Awesome review! I am the owner of a 2014 Range Rover Sport with the Supercharged V6. Bought it used when it has 76,000 kilometers from a Land Rover dealership. Got the CPO warranty which ended on January 2021. Yep, 7 years factory warranty. It has now over 140,000 kilometers, it’s driven in Canada with extreme cold in the winter, pretty intense heat in the summer. Always serviced at JLR, following the manufacturer’s recommended schedule maintenance. Issues: only 1 camera of the 5 onboard cameras died and the oxygen sensor had to be replaced. I am so pleased with my RRS. It’s a keeper. Thank you again for taking the time to make this review. All the best!

Thanks for the very helpful review. You've nudged me that much closer to buying one as an upsize vehicle for a young family. PS: I had an Evoque before, with the 177kW 2.0L turbo Ford engine. Thirsty, but hands down the best vehicle I've owned to date. (Just too small for two toddlers though.) Thanks again, and happy adventuring.

Thank you so much for this informative video. I have a 2017 discovery sport that I bought used in 2018 with 8500 miles on it. I don’t drive it much out of town so now it only has 32,000 miles. My warranty just ended the beginning of this year so of course, I’m now having the little things start happening like the battery had to be replaced and I didn’t wait it out, 5 years is acceptable and I didn’t want it to mess with my alternator, which is still in great condition but now my check engine light is on so I took it to my local auto zone and they ran the little test which told me I need a tuneup. Oops, I guess it’s time for my first one. I haven’t needed breaks yet and I heard you said 1500 dollars, ouch 😰. All and all, I can’t complain, this car has been a blessing even without all the bells and whistles, mine is the base base model, no heated seats or steering wheel but I do love my in control app❤️

Yeah, your review was great and informative, and even funny when you fell on the snow. I do like and admire land rover, I know a lot of people complain about them, but I still hold my hopes by when I get one on my own. I saw one like yours 2018 for selling from a dealership. I am trying to come up with a plan so that I can buy it. But as you said they are expensive vehicles yet so good looking. I wish one day I have the car of my dream, a car I have been wanting since I was a child. Best of luck with your handsome Discovery

Great review! My Disco Sport SE Tech is over eight years old now - I've owned it for the last three (UK spec, 2.2 diesel, pre-Ingenium). I was originally planning to trade in at this point now my loan is paid off. But I just love it too much! So I've just forked out for some long term maintenance - New tyres, Haldex service, transmission & diff fluids etc. so I plan on keeping for a few more years yet. I've looked at plenty of other cars, but just kept coming back to the Disco Sport. I did consider an L494 Range Rover Sport or a Disco 4, but they're just too big for me. Problems over the three years? The aircon needs a regas and I needed a replacement windscreen after a stone chip. That's it.

Great video, very informative and a wealth of information that is coming from true use, rather than from a friend of a friend said . I just purchased a 2019 HSE LUX with 47k so now I know to look into the transmission fluid at 50k and I did receive the battery warning initially,but the car had been sitting at the dealer for a few weeks. Since I have driven it the battery message has not shown itself again, but good to know that I should have one to two years left before replacing that. Thanks again.

Great video. I love my 2016. I loved my 2007 Disco 3 but it eats brakes and bushing and other certain parts. My only "disagreement" is that some LR stuff in the past has been ridiculously bad with regard to reliability. D1 & D2 sunroofs, head issues on the BMW motors (pre 06). Weird electrical anomalies (3 amigo's). I read that 12 months after Ford bought LR in 05 that warranty returns went down by 60%. That's significant. That said, there are thousands of even D1's out there that have had their kinks worked out and are amazing rigs. The biggest surprise for me has been mpg. I live 20 miles out of town and did a round trip yesterday that managed 29.6mpg average. That's really close to half the gas my D3 would take for the same trip. Good video, thanks!

very nice laid-back real-life review by an actual owner. It's brought me closer to owning one at the end 0f 2025 when I can give back my current car and I'll have access to some money. As you see from my icon, I have a KZbin channel in Spain, and I like to do mountain and rocky climbs, which you haven't covered, but I'm sure it'll be up for the challenge. Thanks again 🤩

The key to Landrover ownership is good specialist servicing. I’ve had 5 Landrovers over 23years and (except for the first one) they have been really reliable and each have done between 85k to 125k miles before being changed. The most reliable was my Freelander2 with just regular service item replacements, a clutch and some door locks. My Disco Sport has been good with just a thermostat housing needing replacement in 5 years and 60k miles. It tows heavy trailers and is often loaded full of heavy gear. The last set of tyres lasted 50k miles and were changed when they got noisy. No issues (yet) from the Ingenium diesel engine but I check for tell tale rattles on start up and will get the timing chains changed if the happens.

@TheGreatOutdoorAdventure

129K miles for any vehicle is a great deal of miles. I would even be wary of buying a Toyota or Honda with that kind of mileage. Also consider that the vehicle was driven 18K miles per year. That is a lot of mileage on an annual basis. If you are worried about reliability, I would steer towards something with less mileage. Good luck

Really appreciate your review and insight! I am a Benz guy through and through and overall gearhead for all cars in general. We have been looking at a fuel efficient but fun and reliable replacement for our 2000 ML55 and 2008 ML63 AMG's... this has surfaced as a very possible choice to fill that search and thanks to your review I feel a lot more comfortable with them. I do all my own service and work so I think if I can find one of these in good shape in the 10-15k range I could keep one going for a long time. Thx Sub'd!

The other reviewer says that many discovery sport need the engine changed after 3 or 4 years... something about cracked engine, also something to do with leaking suspension, engine lights issue, oil filter clogging issue... I wanted to get one of those but that turned me off... I think the old landcruisers are safer
@TheGreatOutdoorAdventure
@TheGreatOutdoorAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
I have never heard of Discovery Sport's needing their engine changed after 3 or 4 years. Nor any cracked engines. In fact, it is extreme rare that ANY engines crack as this would be the last thing that happens. Usually everything else will go first. I have driven two Discovery Sports now for a combined 110K miles with ZERO issues. The reviewer is either misinformed or they were the unluckiest duck in the world. I have had zero issues thus far. The engines in these are the pretty close to bullet-proof imo as long as you do regular maintenance on the engine. The engine itself is a second generation 2.0L Turbo charged ECO Boost made by Ford. It is one of their most popular engines and is VERY reliable. Motorreviewer.com states "Ford's 2.0 EcoBoost GTDI engine does not have huge problems" You may be talking about the underpowered diesel which we do not have in the states.

@TheGreatOutdoorAdventure

@@JWDooneRealty The rear collision damage would not necessarily be a no go for me, depending on what happened. The replaced Turbo is actually more concern imo.
