Lovely to see you both again. The first Quicksilver album is for me, the best of that west coast acid sound. The mind boggles on how they could fit a walkway into a pub. I picked up that Niney 7" as well. Great stuff. So many recommendations to explore as always. Hope you are both having a lovely summer in the baking south east. The chicken at the beginning was very brave - we've all seen the elephant on Blue Peter. All the very best to you. Cheers, Steve.

Hello ! I’m so glad to see you both back on KZbin. Great format beside the two radio shows. Pleased to see Bruce Hornsby we never see in the VC. I found yesterday a Lyle Mays solo album that reminds me his way to play piano. I don’t know if it’s the style of an era or one inspiring the other… I never had the chance to buy a live album from Isaac Hayes. Great recommandation. Kent is beautiful John : more videos please. Take care. Bruno

This is definitely the first in studio live chicken to make an appearance in a VC video. So great to see you guys back. I will come back myself and do a fine recap after the video is over. First I wanted to say hello on this Monday morning. Have a great day. Catch up with you later on~ Rob/Boston

So great to see you guys back at it. I hope the videos start coming more regularly again! I ordered the Aftab and the Gendel and Wilkes albums after hearing some samples. Both albums just sound like something that will sooth the soul - something I need right about now. Keep up the great work guys - always enjoy your videos. Bill

Great selections! Nice to see some Fuze & Mononeon.. they work so well together. Love that Sharon Redd track, such a classic song.

Cheers Ed - the Mononeon/Christian McBride interview is a revelation - you can see the links between Mono and Fuze so clearly now...

@@drrhythmn I must watch that Interview. I remember Neon had an alter ego “Microneon” early on playing mictrotonally like Fuze. Weirdly I noticed that Christian McBride was Music Director & bassist for Billie Eilish recently.

Was that White Heat album a blind buy? I got to know. Are there disco elements throughout the album? You both showed so many cool listens. Thanks for sharing them all Mark and John. You guys are VC treasures~
@drrhythmn2 жыл бұрын
A blind buy in as much as I had never heard of it - but the record shop had a deck so I could spin it - and I could see Barry White had produced. It's more Whitfield psych soul than disco - with a Barry White crispness of production

The best dressed chicken in town? One of my favorite poets, Mark Strand wrote the line, '' if chickens wore clothes, we would not eat them''. Chaka would agree. Bruce Hornsby's '' Big Swing Face'' album shocked me into submission. Love the Johnny Dyani connection, his album ''Angolian Cry'' is an all-time fave. John Cippolina was fantastic, I have the live one with Man too. White Heat sounds neat. Caution: there may be more than two Gloria Jones. Milt Jackson's ''People Make The World Go Round'' from ''Sunflower'' is top- notch stuff, especially Herbie Hancock's keyboards. I never knew about that Hump single, must be worthy of reissue, George could use the money and so could Sly. Issac Hayes is the black Moses, for sure. I love the Grateful Dead's live version of ''Dear Prudence''. Eat more cheese !!
@drrhythmn2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes Maximum Darkness! I need to get hold of another copy - my original was stolen. I love the Milt version of People Make the World Go Round too - the Stylistics original coda is one of the most sublime bits of music ever recorded in my opinion. I will look our the Dead's version of Dear Prudence too - cheers Mark
@omniversal72 жыл бұрын
HI Michael. Love the way that the Dead worked Dear Prudence into their improvs. Jerry clearly loved the song. The only time I saw the Jerry Garcia Band he started the second set with a great version. Bruce H is such an interesting musician. A friend saw his trio with Christian McBride and Jack DeJohnette and said that they were brilliant. (Eating cheese right now...)
@michaelvalentini48692 жыл бұрын
@@omniversal7 John, it's too hot here in Rhode Island, everything is melting, even my cheese. Gloria Jones( the other one), sang in the Jerry Garcia Band. Yes, I've been listening to a lot of Hornsby lately, even his early stuff is nice.
