I wish there could more wild monster sieges like imagine coming back from a quest then getting a notification “A monster is attacking Seliana” that would be awesome

We kinda had that in 4U. You'd regularly hear word about elder dragons/apex monsters heading their way towards Dundorma and you'd eventually unlock optional quests to fight them in Dundorma's battlegrounds. When you finish the quest, it disappears and you have to wait for the next to appear.

The only problem would be that if it was mandatory to defend the base it could get annoying, ie: "I just want to do the regular quests stop making me defend!" If it wasn't mandatory it would just be another kind of quest you can only do when it's availible.

@@lordg0gma627 It doesn't have to be mandatory, just make it like Shara or Zorah's quest where it randomly appears, but give incentives as in doing it will net you extra rewards. You don't have to do it mandatorily since you're not the only hunter in the commission anyway

Imagine future monster hunter where you gradually expand your OWN TOWN unlocking, building, and upgrading different facilities while you progress the story and random encounters like that which if ignored, can do enough damage to your town needing repairs before you can use its features

I love how in the first part, since it's only the hunter, we get more of the solo trumpet playing than usual, and it sounds partly in a minor key, but when it changes to the Seliana theme, it sounds more siege-Esque, and has a larger set of brass, almost to say the hunter has backup. When it finally transfers to the final fight's theme, we get a combination of both to get a beautiful composition.

The full battle theme is, at closer listening, a mashup of the first encounter theme and the Seliana defense theme, which just makes the entire Velkana arc of Iceborne infinitely cooler imo. Like you’ve got two previews, and when you finally get to fight her in earnest, you both know you’re about to fight to the death.

Just beat Velkhana yesterday using a switch axe and my god was that difficult. It only took me 1 attempt but I must’ve burned through at least 20 nulberries and 20 mega potions even with an iceproof mantle. It’s just a mini game of dodging and I both hate it and love it.

Velkhana is relatively docile on her own, but it’s only when she’s attacked, she’ll try to kill you. Velkhana is odd that way. Most monsters will just attack you without rime or reason.

5:17 . Just yes. The transition from ‘Defence of Seliana’ to Velkhana’s theme is just godly. Velkhana’s theme is just so so good. The Fith Gen. flagships all have amazing themes. (Well- except Nergigante, but Arch Tempered Negi fixes that) But even with some stiff competition Velkhana’s theme stands out with the piano and the trumpets, they all blend together to form the image of the true best Fith Generation flagship; Velkhana, the Iceborne Wyvern

I absolutely love the story of this track, how every encounter changes the motif a little but doesn't overdo the changes. Until the mount. She's like Nergi, in the beta of World you fight Nergi in the wildspire waste but in the actual World, he spawn only in elder's recess (Or on the Zorah), Sadly for her, in the beta of Iceborne you fight her in elder's recess. That in fact, pretty cool because it follow the path of the nergigante but its pretty sad that after the beta we can fight her everywhere but not in the Elder recess. Maybe they will make an update at the end of Iceborne for fight her in the elder recess for her AT version (even if i don't believe it enough because we've got a AT nergi in elder recess again and not in the desert :/ By the way, I still love her OST even if she still hard to fight she still beautifull for me like Namielle !

There's one thing that has bothered me for quite some time: Why isn't there an attack where Velkhana exclusively uses the ice horn she grows on her noggin, like, why is there a horn if she doesn't use it and just uses generic attacks of that body shape appart from her tail attacks and ice powers?

Velkhana, the she-dragon of grace and skill, can only be fought with equal skill and grace: Dual blades, longsword, insect glaive, and bow. Only weapons i fight her with, not the clunkiness of a switch axe or charge blade, not the brutality of a blunt weapon such as Hammer, or a Hunting horn, not the weight of a greatsword, heavy bowgun and lance, not the brutal explosions of a light bowgun or a gunlance, just simple style and grace, no shields like the lances and SnS, just a one on one dance to the death with the lady of ice and beauty. (don't worry i have more wafius, Namielle, Kulve Taroth, Nargacuga {snuggle the Nargacuga}, the Rathians {including dreadqueen}, but Velkhana and Kulve are my top waifus)

Ultimately, I am not a huge fan of this theme... I feel like (mostly with the main fight version) it's missing a lot of the oomph that usually accompanies any other monster with a unique theme. It's highly reminiscent of Zorah Magdaros' theme, which would be fine if she was a siege quest like he is. But she isn't. It's sort of a disservice to her as monster considering she was the driving force for two thirds of the plot. There is just a lot of great potential that seems wasted here...
