That was even riveted chainmail! Wow. I thought it would have at least slowed the knife down.

First of all, thank you for the video. It is very rare that real throwing tests performed by professionals exist against properly designed armor. Especially the use of riveted mail is awesome! However, I would have one comment and one criticism about your "test setup". 1) It would be very helpful to know what grade of steel the throwing knives, helmet and mail are made of. This can have a big impact on the hardness and resistance of the steel and thus the overall results. This can usually be easily requested from the manufacturer, if he does not even state it himself. Also, it would be very interesting to know what your average throwing speed is. 2) To get a reasonably "realistic" result, your target should not be completely rigidly attached and, most importantly, should not be resting against a solid object. Because of the conservation of momentum, this will greatly distort the result. It's like trying to simulate a car crash against a free-standing, low-mass moving object with a concrete wall. The easiest way would be to use a wooden lever arm with a weighted base. At the upper end of the lever, the flesh should then be attached and wrapped with cloth, and the mail can then be placed over it. It would be great and extremely interesting if you repeated the helmet/armor test with a revised test setup.

Incredibly entertaining! I love that you destroyed the energy drink because it's not healthy-lol!🤣🤣. I can't believe your throwing knife went through a metal helmet and chain mail- that was crazy.
@hanshanszoon2 жыл бұрын
Very nice. I really liked the video. The knives do more than I thought they would. But off course you are a very good thrower and that helps ;) However I disagree that the shield would not help you, because you do not press the shield against your skin to protect you. you hold it in front of you, so it only needs to stop the weapon, not prevent penetration completely. But I guess you also noticed that in hindsight.

Pretty sure that cheap plywood shield would protect you a lot more than nothing at all, I mean it was barely even a quarter inch through the other side. Hardly more than a flesh wound, assuming you were bracing it against your shoulder.
@loso83812 жыл бұрын
but you would still have armour, so even if you were bracing it against yourself, it wouldnt touch you.

Those knives are so tough. No damage after the helmet throws and you drilled them. I was hoping you'd stick the knife in the helmet after it went through to see how deep it went. Very powerful and accurate throws bro. 👍👍👍

I have been throwing my hornets almost every day and I love them. However, most of them arrived bent from acejet. They are so strong that they won't bend back. Did you have this problem? How many do you have that are perfectly flat?

Beautiful accuracy and penetration my friend !!!!! Thanks for sharing
@Kamamura223 күн бұрын
The helmet is more impressive than the mail, because the rings of the mail has the tendency to open when stabbed into - that's a known fact, that's why various anti-armor implements like the rondel dagger or awlpike have such slender, pointy blades/tips. By the way, the correct English word for "pneumatik" is "tire", but that's just nitpicking. Fantastic technique, I must say Adam changed my opinion about knife throwing.

Awesome video! I think that any hit in helm you demonstrated could leave the target unconscious. From what I saw, you used the chainmail with 1 in 4 rings weave. Could you test the 1 in 6 weave or double 1 in 4 weave chain mail in future tests?

Bro WTF? How thick is the side of the helmet that the knife went through? I saw this video of Tod's workshop kzbin.info/www/bejne/enPblYehmcl7l6c testing arrows against a 2.5mm thick breastplate and he stopped every shot, then you come and stick a helmet with a knife like it's nothing.
@lasko247 ай бұрын
Even though I wasn't expecting the knife to penetrate the helmet and was surprised it did I doubt it would have been a killing blow since they would have had more protection under the helmet like padding or a coif maybe even both.
@Dworblack Жыл бұрын
Cool video but why did you not layer some fabric under the chainmail to better capture penetration effect? chainmail goes over quilted armor man not on bare skin, chainmail is designed to stop slashing, not stabbing, but coupled with quilted armor it tends to fair well against penetration at-least based on tests.
@lasko247 ай бұрын
That also depends on the pattern of the chain maille the one in the video is more suitable for slashes but the patterns where the links are tighter together would be more suitable to stop stabs. If a person could afford it they may also have leather armour over the quilted armour.
@wanderingstranger89442 жыл бұрын
Very cool video and the mail looked like a really good quality stuff. Mail was used with up to 3 layers thou I'd like to mention. Be for being harmed. It could go plate mail gambisen (possible for other garment here) flesh muscle then bone. I would say reaching muscle would be a good indicator for any killing blow. I did add plate into this example as it's the extreme so how I'd measure lethality would end up being mail gambisen flesh then muscle for effective attacks. Not trying to be mean I do believe there to be some good possibility for it to work

Roman Scutum stops everything. Just cause the little tip punches threw doesn’t mean anything. Even the axe had trouble. That hole is pretty much nothing. The only Problem is exposure to random arrows and stones... barely. That hole was small.

Contact Todd at Todds workshop on KZbin if you are serious about testing against actual welded chain, shields and things he has a lot of content with the subject. Seems like the kind of guy who would be down to celebrate on the project.
@Sovereign2723 жыл бұрын
Missed the opportunity the test chainmail properly again. target and armor are braced against a solid surface which is a mistake! Don't do that as it doesn't represent a realistic conditions armor would behave when put on a person. Test dummy has to have give and absorbed some of the impact like a living target would

Pod kroužkama bývá prošívaná košile. Nenosí se to hned na těle... A taky, tělo není statická pevná plocha, takže noži trochu povolí. Takže výsledné zranění by bylo o něco menší. Ale ovšem, ten průraz je jasný. Jinak super, video. A takovou díru v helmě sem nečekal, to už by pokazilo den.
