That's what beautiful about Buddhism, is the compassion, deep understanding... THAT'S WHAT MAKES US BEAUTIFUL. I'm a Christian but I admit, we always lack of this simple things. It makes me sad, and it always feels like a burden, like when you just want to commit to the things that will make u bless, but there are so many hindrances. I hope I could talk to someone like you. I don't know what to do anymore.

@@jaissegobelyn9667 id suggest looking into more Buddhist teachings, books, what have you. Taoism may be of interest to you as well. I consider myself something of both. You may find many nuggets that can help you, if at a crossroads. Not a Christian myself, but remember, we dont worship the Buddha. You can still keep Jesus in your heart if you so choose to follow down this road. Lots of people do. In fact, the teachings may be more synergistic than you'd expect. Either way, I hope you find whatever it is youre looking for ☺ best of luck in your life 🖤

I have always had this deeply ingrained in me since childhood. I'm so different from, for example, my sister. It wasn't good for me throughout my life as I didn't look after myself properly and was more focused on helping others.. even if it was to my own detriment. I look after myself now and have truly realised that I must care for myself in order to care for others.

(This is a big mess) I have always had a deep passion about Buddhism and have always loved every lesson it preaches (and also, unconsciously followed these words for my whole life. Since I was a little kid I was told I was a good listener and my family would always say "I have never seen her open her mouth to talk about anyone") Anyway, only recently I started to actually study and go through Buddhism teachings and every time I learn a bit more, I love it a bit more. But something is bugging me - thus the reason why I wouldn't learn about it sooner - I grew up Christian, but even though I feel peace in God and find him beautiful, I don't like church's history (for innumerable historical orthodox reasons I can explain if someone asks ♥︎)... So the thing is: can I follow Buddhism and still be a Christian? I mean I do some random things that I don't think the church sees as "holy" like manifesting by writing, believe in the power of the elements (fire, earth, air, water). Actually I have some candles, crystals and stones I put around my rosary and some adorable angel figures I have... I am a complete mess rn, but somehow I feel like I'm so in peace and in connection with the heaven since I stopped overthinking about it and meditate while praying before go to sleep 💖 I'd be so thankful if someone could help me with that🥺🥺

If u want to involve in buddhism and really get something out of it you need to make sure to put true effort into meditation every day. Reading buddhist books and performing buddhist rituals without meditation will not take you far, even if you read all the buddhist scriptures and memorized all the mantras in 1 week, it will never compare to the results of meditation. Once you get further into meditation you will really feel some positive progress

True, but buddhists are not interested in helping others achieve their desires, which are always forms of clinging (tanha), the source of suffering. Buddhists are there in part to remind others of the four noble truths, to show the path which leads to the cessation of suffering (dhamma). I think when listening to others, Buddhist monks can identify the causes of suffering within people - hopefully if they decide to advise the speaker, the advice will be along the line of seeing the desire for what it really is (or something similar), or to help the speaker achieve a state from which they’ll be able to see their desiring, as well as their suffering, as it is.

No they are not mutually exclusive because Buddhism at its core is a science.
@NightWing1800
@NightWing1800 Жыл бұрын
It is and it isnt. Buddhism, to my knowledge, doesnt actively prohibit you from worshipping a god. Theres also different kinds of Buddhism just like theres different kinds of Christianity. And one of the paths to enlightenment some buddhists practice is a path to enlightenment through faith in something higher. From that description, you could find enlightenment through Christianity and through works, something Christianity approves of. And stuff like meditation and introspection doesnt conflict with Christianity. But the way it conflicts from my understanding is in two ways. One, part of Buddhism is learning to recognize divinity in yourself. And I think that might class with most Christians belief of no other idols before God. So it'd take some compromise. Secondly, I think the mindset Buddhism cultivates and doing a lot of introspection and a lot of self improvement might end up weakening your conviction in the Christian god depending on where that faith comes from. Because some Christians believe in God because of a very deep rooted fear and their faith is basically covering a lot of insecurity. And so if you engage in a practice that actively works to undo that insecurity and fear, that person might wake up one day, stop fearing God, question a whole bunch of things, not get good answers, and realize that their religious upbringing had a lot of baggage and they dont want it anymore. But for other people, they might have a much more positive relation with Christianity, and their faith could come from a place of peace, love, and compassion and so everything they discover when introspecting instead leads them to the thought "Hey, this is really healthy and I do good for my community. I dont need to justify this relationship to God to anyone but myself and I am satisfied with it." In that case, I think theyre probably going to develop a much stronger bond to their faith because its not root in insecurity, they dont feel the need to defend their faith or explain their beliefs, and when someone does raise a concern, they might actually take it on, consider it, and incorporate a deeper understanding of their faith because of it.
