Velma episode 8 review where Velma has decided to attack everyone rather than just one group like in episode 7. Velma is a Scooby Doo adaptation for HBO Max based on the classic Scooby Doo cartoon, but that's where the resemblance ends. In fact this episode has several Scooby Doo references that if anything, show nothing but disdain for the original show. Is Velma worth watching?

Velma Episode 8 review, you have no idea how disappointed I was when I got to the end of this and found out there is 2 more! I was sure this was the finale 🤣Well this week we continue humiliating Fred, Norville has a remarkably strange comment about his mum and we get more chances at Velma popping her clogs that all unfortunately fail. But what did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

The funny thing about Mindy complaining about privileged white people is that Mindy is the daughter of an architect and a doctor, she spent her whole life going to rich private schools, went to one of the most exclusive colleges in the world to get an arts degree, and got a job on The Office almost out of college which made her career. So she's pretty much the living definition of privilege.

Well said Alzael. And, she's the baby mamma of two children from two different fathers, whose identities are concealed. Way to go Mom! Setting such a great example for those kids :) I'm sure that with her socially grounded views as a smart, confident, well-adjusted and well-rounded woman, there's definitely no need for those kids to have any kind of "toxic male influence" in their lives. They'll turn out just fine, I'm sure.

Why do onscreen gay and biracial relationships now outnumber just ordinary couples? Its like our entire society is being shamed and for just being normal by a hypocritical faction.

Ok, let me put my tin foil hat on, 'coz I have 3 theories: 1) Velma's mom is the killer. She left the family because she saw how hopeless her daughter was. So she took off to find a therapist that would fix her daughter's repulsive personality. She searched far and wide but didn't find anyone that would be able to help. That is why she started killing off all the hot girls. The mom figured that if she killed all the girls prittier than Velma (so all the girls basically), at least one man would be desperate enough and start dating Velma. So Velma wouldn't die alone. 2) Daphne's necklace at the festival looks exactly like the green gem that you can see above Sims. This is (not so) subtle hint that Daphne is under Velma's control and manipulated by her. 3) Remember Galadriel saying to Elrond (TWICE) the infamous line "You have not seen what I have seen"? I bet she meant watching Velma. Maybe we judged Galadriel too quickly for saying that stupid line.

I'm gonna write a plot off the top of my head using this show as a reference. They're in college. There's this teacher that has a "Mystery Club," which is a club for people interested in crime and spooky mysteries and stuff to discuss/deep dive into it. Daphne is taking it because she wants to be an investigator in the future. Shaggy needs it to pass a class taught by the teacher, Fred, the popular guy has a passion for mysteries, and Velma is taking it for similar reasons but also for extra credit. So some people around town are going missing, and the old urban legend of the fog cove is circling around. Supposedly, there was a cult back in the day that sacrificed people to curse the town with fog. And the people are all superstitious about it. Think small town mindset. So the Mystery Club takes it upon themselves to go check out the validity of these rumors. Daphne is also in Mystery club because she wants to get better at looking people up. She's searching for her birth parents and scouring the internet. Fred is the heir to a multi million dollar franchise, but honestly? He's a down to earth kind of guy. He fought his parents to go to this college over some snooty one that his parents wanted. Reasoning unknown. This is a huge secret though. Fred is tired of people only seeing his wealth when they talk to him. He wants real friends who share his passions. He's the one to buy a nice van for the Mystery club to drive around in, hence why he is always the driver. Shaggy has some things going on in his personal life. He lives in a one bedroom small apartment that he's renting with Fred and his dog. Fred has never had a dog before and loves them. They bond over their shared interest for mysteries and something else. Maybe a sport? Maybe a hobby? Idk. Velma lives at home with her parents, and Daphne lives in the college campus. Fred doesn't live in the college campus because he felt cramped there. So there's a few minor mysteries that happen. Clues are left. And over time everyone's secrets come out. The gang helps Daphne track her parents down, they help promote Shaggy's music hobby. And Fred learns what friendship is. His parents love him, but they're so removed from real life that it comes off as snobby. So through a series of events. The trail leads them to this infamous "fog cave". It's one of the town's biggest mysteries. The gang discovers that everyone kidnapped had a connection to a certain shop. And the old owner used to own this mining company that was exploring the cove for some rare rock or something. But due to public outcry over how dangerous the caves were, the company went bankrupt and the mine was closed. Scorned, the man has been plotting for years to get back at the town for making him lose his fortune. Son he begins to kidnap people and hold them in the cave for ransom. The police don't know who did it, because the old man has a solid alibi. The Mystery gang is led to belive the story above. But actually, it was the competition all along. The man was bitter, yes but he's just a prickly individual taking up some valuable piece of land that his competiton wants. So they framed him. The Mystery gang uncovers this, and the police are called. End with the ever so classic: "you meddling kids!" And the group goes out to celebrate with dinner. End credits with them graduating and leaving town in this van that says "Mystery Club" on the side (since Mystery machine is not allowed). Arguably better but scuffed plot from the top of my head. These writers are lazy and should have never been hired. Insert some romance drama and some adult comedy and there you go. It's not difficult to come up with literally ANYTHING better than whatever this was

This is legitimately 1000% better than the slop they're currently producing. I feel like they wanted to make some self insert fanfiction about Mindy Kayling, and decided to haphazardly slap on a Scooby Doo theme to get the funding. @HasJoinedYourParty I absolutely adore Helluva Boss! And tbh the take of them being high schoolers is really weird in Velma. If they wanted sexual content, make them college kids. The whole sexualizing high schoolers thing is creepy, predatory, and honestly I feel bad for Mindy if that's what she thinks is normal. Velma has really opened my eyes to a new genre, one where they make the lead role as annoyingly braindead as possible and put them in horrific scenarios, likely to kill them, only for them to stay alive and make another episode. I'm not saying it's a good genre, I'm just saying she's definitely paved a nice road for it.
@nogoodreasonYT
@nogoodreasonYT Жыл бұрын
Now I’m actually curious whether a book written in that genre would be fun to read. Like, if the thrill of the protagonist potentially dying or at least getting his/her comeuppance would be enough to keep the reader going, or if the fact that the character exists would drive the reader to abandon the book entirely. I think it hinges on whether the other characters are sympathetic and have their own arcs and subplots to work through alongside the protagonist’s. Obviously the ‘writers’ of Velma didn’t want to go to all that trouble, so they just made every character insufferable, but I feel the premise of a non-sympathetic protagonist could support a decent story if it were handled properly.

There has to be a mask-off reveal, so that's not really Velma's mother. I'm betting Fred's dad.

The mother isn't allowed to be the bad guy, because she doesn't have "Dangly Bits". That's practically the foundation of the show, and why it's so predictable.

The brains were super unsettling. All I can think of is the book by HP Lovecraft where a man gets unfiltered sound from a brain in a jar. All it is, is SCREAMING. The brain is just screaming nonstop. I can't stop thinking of that when I look at these brains casually talking. It isn't right.

I remember a video game named _Hatred_ . Edgy as all get-out, hyperviolent, outraged parents and even games reviewers. This series handily tops it, though without all the blood and gore. The self-loathing and envy on the parts of Kaling and co. is quite difficult to get through, even though you're interpreting it for us!

That videogame, Hatred does not pretend to lecture and at the same time insult the spectator/player. Hatred the title, hatred the content.

My theory is that hell doesn't want her and lord knows she's not going to heaven, and that's why she won't just die. Everytime she lives through a precarious situation, 8 billion souls cry out in anguish

0:58 pizza gate. Oh I'm sorry It's just a coincidence that they put a picture of a pizza on a little girl's t-shirt. That's Hollyweird for you. Protect your kids or Hollywood's going to act like they have nothing to do with their disappearance

Tbh the helicopter chick dipping out on the gang was hilarious, I hope they play that up more. Something about the town hating Fred at the beginning makes me glad that everyone hates Velma and dont give a fuck about her or her freinds lol. Helicopter lady went "alright bet"

How could Fred start a fire let alone prep a dead rat to cook on said fire, when he's been shown to be so pampered in his life, he couldn't even properly feed himself?

I thought that too. I would have expected them to make at least one joke about how Fred nearly killed himself while trying to make a fire.

The thing that pisses me off about this show is that it somehow manages to talk down to it’s audience and treat them like idiots while also being SO VAGUE AND SLOPPY, you don’t know what’s going on half the time
