8 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 Medium Onion
3 Medium Tomato
1 Carrot
1/2 Green Pepper
2 Tbsp Garlic Ginger Paste
2 Tbsp Tomato Puree
Spice & Seasoning:
1.5 tsp Salt
1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Coriander Powder
1 Tsp Cumin Powder
1/2 Tsp Chilli Powder
1/2 Tsp Garam Massala

Hey Latif - I'm a Brit expat living in Canada for the past 40+ years. The whole BIR thing was unknown to me until I started viewing Indian cooking videos on You tube. It is interesting to see the small differences between BIR recipes compared to N. American recipes. Very similar though and delicious either way. Thanks for your content.

Yh me mothers a vegan i grew up with it and veggie food nothing wrong with that food when its done right I tell ya...key too it is homemade always, the wraps and stuffed pitta breads stir frys n chillis you name it..soak the old tofu in spices n sauces then dehydrate it a bit get the the water out give it some texture.nothing wrong with a good soup either is there with crusty bread...do it all homemade.. I prefer the vegan meals sometimes just seems more flavour fresher but it's lighter too eat aswell but still fills you up if that makes sense...I would be fine with vegan if I had too lol...a good one if you've not seen is the fake housin shredded duck it's frozen think in tescos..then just cook with a few spring onions n bean sprouts n bit carrot n salad and whack in a wrap with extra housin sauce...theres one for ya mate lol

I have your other base gravies and ginger garlic mixtures in my freezer. Make them once a month and the tomato puré once a week. Saves so much time with perfect curries every single time!! One does have the time. I put a timer on and watch tv. Mix once in a while. Thanks chef!!!

I’ve been making base gravy for years, all different recipes, I made this one in my soup maker, no mess and fantastic base gravy, super smooth and done in less than half an hour

As an ex-pat Brit living in the US, I typically cook longer authentic dishes but this is a brilliant and simple recipe and reminded me of home, so now I've got 4 large containers of it in the freezer. The biggest compliment came from my American wife after dinner yesterday, saying how flavourful dinner was. Love the channel and you need to set up a patreon!

Just made this and it has turned out fantastic, only thing is I used the list of ingredients but you didn't put the 2 tsp of general curry on the list so I didn't put any in but it still tastes superb and will be using it in one of your recipes tonight, thanks and congrats on the 250k well deserved.

Cooked this using a soup maker the other day, tasted fantastic. Just did it up to the point veg are about to be added then threw it all in the soup maker, topped up with boiling water, set to smooth and 20 mins later it's done. Came out very liquid with the half batch of ingredients I was using but you can put it on the hob for a few mins at a high heat to reduce if you want it a little thicker. Strongly recommend the mushroom madras made using this btw, was great.

Well that is all so good I could taste it just watching it develop. But it's really only curried vegetable soup using a blender and fresh veg. It makes a great base sauce but a Vegan who doesn't like curry or spicy or hot chilli food wouldn't like it at all. Still it's a good standby and a great hot soup to have on a cold winter's day!

I've made both of the other base gravy recipes before, both were great, but this looks fantastic rather than making a huge batch. Based on the 250k, have you considered accepting a curry recipe from a subscriber that you could have as a special on your menu for a week? I'm sure we have all learnt loads and now have the confidence to experiment a bit based on what we have all learned from you.

Absolutely brilliant base gravy and so simple. Followed the recent butter chicken recipe with only a few adjustments as didn't have tomatoes and kashmiri chilli powder but used tinned chopped tomatoes and mix of smoked paprika and cayenne pepper mixed to replicate as best as possible the kashmiri and went down like a bomb at home! Told I could bottle it by the wife and she likes mild curry. Told her it was your inspiration. Love the channel and hope you get another 250k followers!

I've been making your last base gravy, without the cream and just using vegetable oil. I make it overnight in a slow cooker on low. I always add celery to the mix as well

Big fan of the channel and thanks for this simplified BG recipe. When I am short on prep time for our BIR inspired family or friends curry nights. I often use a fresh soup, just watered down and hand blended fresh soup as my BG. I use a waitrose Glorious! Indian sweet potato and coconut dall soup. It says online it is an Indian inspired sweet potato soup, combining creamy coconut, yellow split peas, mung beans and traditional spices. Imo. It makes a great quick BG. Cheers.
