I think the thing that jumps out at me the most is just how different the main characters are to their Scooby-Doo counterparts.. like none of them are even remotely the same. i think you hit the nail on the head with that one. i firmly believe the writer of the show wanted their own thing but couldn’t make it cause nobody wanted it. so they pitched it as a scooby doo remake and it got approved cause remakes are incredibly popular with producers and streaming sites (even though 90% of the time the audience doesn’t even want them cause they’re almost always bad)
@buchstaben-suppe
@buchstaben-suppe Жыл бұрын
coming back to this with more intel, the writer DID plan on doing their own show at first but then changed it to the scooby doo remake. the show is pretty much a self insert fanfiction, the main character is voiced by the writer, her ethnicity was changed to the writers ethnicity and she said in an interview she could always identify with velma cause she was the smart one and the most valuable member in the group 🫠 also literally every single group member falls in love with velma at one point in the show and she’s always the hero that saves the day and the one that solves all the mysteries.. i said it’s a fanfiction but honestly there’s better fanfiction out there than this show

This is a lot of the reason why we've seen an uptick in young, white, males turning into school shooters and killers. Society demonizes them for being them, and they have no healthy outlet for their emotions, which is needed for young males especially due to higher levels of aggression. A lot of woke morons will scoff at this, but its true. History is irrelevant to how people are today. When a generation of people are attacked and demonized for actions they never committed, it turns them ugly. I saw someone bring this up on one of those Vox panels where they're talking about masculinity and they had this "non-binary" dude scoff and make excuses about it. Meanwhile I'm thinking to myself "I bet you've dealt with a lot of BS and if someone scoffed at YOU and made excuses about YOU, you'd have a big problem with it". Shows like this are toxic af and will just cause more issues.

@@Void_Out man I would say the wooden doors are the best characters, the carpeted floors have more like-able features then new age-Velma. I’m a fan of dark humor, when pulled off correctly it makes you laugh but also shocks you! You have to have the ability to laugh at yourself though. In Velma, it’s non-stop violence, crude jokes, out of pocket insults with no timing toward the viewer, and the blandest form of sexism and racism jokes. It’s like they were trying to make the most horrible show so they get more clicks, and the worst part about it is that the original gang WERE diverse in terms in social circles. A nerd, popular girl, a kinda dumb but cool jock, a stoner/tax evader, and a dog. Despite being the most opposite in terms of social concepts, they got along and would never stab each others backs. In Velma, all the characters hate each other, (Exept Velma and Norville who get somewhat along.) , ALL of them are total jerks, then suddenly all the characters LOVE Velma and wanna date her, they changed the characters races for no reason other then to make more jokes, (I’m a person of color being Latin and Native American so I’m fairly tan, and all I have to say is that inclusiveness isn’t skin deep, it REALLY ISN’T. It’s super annoying when a character’s entire personality is their race. And the thing is that it’s not cool or normal to be jackasses to white people but yet again apparently it’s okay because they’re white??) @Fermifire

I completely agree with you about the character designs. It's such a shame that they went to waste on this show. You can really see the effort that went into making each character distinct and unique, and they definitely succeeded in that aspect. But, when it comes to the overall show, it just falls flat. I mean, the potential was there, but it just didn't deliver. I feel like the designs could have been put to better use in a better-written show. It's really disappointing to see all that effort go to waste like that.

I think one of the most unintentionally funny parts of the show, is that of the original main cast, Shaggy is the richet and most privileged member of the cast, as its a joke that somebody like him is from such a well off family. It's why his legal name "Norville" cause he's technically upper class. But cause they made him black in this show, they had to like, make him poorer and make Fred richer just so all the white privilege jokes would even make sense.

Velma complaining about how female origin stories are treated as just women insane is strange, because most of the female origin stories lately have been let down because they refuse to give a female character an internal conflict. The funny thing is, t hat's almost what makes this show amusing, because she's clearly a flawed character and they don't even play it up like she's in the right. She outright says some rather selfish and negative things that are personality traits one shoudl not look to mimic. It will be interesting if they can actual evolve her into a character people can root for, since if we wanna play devil's advocate, when you consider your high school years I"m sure there are some things you regret, or even ways you may of acted, immature, rude and outright nasty, and as you got older you grew out of it. So if the writers actually have the skills to make their gang frienship make sense as they look past their negative selves from high school and develop into mature adults, it wouldn't be the worse writing. unfiltered With that said, this show is far from perfect, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued to see how they plan to wrap up the season, morbid curiosity, but it's also fascinating to consider what was going on through their heads when they produced this.

Worst part about norville is that shaggy was the easiest to emulate adult humor into. Man is a stereotypical stoner in almost every way. He rides around in a van with flowers painted on it every day, talks funny, is constantly fiending (for scooby snacks), always has munchies, dresses in baggy clothes with long hair, and talks to a dog. They only needed to change scooby snacks into edibles and the character would have been written. I don't know how funny it would end up being but it can't be worse than what we got.

Personally I don't really understand the "passionate haters" of something anymore. I had gone through that phase too but like... when I was a teen. Why don't they spare themselves the stress and spend their free time on things they actually enjoy? Whatever. I understand poking fun and watching things for the heck of it, but not the "one of my personality traits is fiercely hating TLOU2" kinda thing, if it makes any sense.
