs ossuary in a Christian grave on the Mount of Olives in 1953. Next to a Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Jewish men and women would not have been buried a pagan way nor would he go to Rome when Christ returns to Jerusalem first stepping on the Mount of Olives where Peter's and others remains are and will be resurrected to join Jesus entering the city.

Read the book the fisherman's tomb by John O'Neill. It explains everything. The scientific data, forensic & archeological evidence that prove with a high degree of certainty that these are Peter's bones. The ancient inscriptions on the hidden graffiti wall showed that early Christians prayed to Christ & invoked the aid of Mary, Peter & other saints. These early Christians were willing to risk their lives to create the inscriptions that expressed these beliefs. The Fisherman's Tomb is a book worth reading.

Rick Ricky Peter, an Israelite, took refuge in Rome during the during the Jewish-Roman war, and died there, even though the Temple was still standing in Jerusalem. Keep in mind that the video says Peter died in 64AD, but the Temple wasn’t destroyed until 70AD by the Roman General, Titus. Peter was not even a citizen of Rome, which means he couldn’t have been the first Pope.

@@gracielong3566 how is it not honouring Peter or Jesus? Was Peter not part of the Church of Christ? There are two types of reverence and one which belongs to God alone. God instructed Moses to erect a bronze serpent so that whoever looked upon it would be healed from their snake bites (Num. 21:8-9). Such reverence was appropriate. But when the Israelites started showing the bronze serpent a reverence that belonged to God alone-namely, worship-King Hezekiah destroyed it with divine sanction (2 Kgs. 18:4).

So if God sanctioned the destruction of an object people were worshipping instead of him, why would he want you to venerate Peter in any way? That is giving glory to another and forbidden... Jesus told that woman who raised the question of the importance of a place to worship that the time has come when we shall not worship him either on this mountain or in Jerusalem but in Spirit and in truth. Peter had a wife as Jesus healed his mother-in-law in the Gospel accounts which goes against the current theology of "popes" being celibate and not able to marry. You can't have a mother-in-law if you're celibate, and even Jesus Himself witnessed that. It doesn't add up.

@youtubecommenter2 Жыл бұрын
@@scented-leafpelargonium3366 You are entitled to your own opinion, you may think that the priestly celibacy should be abolished. However, if you believe in the Bible, it's also worth noting that, even though human relationships are not wrong, neither is celibacy. Saint Paul himself writes in 1 Corinthinas 7:38 "Therefore, the one who marries the unmarried woman does right, and the one who doesn’t get married will do even better."
@scented-leafpelargonium3366 Жыл бұрын
@@youtubecommenter2 I did not say it was wrong, only if one chooses celibacy they should not expect it of other people or force that view on others as the papacy does to young priests. I have been celibate for most of my life, but found it a very unhappy lonely condition to be in. I know Paul's position on it as he advocated marriage if you could not control lust. I find that to push celibacy as a recommendation on others, espcially those who are much younger and naturally more virile, celibacy will only compond the lust and encapsulate it making it more frustrating. Thus Paul recommends marriage as opposed to not being able to be celibate. I don't think celibacy should be a requirement for serving in the Church, as many scandals have resulted from this impostion. Even Peter, the first pope, had a mother-in-law whom Jesus healed, so the first pope was not as disciplined as the present one, as he must have had a wife. 🙃
@janetwray72772 жыл бұрын
It is not the Pope's job to be more friendly and flexible, but to uphold the word of God. He should be reminding the world of God's holiness, and exhort us to understand that our 'goodness' has nothing to do with our salvation. We must hear and believe the gospel, turn from our sin, and put our complete trust in the completed work of Jesus the Messiah, the Annointed One, who died and rose to save us and to give us eternal life, if we only believe in Him.

@laurants5 жыл бұрын
JDvorak2009 [long post alert!] the Catholic Church created the Bible as we know it today. All non Catholic Christian denominations broke away from the Catholic Church at it’s beginning therefore opening the door to all sorts of subjective interpretations of the Bible. This is separate from the different translations which is necessary to deposit the faith in different languages around the world. The tens of thousands of denominations has lead to the printing of a Bible without certain books. You make one exception, but then others follow. The Catholic Church isn’t perfect because humans are involved, but it is One (unified), Holy (has the sacraments), Catholic (universal), and Apostolic (authority from the Apostles who received their authority from Christ). Your local Good Book Bible Fellowship doesn’t have that, so instead they pick up a Bible and hope for the best that people like what they say and how they say it. That’s a lot of stress to have everything hanging on a good or bad sermon. In your local Catholic parish you may hear a bad homily and not like the priest but the scripture and the Eucharist is still there. And by the way check out the Ignatius Catholic Study Bibles. God Bless and I apologize if this was TLDR.

Only then was it called the Roman Catholic Church, a word which does NOT appear in God's Word the Bible.

When you say Roman Catholic, it means that the headquarters of Catholicism is in Rome. It doesn't mean Jesus is from Rome. As distinguished from Orthodox Christians also because Orthodox headquaters is from I think Constantinople or Byzantium in Turkey. Constantine liberalized faith in the empire by not persecuting the early Christians ( Catholics) because he was tasked by God to get the Holy Grail from Ottoman Turks (Muslims). So, Constantine was used by God, that was why he defended Christianity.. So, that was the reason that Catholicism ( Christianity) spreaded. Catholic word was came from St. Ignatius, a priest from Antioch who called the religion Catholic ( Universal) since those who will receive the good news of salvation is for everybody not for Jews only. The early followers of Christ ( Catholic) were first called Christians in Antioch. So, the religion of Jesus is Universal (Catholic) Church and his followers, Christians. Constantine and his mother, Helena was honored by Catholics in the month of May by having a procession called Santacruzan. In May also was held the Catechism of small children where they were taught about Catholicism or about God and Mary was honored by showering her with flowers.

Peter did die in Rome, but the place is unknown. With thousands dying every day, they received a makeshift burial at best if they were non-Roman citizens, like Peter. Cremation was also popular (cheap). On the other hand Peter did enjoy wide recognition among the first Christians as someone who actually saw Christ, so there's an outlying chance that upon his death, they tracked down the body and marked the burial site.

@@berean65no, Peter was executed by crucifixion, however he ordered to be crucified upside down as he felt unworthy to die as the same manner of Jesus. He was killed under the rule of emperor Nero as He blamed the Christians for the great fire that occured in rome that lasted for 6 days and burned two thirds of rome and blamed it on the Christians and Paul as the leader and instigator, and yes both Paul and Peter died under emperor Nero. It is believed that Paul and Peter died in the same day. Peter by Crucifixion (upside down) and Paul through Beheading. It was the apostle John son of Zebedee brother of James who died of old age, He was exiled in the island of Patmos when the romans failed to killed him and and in Patmos He wrote the final book of Revelation. There is no in between ...so which one is it?
@gracielong35665 жыл бұрын
@@savedbygodsgrace.9058 I agree with your line of questioning here. The work of the reformers is not to make up stories about the catholics.... We do not have to do that because a close look at their doctrines belies the claims they all make. They do not believe in the assurance of salvation... that is why they believe in purgatory. Jesus was not a whimp playing the "woe is me" card... and the disciples did not either. Yet, from the church who claims to be holy, we hear unholy whining about being persecuted. I do not hate the catholics. I hate that they are being lied to and just will not learn to question their leadership... they won't really read the Word for themselves because the church has told them they are not smart enough to understand it. Those who truly have Christ would listen to us. They do not want any part of it. If they were to die right now, it is doubtful any one of them would be confident in their salvation.... That is sad. God bless for trying to break down that wall though; it is a thick one.

Simon Peter the Apostle was the Apostle to the Circumcision (Jews), NOT to the Uncircumcision (Gentiles). The Apostle Paul brought the Gospel to Rome, NOT Simon Peter. Simon Peter never ever went to Rome. Simon Peter did not die in Rome. Simon Peter was not crucified upside down in Rome. Simon Peter the Apostle was not buried in Rome. But Simon Magus did all of the above. Remember, Simon Magus was the one who in Acts chapter 8 begged Simon Peter to buy an Apostleship from him, hoping with it to receive also the power to impart the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands like the Apostles did. Simon Magus was a sorcerer and used sorcery to make a name for himself and a great following. He wished to add to this power of sorcery the power of the Apostles. Simon Peter rebuked him sternly saying, "Your money parish with you!" Dejected, Simon Magus went on deceiving multitudes with his sorceries and finally wound up in Rome where he was eventually crucified upside down and was buried in a cemetary on Vatican Hill. The bones in that box in Jorge Bergoglio's hands are absolutely NOT those of Simon Peter the Apostle, but most likely are those of Simon the Sorcerer. Further, Simon Magus (the sorcerer) is the man from whom we get the word, Simony. Simony is the word given to describe the buying and selling of ecclesiastical merchandise, such as buying one's way to heaven and such. Simony is committed when the Pope sells forgiveness of sin for money (indulgences). Simony is committed when one aspires to become a bishop or a pope and buys that office with money. That is called, Simony. Simony literally defines the Roman Catholic Church. It is more than fitting that the Roman Catholic Church has been called, "The Church of Simony" for a thousand years. Not only is it the Church of Simony, it is the Church of Antichrist.
