I did it!!!! I think I needed to squeeze more water out before I let it rest like you said, because it was more moist than I wanted - but it still tasted so good!!! And shredded up and pan-fried could hardly tell the difference - THANK YOU SO MUCH! These videos impress me more with each you make! You make WTF method seem so much less intimidating for so much better results, very inspiring. By all means throw an ad on these videos, you deserve it! I notice your audio mixing has a sort of "boomy" quality, there might be an easy way to adjust the levels in editing software to make your voiceover smoother to listen to. In any case please keep making these!!!! Every video is a hit!!

I love watching your videos! Do you ever cook with vital wheat gluten to make seitan? Do you prefer the traditional washed flour method?
@yessicainfante8313 жыл бұрын
I actually started off using VWG. I do prefer the taste and texture of the washed flour method a whole lot better. My sticky rib recipe calls for VWG.

Did you cover it when you steamed them?
@yessicainfante8313 жыл бұрын
I did cover it on my first attempt when steaming it to create the patty shape. I actually preferred the frying technique best. I did not cover it when I simmered it.

I can't get mine to have the separate strands or fibers like meat. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I am not getting all the water out? Thank you for all of your videos. Liked and subbed.
@yessicainfante8313 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I obtain the shreds by knotting the dough. Having dough that is to wet might be a problem, I recommend taking your time when squeezing out the water.

I wonder if you could use the excess water/starch to water plants with?

Why I’m never able to achieve your texture of the dough. I feel like I wash it too much, but I tried to wash it a bit less and it turned out disgusting. I’m vegan since 2016 and still learning 😭

It takes practice. I would say, the most important part to achieve the shreds besides the washing part is resting it and knotting it.

The last washing doesn't have nearly as much starch in it as the first two, so isn't harmful to the drains.
