It's so cool to see how much Etho is getting into the modpack. I always knew he would, it's the perfect kind of game for him. He's a CTM veteran, a modded MC guru, and he's always talked about how much he loves Roguelike games. I'm glad he's taking a "play for fun" approach, too. Being able to just play and enjoy it without having to worry about content creation has got to feel so liberating. His content with Iskall across all the HermitCraft-adjacent stuff is some of my favorite. I would love to see Etho join the VHSMP next season, although I know that's asking a lot.

Etho is like "Oh iskall, if I'm to high level you won't be able to carry me anymore on those scavs." Iskall, you need to reassure him that you can carry him even as lower level.

The idea of ninjas wearing all black actually comes from how they were depicted in plays. In plays the people who moved the props and such were always dressed in all black and for the most part ignored so to make it seem like the ninjas assassination came from no where the ninja would wear the same costume. Ninja in real life were for the most part dressed as common citizens.

That conversation at the start was so helpful for me ahaha, I just started playing Vault Hunters and have been eating burgers to save room in my chests. I've levelled up WAY too fast (but still having an absolute ball, I swear time works differently when playing Vault Hunters).

Chests? You’re already doing it wrong. Unlock storage mods right after a vault compass.

Hey Iskall, I hope you are having a great holiday so far. Earlier this year I purchased a new gaming laptop with the following specs: Win11 AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/Radeon 780M Graphics (integrated) NVidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU (8GB) 16 GB SO-DDR5 Ram. Basically, this computer should be more than capable of running Vault Hunters. Bare in mind, I had to purchase a laptop because I need to be portable. However, whenever I am about to enter a vault or enter other portals such as a non-rendered nether dimension, the game freezes completely with CPU peaking to about 100% (with OpenJDK platform using about 97% of it). I have set both minecraft and OpenJDK to use my dedicated GPU over my integrated. Yet, I keep having spikes which unfortunately crashes the game. Note that I have lowered the rendering seetings (distance) to a minimum. Do you have any hints on what may or may not cause my spikes, and what I should do to prevent them from occuring? Because I really want to play your pack! The thing I have not tried yet is setting the mipmap level to 0, but would that fix my problem- or do I need more RAM? Best regards Cargo

You should set your mipmap to 0 either way, but there is abbig chance that will fix your problem

I really don’t like any of the changes that were discussed. And I agree w/ those on Reddit that the game is RNG hell. Most of us don’t play professionally and don’t want to grind away for little progress. You’re still completely reliant on RNG and it can put you in a bad place easily. It would be nice if there was a mode where you could build everything and not rely on RNG. Make the costs high. But it would be nice to be able to tailor your gear exactly how you want it. It would not take away from the “game” for most people.

The mining speed needed to instamine vault ores is 51.25.

From what I have heard, dark blue was the more proper ninja color. Blended in better than pure black. Also, about frame rate. A lot of games use frame rate to count things, forcing a game to run at a higher frame rate can throw off things like movement. Notably, Dark Souls 1, jump distance is further on fewer frames due to the distance traveled being dependent on how many frames pass.

Trap disarm nerf from trapped change sounds horrible for existing tools that are full on capacity. It's not like people can swap out the rarity/quantity jewels on their prismatics for more trap disarm :(

i gotta say etho has being a ninja all wrong. you need a hard hat, a high vis vest, a white van, and some traffic cones, or maybe a clip board. cause being a ninja isnt about not being seen. it's about not being noticed. think about it, how many times have you really taken notice of the ppl doing road work, or doing safety inspections on something. sure you see them, but nothing about them triggers suspicion. their was a show about an actual ninja who had to get into a high security office building. and he did so by looking like some janitorial staff, and made it all the way to the server room.

Wait, so when you talked about to changes to trap disarm does that me that you need to have 100% trap disarm as a base AND you need to have additional trap disarm for additional negative modifiers you get? Or do you just need 5% trap disarm to cover the base 5% you normally have in vaults and then some more to cover what you get from additional negative modifier? Because either way, just like you say at 41:16 "that's cringe".

@Iskall it would be great if there was a way to sort the jewels automatically. Could you put some of the jewel data as nbt?

If you have the jewels in a searchable storage system, like Refined Storage, you can search properties by using the hashtag. For example, if you want to find all jewels that have copious, you could type in #copiously (or even just part of it) and it will filter down to just those. It does have a kind of native sorting system baked in with the searching, so things like that where the value is percentage based will be sorted by the percentage, which makes it somewhat easier to look through. It also groups together the jewels by type, so the Chipped will all be together, then the Flawed, etc.

Some of the data is already there. You can sort between the rarities, the modifiers, and if there are any legendary rolls with the existing NBT. The only thing missing is the size and actual values which you can get an optional mod to add create filters for.
