The reason why it has four seats is the same as for the 911. Insurance is more expensive on a two-seater.
@charlielong9 жыл бұрын
+TheSpeeddemon265 Not trying to argue, but the 911 does not have four seats for insurance purposes. In all of the past 911s (decades of Porsche history) it has had four seats; it's a tradition. Also, certain 911s like the Speedsters and GT models do not have rear seats. They do it for purpose, tradition, and as a place-filler for the grand-touring model category.. Even though the space in the rear seats is unrealistic for grown adults. Also, Porsche wouldn't continue to create their benchmark sports car just because the "insurance purposes".

I drove a GTR when I worked at Nissan. Nobody will probably believe me, but whatever. Lol. It is one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had. The intake noise is INSANE and when you stomp the gas for the first time, you almost forget it immediately because of how terrified you get on that first launch. This car was a car that I did not appreciate nor like the styling of before one year ago. I now have a savings account dedicated to buying a Nismo. Awesome video guys.

@zep0rkychopz9 жыл бұрын
+Viktor Freesmeier Driving a manual is more enjoyable. I have my own manual NA MX5, it's incredibly slow and unpractical but I love driving it because I feel so involved with it. I borrowed my dads car when I needed something more practical and it's an automatic RWD V8 sedan with over 250kw. While it was twice as fast to 100kmph I didn't enjoy it as much as my MX5 because the clutch is automatic, there's stability and traction control helping you and I didn't feel like I was working with the car. I felt like the car was baby sitting me. *Edit: punctuation
@AugustinianThomist9 жыл бұрын
+Stephen Schneider cause its a mx5, not a GTR, a GTR is no longer about enjoyment and fun, it about lap times and shaving of 0.0000001 of a second, and for that u need an auto because sadly they're just faster.

About the transmission, my street bike is exactly like that. When I'm going low speeds or cruising the shifts are always hard to get perfect. But when you rip the throttle open the shifts are smooth as butter. Some things are just meant to go fast

The rattle from the DCT at low speeds and low torque is something that is also present in the VW 7-Speed DSG, Type DQ200. It's there because it's a three-sHaft gearbox with a minimized oil supply (for efficiency reasons) which produces the rattling sound due to the shaft without load rattling in its bearings. It's ridiculous when you drive through a residential area and people look at you because they think you drive around with a broken gearbox.

As an owner of a 09 GT-R and now a 2015 GT-R... 1. Rear seat & trunk space. Look at other cars in this performance class. How many 196mph, 0-60 in 2.8s vehicles have practical rear seat & trunk space? The fact is, the GT-R is very practical & has a lot of usable space when compared to other cars in this class of performance. That Jaguar F-Type you mentioned in the video? It doesn't even have a back seat and the trunk is even smaller. And as for fitting things into the GT-R's trunk... don't stuff things in like a caveman. Angle it and it will fit just fine. It's not rocket science. 2. I haven't had issues with either car's hoods flying off at 150mph. While I can't say this has never happened to others, it's not anywhere near as common as you make it seem, definitely not enough to make it on to this list. 3. My previous cars have been: Honda S2000, E46 M3, E90 M3. The GT-R's door handles are no harder to use with grocery bags in my hands than any of those other vehicles. So I'm thinking this video should be 4 things you hate about the GT-R, not 7 :)

I have a 2013 GTR and I know a lot of people with GTR's. I fit a spade, a bodyboard and my tailored archery gear in the boot, you just have to be smart enough to angle it in properly. This has more space in the rear that almost any supercar. Also why are you guys complaining about the rear seats being too small, at least it has them to get your drunk mates home safely in an emergency - most other supercars don't even have rear seats. In the two so called examples you mentioned of hoods flying off (and then generalized as if it's a common problem which is clearly isn't) both incidents appear to be on highly modified GTR's where they probably went down the track without closing their hood properly after they fiddled around under there as both examples look like highly modified GTRs. The other points are true. I love the fan boys! Got to have a goal to strife for so nothing wrong with that.

+MrProtoking I agree that the GTR is a fantastic piece of automotive technology. After experiencing the launch control for the first time a few weeks ago I really started to get the whole GTR thing. However, if I'm going to spend 100k on a car, I want it to feel like a 100k car. In all honesty, the GTR does not feel like a 100k car to me because it isn't very practical and because of reasons pointed out in this video. It's like they say. There is more to life than 0-60 times. The same can be said for the value someone gives a vehicle. So with that said, it is somewhat overpriced. In comparison the Jaguar F Type R can be had for just a few grand more than the base GTR. The F Type R looks 106k . You sit in one and it feels 106k. Is it as fast as the GTR? Of course not but there is more to life than how fast a car is.

180mph somehow makes it okay? Its a poorly designed car. Deal with it.

One of the things on my list is the commonality of them. This is obviously situational based on location, but where I live, my M3 is far more rare to see on a day-to-day basis than a GTR by a factor of probably 4-to-1. When buying $100k+ cars, one would expect some level of exclusivity that just isn't there with a GTR.

You must not understand English too well... He wasn't complaining about the Engine sound, he was talking about all the rattling, knocking and cabin noise. As I have owned one, I know exactly what they are talking about. Like he said, the cabin is not well insulated and the wind noise is ridiculous. And obviously the DCT is just a joke sometimes with all the knocking. It would be nice for $70K to have a better designed and insulated cabin. While they were designed for performance, they were also going to be driven on the street normally (as they are street legal), so it is only obvious that they should have kept this in mind for the price tag. And all of the models are the same when it comes to this. For me, if I had personally been on the design team, I would have made a stock and racing model. One that was a bit more street conscious during design and of course one that is all about performance.

YOLO ! Stop making assumptions about what I want.. I never once said I want something quiet or silent. What I said is, the cabin is not well insulated and the knocking is annoying. It would have been nice to have 2 versions of the car. One that was designed for comfort and street use, and one for straight performance. Just like with many other cars, they have a performance and regular version. Just my opinion. But even so, I just thought the cabin insulation could have been better. That is all. The GTR was indeed a super fast and thrilling to drive, but it just wasn't for me. I am not a fan of DCT automatic either. I just love the gearbox and being in full control of my car. The GTR is too electronic for me. Again this is personal preference. You will never here me knock the speed or performance of the car as it is a monster and obviously with that kind of power it will be a blast to drive for most people.

The engineers never wanted back seats or a trunk, the design of the vehicle (for less) drag left a large opening behind the seats therefore they added the rear seats and trunk opening being that the shape of the vehicle would have left a huge open area, another thing the door handles u complained about are design to site flush in the door panel to reduce drag. If you don't know what your talking about don't bother confusing people with your guesses

This is actually a very good example of what "best buck for the bang" means. One of the best features of Veyron is that it's as easy, refined and quite to handle at 5 mph as 250 mph. No clunking and jerking or weird noises. At ANY speed. That is what expensive R&D and high-end engineering means and results in. Regardless of what fanboys say. And GTR fans were surpassed long time ago by extremely more obnoxious Tesla fans.

Towards the beginning you said "they're not quiet, refined vehicles". I think they're one of the most refined vehicles made today, which doesn't have a ton to do with being quiet in my opinion.
@ihavenoidea47278 жыл бұрын
I mean it's not a luxury supercar that seems to be the trend nowadays. It's a street performance orientated supercar. Kinda like underground style. That's what makes so many people love it. If GTRs stirred towards for that Luxurious-ish trend with comfort in mind Id never buy one. (2017 model sigh....)

I could give a rebuttal to most of the points (except maybe #7) but definitely disagree with #2. I've owned a 2009 and my current 2013 and in all the years of ownership, including track days, club days and also trawling through GTR forums etc, I've never heard of the hood coming off at high speeds. I don't know if you can call it a 'common' occurance if you know of it happening to a couple of mates. That being said, the car does have its quirks...but they are long forgotten once you put your foot down.
@sharepointfoundation9 жыл бұрын
Back seat space is ok for kids. If you have them, you'll need at least one more car, with some decent room. Or look at the 991 turbo or any other sporty/fast car, is it spacious back there? As for the trunk, sort of what they say but exaggeration seems to be their thing. It does get warm in the trunk as the gearbox is just below, I could gripe about that. Loading stuff into you can get dirty as well, as you have to get close to the car. Road noise, yepp an R35 sucks with track suitable tires like r888. It's just noisy with normal tires. Hood flying off? Hasn't happened to me yet and I haven't heard about it either. Door handle works fine, just learn how to work it. Gear box noise, if you're a gear head it won't bother you. Try any other car with decent performance and the only ones that stack up are the 4 german brands, most others have tempers or are at least moody. Or, point me to one car that does it all! All I can say is that every car I've ever owned had something that wasn't right, a R35 is pretty reliable and you don't have to deal with snobby salesmen and service techs. 0 social stigma is also nice.

@KittenzorsVengance8 жыл бұрын
I personally like the GTR but I mean seriously most of their complaints were something you'd hear from consumers worried about a quiet peaceful ride with plenty of stretch out room. The kind of concerns Prius, Camry , and 300c owners produce. I would understand if their concerns were more comprised of visibility, handling , or anything of that nature. The GTR is a pure sport vehicle. If you want to complain on that aspect, they shouldn't be reviewing sports cars.
@zAvaricious8 жыл бұрын
Aside from having opinions about a car, people need to understand what the car was made for. Not all cars are made for practical or traditional use. The GTR is great car and may have its down sides but if you're buying a super car you can't expect it to be a quiet car or one to wait in traffic with.

Honestly this is fair critique. Really, ok, it is worth it for the price if you like performance, but pretty much if you want something comfortable you are better off buying a bmw or something.

Guys, the gtr is made to not have anything in the trunk except nitrous, the back seat is meant to be stripped out of it, and the clutch isn't meant for low speed driving. As to the hood, install hood pins and the problem is solved. As to road noise, it's a street legal race car. No one really gives a shit about road noise so long as the car stays together. It has less insulation for weight reduction so the vehicle will be that much faster. If you want a car to be an isolation cell, you need to look at fords mate.
@gunjr229 жыл бұрын
The only thing worth mentioning was the door handles opening the wrong way and the slow speed shifts. This car is a fraction of the price of super cars which can't compete. What do you expect? Perfection? Ferrari refinement? It isn't gonna happen at this price point. You buy this car for the performance and not refinement. Race cars should not have luxuries.
@enginedesign48719 жыл бұрын
The handle bars are to increase aerodynamic properties as it can be hidden in the door. I personally, think they overreacted with the doors as having 2 steps to open the door is not marginally big issue at all. Regarding fanboys, ITS NOT AN INHERENT PROBLEM OF THE GTR, it is the result of the GTR being awesome, so problem 7 does not make any sense.
