Nice video Brian. Thanks and well done. Did you get your head round why you had to get the bag out..? Eliminating the obvious possibilities of course. Do you think it may have been the repeated oscillations or what..? Thanks.
@ExperimentalAircraftChannel4 жыл бұрын
Sure. We actually went into three(3) oscillations and none of them were "dramatic" and in fact a very tall "wave" if you will within the oscillation spectrum. But we did "float" (zero gravity) for a significant amount of time and then loaded into a very positive g-force climbing the "wave" and then repeat. Then... diving the beach with a few g-pull turns. Honestly... I just haven't flown in a while and haven't accustomed my "inner ears" to that sort of "abuse" haha! I need to fly more! Thanks for watching and supporting here! I have been interested in the Velocity Twin since 2010 and the short fuselage always keeps me on the lookout for other concepts. If it were 30ft my hesitation would be non existent, @ 25ft my concerns would still be on the radar but tolerable but with a 20ft I would be highly motivated to modify it until satisfied and that canard would be reshaped to suit the overall look similar to the SR-71 canard that didn't go into production. Great video and I am impressed with the process
@StabyMcStabsFace2 жыл бұрын
Why the twin? I've heard that statement a lot, and really wonder the motivation. Planning for an engine failure?
@SGTMARSHALL12 жыл бұрын
@@StabyMcStabsFace if a car engine fails it is already on the ground and can still cause injury and damage, a plane is anywhere from 500ft to 25000ft and doing double or triple the speed on average. If you don't plan for a failure you will never expect the unexpected ! When I go to war if the rifle fails I have a pistol, if the pistol fails I have a bow and arrows, if the bow fails I have a field knife and if my knife fails I still have a plan-B

@@SGTMARSHALL1 Sounds like you need a better engine program. If the 540 or 550 is really that bad; I suppose a pair of 520s makes sense... still heavy and inefficient though. If a fear of piston problems or heights is first in your mind, I'd just go single turbine.

At one point he demonstrated how much the rudder can lower a wing. I've done many, many barrel rolls using rudder alone with no help from the ailerons in my Long EZ. They take about twice as long as when using aileron and rudder which is about 4 seconds, a pretty leisurely roll rate. You start the "rudder roll" about 60 degrees nose up and finish 60 degrees nose down.
