LEARN HOW TO MAKE AN EASY CHINESE FRIED RICE RECIPE AT HOME!
LAY HO MA!! This is definitely one of my favourites and one of the recipes I go to almost every week. The beauty is that "Chow Fan" literally translates to stir fried rice, so what you decide to put in it is up to your imagination - especially when you have random veggies left in your fridge by the end of the week! Join me in this episode and learn how to make a delicious Chinese fried rice recipe right at home. Let's begin
Ingredients:
1/4 cup chickpeas
2 pieces garlic
1/2 red onion
1 stick green onion
1/4 cup carrot (diced)
1/2 cup broccolini (chopped)
2 large cremini mushrooms
2 tbsp chili oil ( • Most addictive Red Chi... )
1/4 cup corn
1 1/2 cups overnight rice
2 tbsp soy sauce
Directions:
1. Use a fork to roughly crush the chickpeas
2. Roughly chop the garlic, dice the red onion, chop the green onion, dice some carrot, chop the broccolini, and slice the mushrooms
3. Heat up a non stick pan to medium heat. Add the chili oil
4. Add the garlic, red onions, green onions, and chickpeas. Sauté for about a minute
5. Add the carrot, broccolini, and mushroom. Sauté for another minute
6. Add the corn and rice followed by the soy sauce
7. Sauté for another few minutes and you're done!

I made this tonight with a couple changes - used store bought chili oil, and a frozen peas corn and carrot mix for the veg - and it was SO GOOD! I've never had spicy fried rice before but it was absolutely glorious, can't wait to have the leftovers for tomorrow night's dinner! ☺️

Wil is so right, this is a dish that you can make differently every time. It is rare that I think my own cooking is better than the Chinese takeaway down the street, but for vegetable fried rice, I can say that is true "with confidence"!

I made this last week along with your (also delicious but way too spicy for me) Mapo Tofu and WOW. I had actually never made fried rice before but your recipes are so easy to follow and my boyfriend and I both loved it. I’m making this again tonight along with some teriyaki tofu and your peanut butter noodles (a feast) I’m sure it will be amazing. I went to an Asian supermarket yesterday and bought all the ingredients you normally use (Szechuan peppers, dried tofu sticks, tamarind paste etc) and am so excited to make more of your recipes with confidence. Sorry for the long comment but I am SO happy to have found a channel where I recreate the recipes and they’re actually good. Anyone reading this: don’t hesitate to try the recipes. Absolutely amazingly delicious!!!! And so quick n easy!!! Since we didnt have a few of the chilli oil ingredients, we improvised by frying star anise and bay leaves from chilli oil recipe, for about 30seconds in coconut oil.... then add garlic, onion, spring onion and chickpeas for a couple mins.... Then our veges for a couple mins... Then baby corn, overnight rice, soy sauce and added sesame seeds (chilli oil recipe) at this point as we forgot to at start, for another couple mins...Then BAM, done! Whole recipe took about 30min to cook! SO GOOD!

I've been vegetarian for almost 5 years now. Since I started, I've been experimenting non-stop to try and figure out how to make veggie fried rice. I can never quite get the taste just right. It always seemed to be missing just one little thing. Each and every time I felt it was something different. I can't explain how appreciative I am of this video! Every other "vegetarian" recipe includes eggs and/or fish/oyster sauce, but I don't eat those either. Now, I can finally cook the perfect fried rice every single time! Thank You!!

Vegetarians eat eggs and milk, so that's okay to include. If you don't eat animal products at all you're a vegan, not vegetarian.

Made this the other night and was awesome! Definitely will make again, easy, fresh ingredients and so good! My daughter made it at her house and turned out great also. I used sesame oil instead of the chili oil, wasn’t sure if it would be too spicy but would like to make that oil.

Will, this is great! I was going to make fried rice with some left over rice and this video popped up. Also, I made the chili oil a couple of weeks ago for the Mapo tofu and since then you’ve had a few recipes that include the chili oil. By the way, the Mapo tofu turned out great! I came across your channel today and was absolutely blown away with your recipe...made it today and it was wonderfully tasty and simple to prepare! Thank you so very much for the very best fried rice recipe that only takes around 15 to 20 mins..I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be making it a lot. I'll be having it tomorrow also. I wish I could eat chilies but I have a very sensitive mouth - I used coconut amegas and balsamic coconut vinegar as my flavouring. I don't use oil, I saute with small amounts of water. Just another comment about what you did with the chickpeas...GENIUS IDEA. Love and gentleness from a Scottish girl living in England. x

Wil, thx for this great primer on fried rice. We generally make our version (we’ll upgrade to yours now!) the night after we have black beans and rice. We use the day old rice of course. The chick pea addition is a fabulous idea for added protein! 🤗

Just finished making this. The crushed chickpeas adds body to the dish while the chili oil makes this explode with flavor. Its a filling and very delicious. Totally changes the way I look at fried rice now.

Should you refrigerate the rice over night? What is the best type of white rice to use i.e long grain, basamati, jasmine ? Can you use brown rice instead? Thank you.

Jasmine rice is usually used in Chinese fried rice and sushi rice is usually used in Japanese fried rice. But honestly any type of cooked and refrigerated rice is good!

you cook the rice the day before, then you leave it in the fridge overnight. By leaving the rice overnight there is less moisture in it, this makes the rice crispier.

Another great recipe, quick and simple. Hubby can’t handle the heat, so next time I will use 1 tbsp chili oil and 1 tbsp grapeseed oil. Personally, I love the extra kick. I’ll just pour a little after it’s cooked on my plate. Thanks again.
